I have always had to return my hoppers sans battery. Last return I only sent the mid sections and back-end back. I don't think this made any price difference with postage though, but not having the front-end, it just looks like an industrial part or incomplete pen. Not that it matters, postage people don't care. I declare it as a Vaporizer Pen on paper but never have to say much to the cashier scanning it in. I also usually get them to parcel it up, and none of them have had any hesitation or reaction whatsoever (cannabis has a pretty negative stigma here, still I've never ISO cleaned a unit before postage just used a HL zip-lock and some bubble wrap). Fits in the smallest, cheapest satchel and arrives after a week or so from Aus.
I love how post-colonial it all is, despite the durability, this is what technology was invented for. Civilised.

I'm currently enjoying the first hopper kief bomb I've had for some time.
The GH is the ducks nuts and worth hanging in there for.

It's basically a low temp Sublimator hit from a pen.
And with barely any impracticality.
That's a lot to love

I bought today a longer ss drip tip (you can find them in e-cig stores)... I use it on the pfe front end, it fits... and it cools the vapor very good (I can take long fast rips on temp.5. ... like with my bubbler, also it does not really get hot...

I like my ghs, they are my favorite vaporizers.... and my last rma was 8 months ago.... but I am using them not exclusively...

Yeah same here. The GH to me is my favorite from my Solo, Pax2, Vapcap M, and Mighty. The Mighty potency is something else though, and that is why I prefer the GH since I can microdose more easily. Often I quit my session when using the Mighty because it's so potent. Since the cooling unit works so well, often I don't realize how big of a draw I just had.

I emailed Caroline back to let her know that Canada Post doesn't allow batteries in their packages. The last time I sent my GH back to Hopper Labs, I wrote on the package a list of contents including the battery, Canada Post employee made me open the package and remove the battery before sending it through. I guess the other option is to send the GH with the battery in it and don't mention anything. I would rather be transparent just in case.

I don' know about using other delivery companies.

Not being able to ship lithium batteries is completely incorrect. Airmail you cannot send lithium batteries. Ground shipping is not an issue. The Canada Post worker who told you you couldn't ship it is wrong. I, plus almost every person, has received items that contain lithium batteries. All my vape stuff I order online that comes with lithium batteries or individual 18650's are shipped through Canada Post. Every cell phone that is shipped too you has a lithium battery plus a ton of other devices.

So no it is not a problem shipping lithium batteries and whoever told you that was dead wrong. Just put it in the package a ship it. You don't even have to mention a battery since it is a part of the vaporizer.

Did you not wonder how GL was able to ship the GH to you with batteries?

I had the Hopper shipped to my P.O Box in the US. The Canada Post employee told me that devices where the battery is affixed to them is okay, its the removable batteries that they have a problem with. As for cellphones I buy it at a local retailer so no shipping required.

on the flavor topic - i run my hopper with a fresh load at the very first heat setting... on 1 the flavor is intense, nuanced, layered... especially with some of the more terpy strains

you don't see much in the way of exhale but you don't need to, this is all about that taste.

after a few pulls on 1 and 2 then it's time for the effects and up the temp goes to 3-4-5 ... usually 1 good long (20 second) pull at each setting... by that point i'm well into the upper reaches of our atmosphere and i'm usually waving at the inhabitants of the ISS :)

hopping since dec of 2016 without a single problem, i love this thing!

I asked again at the post office and someone else said too. She said I can send up to 2 batteries but they have to be installed.

I guess it depends who is serving you. I read the policy myself and that's how I understood it to be too. Up to 2 batteries affixed. I think the other postal service rep who told me none at all is wrong cuz she looked new on the job. But whatever...I talked to Caroline from hopper and she said its ok not to send the battery. I'm not going to bother then...just don't want some newbie at customs who's not sure of the regulations to hold up my package.

You can ship/surface post batteries but typically you can't post them via air - which is the only reasonable option when returning a hopper from an international destination.

HL don't declare their batteries, that's why they arrive via air. It's basically a grey area, but I'm not going to take that risk myself. They do, which is awesome. A lot of businesses do, the ruling is all about insurance costs and is pushed through because a plane caught fire mid air in the US.

Their stipulation pushed through actually heghtens any risk, as an undeclared battery has no guarantee to be packed properly. It's not really that risky an item a battery, but fair enough if the pilots don't want even the tiniest risk.

You can declare them as a dangerous good, but I was quoted 3 months before arrival from Tasmania. Surface posting is ridiculous for an item of the hoppers size. HL are happy to receive the device sans battery if you're international, send it without it and then tell them. They'll sort it out without a hassle

one thing I do not understand why do ghl do not release new accessories like the stainless steel case or an adapter (do not know how to call it exactly) which mimics the battery and makes the gh a desktopvape and also what is up,with the concentrate front end... would bring them some extra cash...I would have more ideas for accessories .. can not be that they are not able to invent this accessories or is the problem the manufacturing of this accessories or money... I do not understand ghl...

Hopper Labs is still dealing with quite a few returns even now. I just want them to work on getting the GH the best it can be. Then they can work on accessories. I will be sending mine back soon for repair. They already try to get folks to buy some of their new products for the GH. The case is too expensive IMO. Like the high performance front end? Why that couldn't have been included with the newer GHs on the market?

If they could just make this unit to match the potential they intially promised. I would be happy.

Edit
The problem with the oils collecting on the battery condenser is an issue. That's one of the problems that I have and the back end clicker. Often it takes several clicks to get the GH to turn on. It will also turn on while just sitting on the table without being touched.

Yesterday, I decided to dig through my old shit and found a 3" piece of tubing. Holy hell does that change the GH experience! No extreme lip singe and the vapor was cough-free. Guess I'm going to have to get these bad boys fixed so I can get them back in the rotation.

ok hoped they fixed the issues with gh... my last rma was 8 months ago (but I did not only use my gh strictly) I thought they have nailed the issues... also it seems l7ke they now use a different material for the heater... looks like they are not 3d printing ss heaters (I only come to this conclusion because I have seen photos of new ghs and the heater (if it is the heater) is white (seems like ceramic or zirconia)...

and the ss case is not availablemat their hp...

Old & In the Way
They finally raised the price of Hopper as they had said they would before Labor Day, then revised that to Sept. 5, which didn't happen. Now I see SS have gone from $200 to $225 and Ti have gone from (as I recall) $250 to $265. All this adding to my being so pleased with my smart self for being an early bird. :) (My multiple SS's were at $135 and a Ti at $150).

But why drop the silicone condom from the deal? Could have easily accounted for keeping it in the package with this price bump.
And why is condom still unavailable? Is it possible something unsafe has been discovered about this accessory? We are only left to wonder...

Now if they'd just send the leather sleeve that was supposed to be included with the Ti that I received over a year ago......:\

regarding the silicone condom maybe they have problems sourcing them on the otherside I only used it with my bubbler before the pfe existet so it is no problem for me... also I never needed it when using my gh native...

3rd RMA for me - hopper returned home at the beginning of August with a new (white) oven installed. She worked for 2 weeks and then dead once again (no power at all this time). 3rd RMA now opened and they are shipping a new body and backend out before returning defective parts.

I'm wondering if it is my excessive use of the stainless PFE causing heat related issues? I no longer use the stock mouthpiece. I use mainly though water in back-to-back sessions and the PFE gets waaaay too hot to touch. The addition of an Aromed glass mouthpiece and half inch of silicone tubing makes for great thermal decouple for the lips.

Stick with it, it took three back to back rma's with my unit to get a reliable high-performing one. For myself the third time was the charm, well four really but mine works really well now no looking back. Good luck!

Hi, I'm from Brazil and currently have a SBJr, Mighty and an OmniVap.

I'd like to add a stealthy on demand battery replaceable vaporizer to my collection and I'm torn between the GH Ti and the Firewood 4. Actually, I'm a little bit more prone to get the GH, but I've been reading there are a lot of problems yet.

Should I risk it? Is it worth for me, an international customer, or should I wait for the GH 2 or wait until they finally fix most issues they're having (maybe never?)?

Thanks.

For the last few months I've been using my Grasshoppers almost exclusively with concentrates wrapped in organic cotton. That means they are pretty much always at temp 5. Most of my usage has been completely native, no silicone condom. Hell, I still have a condom that's brand new and sealed in the original wrapper.

Lately I've been using a j-hook here and there which is a nice change of pace. I prefer the more robust vapor using it natively, but the mouthpiece just gets too hot sometimes with back to back hits. With flowers I tend to hit it once and be good for a while but with concentrates I get best results with two hits in a row. The first hit seems to melt and "prime" the concentrate and the second hit is always much bigger than the first.

My Grasshoppers have held up really well, no RMAs even with this usage. Sometimes it feels like they aren't reaching max temp but for the most part they perform well. I wouldn't mind a higher temp ceiling for concentrate use, maybe 430°F instead of 410°F.

Wanted to do a "DAILY CARRY!!" post for so long but finally doing it

To start with here is my manly hippy camo pouch with hopper battery for size comparison
IMG_20170909_214720.jpg

Was going to get some super duper hardcase but never did as I could never figure the size I needed

Now I have a much better idea with all my basics hopper tools laid out
IMG_20170909_214950.jpg

This is what I think is needed for hopping

1. multiple batteries in a carry case with "+" sign to align full batteries towards it, nothing I found fits better and is as small as the bag they come in, just cut into size and it functions as a herb tray and hopper filler
IMG_20170909_215154.jpg

2. External charger unless your satisfied with the hopper lab one
IMG_20170909_215132.jpg

Mine worked .. one time so glad to have that for travel and a full sized one for home (don't give damn about charge current as long it's under 1 amp so don't start)

3. Some kind of extender on your mouth piece because I like to take huge rips on the go or long back-to-back sessions where the hopper frontend just gets to hot
IMG_20170909_215049.jpg

Tiny foldable pipe works wonders or whatever random stuff you can put together, here is a 18to18 male with a Davinci ascent glass stem inside :science:
IMG_20170909_215119.jpg

Other things are an AVB container, bag of herbs (wormwood not weed), little capsules for daily dosage, wooden skewer, little concentrate jar, tiny hard bristle brush and sticky tag for cleaning.

Bonus picture and pro-tip
IMG_20170909_215038.jpg

Keeping a metallic object in a loose bag with the hopper can be unnerving, even though it has protection from it completing a circuit when something conductive touches pin and temp dial
I just put some silicon tubing over it but can still easily turn the dial

So if your thinking about getting a hopper then A) it's not a bullet proof vape but hits like a champion, B) lots of spare batteries, C) figure out a extender for the mouthpiece

:bigleaf:

Thus my longest post was born :brow:

Honestly, I'd wait. Chances are good that you'd need to do an RMA at some point based on the history of this thread. :2c:

PS Seja bem vindo ao FC!

:peace:

Wait... Did I miss something? Is there talk of a grasshopper 2 already?

i know the gh has been out for 2 years but it seems like their operation stabilized only less than a year ago. Waiiting for a second version is like waiting for the next eclipse....

So long time member here and I don't post much unless I really think it's worth mentioning. Just picked up two hoppers in the last month to use on rotation. I took the advice of this forum to have a back up when one needs to be sent in for repair . Glad I did because the first one stopped heating in two weeks of use . I now have both back working correctly.

I've been through just about every portable out there and even with the reliablity issues there is just nothing that is fast and descrete as having the hopper loaded on you throughout the day. I really got these to replace the fast hits of a dab pen while out and about. I really can't think of anything else that comes close .

That's the problem though the hopper is only good in that scenario when it's pre loaded . I ended up having to take a little ziplock with a stash tube, poker, and folded business card to funnel material in . I'm not slick enough to do that with anyone around me .

So I searched online and came across the grasshopper feeder . This thing was reviewed pages back . The member seemed to like it. I contemplated on it for a few days just because I thought it was maybe a little expensive for accessory I don't necessarily need . Then that Weekend I was put in a situtation where the feeder would have really come in handy . So I said screw it... Bought it on eBay from dgfeeder . Unfortunately for us in the states he is located in Israel so it did take about a week to get .

I have to say this thing really gives me what I was looking for with my hopper on the go . I can dump a load and reload in maybe 10 seconds with out even thinking about it. I can also load it while walking , in public , or windy conditions . It's actually faster to load than a dab pen now which I thought was gonna impossible with all other techniques I've tried . The load is just absolutly perfect too. It fills to the top and usually just falls out when it's done being vaped with a little tap to it's not packing it , just a nice full fluffy pack . It must be the spring tension and piston are set just perfect . Packing the hopper with my folded business card and shoving it in there lead to mostly tight packs for me so this is great .

I was worried about the lid maybe coming open , but no issues in my pocket, dropped it and it does not come off. The way the lid is designed with the latch and magnet is actually extremely secure and easy to open . Nothing comes out , or gets into the lids recess , it's a very nice , easy, clean system .

I have ran about 6g through the dg Feeder and no sign of piston system getting clogged . Mine came with instructions for use , the last review said no instructions , but it's pretty self explainatory . Only issue I really had was learning how to remove the piston for cleaning once it was inserted . Once I read the directions a few times and played with it I figured it out . It's all actually really simple .

Anywase this little fucking thing is the best thing since sliced bread for the hopper . I know I sound like I'm a sales man, but I have no relation to dg feeder. I payed full price on eBay and couldn't be happier . His wonderful invention is really gonna make my hopper experience a more enjoyable one.
