Where can I get more stems? I want a dark one, but not sure where to order. I love my MVT btw! Amazing taste and very consistent.
All you need is to get 14mm stems which are available all over. I think the preloads from ddave are especially good.
On the other hand, the wood stem that works with a bubbler or plain is available from mvt and is great.

I'm still working on getting stems made up. Got a new idea and the glass shop is doing a trial run. The idea is to put a glass tube inside the stem, the tube would form the ledge that the cup screen sits on.

The extra stem is inserted into colored stem like this.

g25dW3L.jpg

When the ends are flush it forms a ledge on the ground glass end. The mouthpiece end will have the two glass parts welded together.

dUn6LaJ.jpg

This will provide a nice ledge to hold the cup screen in place.

I have a few parts at the glass shop and will have them next week. If this works out like I expect I'll have a few dozen made up. I can do this for both the standard length and the long stems. Unfortunately it won't work with double ended stems but the WonG fills that spot nicely (I have an order in for the WonGs and expect to get them in a couple of weeks)

@mistvaporizer I think the stems you have now fill the bill just fine. Why would I want one of these?

Picked up some 14mm wooden rods from eBay and made some stems for the MVT, they actually came out much better than I was expecting, despite my limited experience not having the right tools. They function just as well as Alan's stem but they don't look nearly as nice.

I'll be packing up several tomorrow for the day and be able to quick switch on the go! :science: Love this vape!

@Little Bill these are just for colored glass stems. I found some colored stems months ago that I could drill out and get a seat for the cup screen but then I couldn't find them anymore. The colored stems are Chinese glass and vary a lot in terms of glass wall thickness. So I have been trying to come up with some way of making colored stems with a seat for the cup screen. If this works it will make them more consistent.

@aSmallGreyStone I have 100 WonGs on order and hope to have them in a couple of weeks. I am considering offering them without a glass insert for as little as possible and also with a glass stem insert for a bit more. I agree it is handy to have a few stems loaded up for when you are enjoying life, you can just swap stems and not have to fuss loading them up when you are, uh, relaxed.

Also waiting on quotes for stir tool handles and collars made from plain maple. I want to have them available for a modest cost so people can have the convenience of the tool but not have to pay $25 for the exotic wood ones I make. I'll post when I get the quote.

Sorry @mistvaporizer. I bought a couple colored stems from you that work great. I didn't know you lost the sourcing on those.

Actually Mountain Glass is the source and have been for a long time. Problem is the colored stems aren't a standardized item in terms of wall thickness. With thick walled stems I can machine the ledge but with medium or light walled stems there isn't enough glass to cut the ledge. With the new design any wall thickness will work.
If this works out to be a good solution it will allow me offer a quality stem in a wider variety of colors.

@mistvaporizer , don't know if this helps since I only made one order from Mountain glass.

I found that the colors that are clear enough to kind of see through (Amber, cobalt blue, emerald) have thicker glass than the translucent stems that you can not see through (Jade, white). The thicker glass will hold a screen which I was unable to do with jade or white or clear.

However, their plain vanilla clear (colorless) glass was also too thin to hold any screen at my disposal (RBT screens, and many Rimmed screens from many sources).

IMHO you may have better luck sticking with Cobalt, emerald and amber vs. clear and white/jade.

Got the samples back from the glass shop and I like it a lot.

The mouthpiece end is very nicely done and it leaves a perfect ledge to catch the screens.
Ordering more stems today and then I'll have them reworked by the glass shop. Stay tuned.

Cool!

That is such a unique nice mouthpiece, but my concern with the ledge is that that thick glass will block a good deal of the screen leaving a hot spot where airflow can't get through... Though it also makes me wonder if some sort of glass screen might be possible to create here too

@Shit Snacks that was a concern I had also but these are the same design as the WonG double ended stems. There I used a small diameter glass tube and everyone has said it works fine. I haven't noticed hot spots with the WonGs. I will send a couple of these to testers.
I ordered 45 standard stems from Mountain Glass and will convert them to this design in the next couple of weeks.
As @Little Bill said there is no need to get one of these if you have a colored stem. The main reason for this is since I can't make them like I used to this is the replacement. I have had a few requests recently for colored stems and ran out of stock.

Ah I see. Yeah I do have my tulipwood WonG from Alan that has a glass lining like that. Though I don't use it too often, those do seem to work well enough. I wonder if there is even a way to turn this stem style into a little cooling unit using the inner glass tube, hmmm...

Will you be doing both long and short colored stems this way? A medium length stem might be nice too... I still don't have any amber stems for my Touch, or any stems in white/jade, if those will also work with this new design now

Long and short stems. The first batch will be Amber, Blue and Green. Black is hard to do, I broke 4 of 10 on the last batch. No more black stems will be offered.
White is possible down the road and there is a second shade of Green.

Ah glad I already have a black stem then! Perhaps a long amber stem is in my future then, I only have the one long blue stem that is quite nice. Looking forward to seeing these new colors in the future and hearing about their performance. Nice creative problem solving!
