Inline Particulate Filter Question

Hi!
I have need of an inline 18F-18M adapter, which traps particles of ABV that are too small to be stopped by the metal screen. The purpose is to keep my glass clean.
Currently, I'm taking a slitted dome "Carbon Filter", and filling it with 5mm glass beads. This works well for 2-3 bowls, then the trapped particles make a well-worn and lubed pathway, and the rest of the particles end up starting to flow and migrate to my glass!
I've tried cotton instead of beads, and the draw restriction becomes too harsh.
What is out there in the way of a non-bubbling inline filter for this purpose, which might work better than my glass bead filter?
I've already searched until I'm blue in the face... not finding much.

Can't help you, mate. I just clean the glass once in a while.

I do keep my glass clean... but in some pipes the particulates make the glass MUCH harder to clean than if they were not put into the pipe to begin with. It's for that reason that I'm trying to find a better solution for this.

Yeah, but I just am not envisioning anything that would effectively filter these particles without also hosing up your draw restriction...badly.

I know in the Vapcap world, Squiby uses degummed hemp fiber as a filter as she has very bad asthma. Will probably taste better than cotton but still not great.

Perhaps an adapter with a screen-thin layer of hemp fiber-screen in it and have the adapter between your vape and your rig.

Oh, wrt to cleaning...have you read the PBW thread from @t-dub? I use it and love it. Very easy. Don't work as well on concentrate reclaim (on which I do use ISO or ethyl) but cleans the heck out of glass used for flower. I just cleaned up my EVO Hydratube which gets a lot of use and a lot of residue and it came brilliantly clean with no real effort. Bit of hot water, then add to that bit of PBW, pout it into your rig let it sit for 5 minutes (10 max), rinse well.

I use degummed hemp fiber, which is similar in function to the cotton. If it's too restrictive, just use less and fluff it up more. The ultimate benefit being the session I get when I replace the filter and vape the used one!

I hope you like it. It's the best solution I've found, albeit not perfect. The hemp fiber imparts some taste, but not much as and nothing like the laundry taste you get from cotton. Here's a pretty good discussion on it. Bottom line, it keeps the glass cleaner longer, my lungs less gunked up, and the reclaim is the easiest and strongest I've found!

Still waiting for hemp fiber... should be here Saturday.

Took a look at that Ehle Dirt Trap, and said to myself "Damn... here I am living in the U.S., land of everything you could possibly want if you have the cash... except for that beautiful unobtainable contraption that only the Europeans seem smart enough to make, sell, and buy!

Looked at various lab glassware pieces in search of a different solution, and suddenly ran across the Ehle dirt trap contraption, but in a different form! Apparently, in chemistry, they have something called a "Rotary Evaporator Bump Trap" which is IDENTICAL to the Ehle piece, but without the angled glass "taper arm" piece or decorative green dot. Found a 19mm (18mm in the stoner world! ) small 25ml capacity M-F straight version over on Ebay. Ordered, due to arrive end of next week (assuming it isn't coming from FL... I forgot to check! )

I'll keep everyone up to date on these experiments as they evolve!

Try looking for glass splash heads, if I remember correctly it's the lab glass nomenclature for this kind of things. In Europe they are sometimes called Stutzer joints or something like that.

After many days of experimentation, I've found that Degummed Hemp Fiber is the ultimate solution for this problem. I now take a small wad of it, loosely packed, and place it inside of one of the Kjeldahl rotary evaporator traps, or on top of one of my carbon filter adapter bead traps. This keeps almost all particles from the insides of my pipes, and has a nice side benefit:

Vaping those screens after they've done their work is MIND BLOWING!
