Putin is a War Criminal
I like using my lighter with an ignition lock. But I'm always careful and aware that I'm using it and that I must handle with caution and control.

So far my house is still standing.
Hey, mine is still standing too, thank the earth mother. But I learned 2 lessons. My vape station should be made of materials that are not highly flammable and _I_ should NOT use a flame lock on a torch I am hand holding. YMMV

Sorry bud, didn't mean that to come off as sarcastic or belittling in any way.

Truth be told I mostly now use Pipes Induction Heater.

Glad you aren't toast

Vertigo Z-Plus 2

https://www.dynavap.com/dynashop/accessories/z-plus-2-dual-torch

What a great torch lighter !

The lighter is a dual torch ( jet ) flame ,but the outlets are positioned in such way
that the two flames are shaped in an upside down " V " .
That makes the lighter to operate as a super pointy and super precise single flamed ,
still with the "horsepower" of a dual flamed .

If you like heating the VC with a single torch ,you gonna love this lighter.

The insert (cartridge ) seems to fit in a original classic Zippo shell .
Made out of high quality materials and parts ,that usually are to be found
on lighters of higher price.

At the bottom of the insert are located 1 ) the flame regulation :
A small plastic- pointy- indicator ,attached on a metal screw.
The plastic indicator serves also as a "range limiter" (it can be taken out and placed in a different position ,thus altering the initial "min ", "max " and in between flame power. Not recommended if you do not know exactly what you're doing ) .

One can adjust the flame using i.e. the tip of a pen ,
not only with a #0 flat screwdriver .

and 2) the refueling valve :A screw-in ,high quality metal valve.
While the first fueling ( lighter came empty ) valve was rather "stiff".
It gets really softer to push down on the next couple of refuelings.
Volume of gas tank seems to be close to 2 ml ( when at 85% full ? Seems so...) .

The outer shell is made of sturdy but still lightweight sheet of steel.
It is powder-coated with a quite thick layer of black paint.

I've used some fine sandpapers and water ,to give a "worn-out " finish.
I'm not sure if the steel is stainless.Time will reveal that.
Fact is that is strongly ferromagnetic and most of stainless steel alloys are not.

The lighter is quite lightweight to carry in a pocket .
Overall a great lighter for it's price tag.

Pros :
- Sturdy,lightweight,workhorse
- High altitude operation ,up to 12000 feet
- Large gas tank volume ( ~ 2ml )
- High quality construction and parts
- Really smooth & reliable operation
- Button won't get hot after prolonged operation ( > 10" )
- Precise yet powerful " ^ " shaped - dual flame ,with two inner blue cores
- All-Time-Classic looks
- Easy to check the remaining fuel due to 100% transparent gas tank
- Lifetime warranty
- Cheap ,still made in U.S.A.

Cons:
- Tank material seems rather sensitive and prone to cracking.
(Mine came already with a tiny -rather superficial -crack,
but is not leaking gas whatsoever )
- Shell's top cover ( lid ) has a bit of sideways movement

Bonus:
- Cartridge fits an original Zippo shell
- Comes with a nice nylon pouch ,
that will accommodate-rather tightly- also a
standard (<> 92 mm , Φ 10 mm ) Vapcap along with the lighter

A "must have" item for the Vapcap users that like precision while heating the cap
and/or use single torch lighters .

CAUTION : The gas tank is made out of a polymer that deteriorates if comes
in contact with Isopropyl Alcohol.Never use Isopropyl alcohol to clean the
cartridge / tank .

UPDATE # 1
: The shell material of the Z-Plus 2 torch lighter most probably
is made out of a ferromagnetic stainless steel alloy.

Some notes on the Vertigo ,Lotus & Black Label lighters :

-For lighters with a fuel window, a small air bubble will
be visible even when the tank is completely full.

-For safety purposes, lighter fuel tanks are designed to
accept only 85% liquid.

-BLEEDING THE FUEL TANK
•Unless instructed, bleed only
when flame begins to drop
and the fuel tank is nearly
empty.
•Hold the lighter in a vertical,
upright position.
•Depress the filler valve with a
small screwdriver, until all
fuel is expelled and the
hissing stops. Shake lighter,
then repeat to ensure it is
completely bled.

-CLEANING BURN CHAMBER
•For long-term reliability, clean the burner
chamber periodically with compressed air.
This will help keep the chamber free of dust,
lint and carbon build-up, which affects the
lighter’s performance.
•Hold the lighter in a vertical, upright position.
•Expose the burner chamber without igniting
the lighter.
•Keep the tip of the compressed air canister
away from the catalyzer (ignition wire) or
damage may occur.
•Blow out the burn chamber with 3 short bursts
of air.
•Allow the lighter and the butane gas to reach
room temperature before igniting.

-ALTITUDE ISSUES
Butane lighters are subject to altitude problems. They are a
subject to fuel to air ratios that must be met for the lighter to
function properly.
As you go higher, the air is less dense and contains less oxygen.
As you go lower, air density increases and contains more oxygen.
You must decrease the butane flow by rotating the fuel
adjustment clockwise (-) as you go higher in altitude; and increase the butane flow
-rotate adjustment counterclockwise (+) as altitude decreases.
Experiment with the adjustment at different altitudes, and you will
find the lighter works properly.
If the lighter was fueled at a lower altitude than you are operating
it at, an air lock can occur just in front of the valve. A partial
release of the pressure with the adjustment valve positioned
above the tank will equalize the pressure and eliminate the air
lock.

( At this point it becomes pretty obvious ,why the adjustable flame power range.
Living in low altitude-near sea level- leave the "limiter " as is .
If you are living at a place of higher altitude,
then the whole range should be decreased : Set at minimum position, remove plastic limiter from screw ,re install plastic limiter at "max" position /or anywhere higher than "minimum"
)

-TEMPERATURE ISSUES
Butane does not ignite well at less than 55°F.
If outdoors in cold conditions, keep the lighter inside a pocket or
close to your body so that the fuel is above 55°F.
If the lighter has been exposed to cold temperatures, warm the
lighter in your hand for 2 min. prior to lighting.

-AIRLINE REGULATIONS
Windproof torch, turbo and coil lighters are not allowed on most
airplanes even if there is no gas in the lighter. Attempting to
board an airplane with a windproof lighter in either your carry-on
luggage or your checked baggage may result in the loss of your
lighter and unexpected travel delays. Airline regulations are
always changing, so check with your travel agent before
travelling.

And another MDF *"zippo insert " / jet lighter option :
(*Merging Double Flames )

Vector Thunderbird 2T

Th_Insert_2T.jpg

http://vectorkgm.com/official/thunderbird-lighter/

" Jet Torch Lighters create a thin, needle-like blue flame. This creates a high intensity flame that allows the user to visually pinpoint an area where the flame hits.

Jet Turbo (aka Coil ) Lighters

As butane gas flows into the internal burner cylinder, the piezo spark ignites a flame and heats up the catalyzer (coil). The burning catalyzer creates a flame that is intensely high in temperature. It does not blow out against the wind making it genuinely windproof under any weather conditions. When lighting cigars and cigarettes, it is critical that they be lit an inch away from the burning catalyzer. Do not tamper with the burning catalyzer under any circumstances. Prevent dirt, dust, and ashes from penetrating into the inner part of the lighter as they can seriously jeopardize normal functioning of a jet turbo lighter. Longevity of a jet turbo lighter depends heavily on how clean the lighter is kept.

Can someone PM or shoot me a short list of pocket sized, reliable triple torches? Just got a vapcap M and OMG!!!!! I need a torch good enough for this baby, and the head shops only have cheapos that are pocket sized seems like. I know there's a ton of into, but I'd appreciate a short list!

Seems like you prefer triple flame torches. I use a single flame torch and it DRINKS butane. How is the butane usage with these triple flame ones?

Nope,I do not prefer triple flamers and in fact I do not own even a single one of them.
Personally I'm a hardcore fan & user of single flame jet torch ( or coil for outdoors ) lighters.
Still yes ,you're right ,the triple and quad flamers they do consume a lot of butane gas .

Neat! I have another question. I'm a new owner of a dynavap and I made a mistake and combusted. Fuck combustion. I found that the cap still works but it has a nasty flavor to it. Do I just clean this with iso?

Yes,you can use isopropyl alcohol to clean the cap ,as well as the rest of the VC device.
Another very good option regarding cleaning substances-just for the cap and the outter part of the tip -
is baking soda ( with the aid of an old toothbrush and/or ear q-tip ).
From my experience baking soda does a better job -than isopropyl alcohol -
removing burnt debris stuck inside the cap and neutralising any combustion left-over odors.

But we 're derailing enough from the thread's topic .
Let us stay to lighters .

Cheers.

Never would 've thought that those " Hongjing " ,though being cheapos, are good enough and reliable.
Are they really ?

I bought five over one year ago and I'm still using the first one. Big gas tank, tool less flame adjusting, reliable piezo. Lights up at the first try 90% of times.

These are what I have, and they are horribly inconsistent. Thanks for the recommendations!

could you explain (or perhaps show pics) this one a littlee more please?

Jet Torch lighters
They produce a thin ,needle / lance shaped flame ,with a very hot " blue core " .
Not so windproof lighters and their operation gets really affected severely by altitude.
You can find jet torch lighters with a single flame or dual ,triple or quad flames.
The torch flame is almost impossible to see in broad daylight.
It's quite rare to find a torch lighter with tinted flame(s) .
Best suited for heating the VC indoors.

cohiba-brand-pocket-turbo-lighter-metal-windproof-torch-jet-flame-gas-cigarette-cigar-lighter-w-double-cigar-punch.jpg

HE1185a-480x360.jpg

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Jet Turbo (or Coil ) lighters

They produce a rather uniform ,diamond shaped and thick flame, without a hot inner blue core.
This type of jet lighters they have a thin wire /metal plate right at the outlet aperture .
That is called a "catalyzer coil " .
It is very sensitive to mechanical stress and dirt /debris and
if it gets damaged the lighter will stop working completely.
They are really windproof and not so sensitive with altitude differencies.
Usually they can be found only as single flamers .
Quite often they do have tinted flame(s)- green, orange, red, purple or blue - ,
in order for the flame(s) to be easily seen in broad daylight.
Very good option for both indoor and outdoor use .
They are more reliable ,although more prone to damage and
tend to consume less gas than their jet torch counterparts.

Can't help it,really.
I 've to add my personal "touch" to almost everything I'm acquiring .

Buffered and electo-etched .Garage extreme sports.

" Mask " made with laser printer .
Transferred to lighter with an ordinary cloth's iron.
Electro-etched with an ear q-tip soaked in saturated salt water and with 12 Volts PSU.
(Anode to lighter shell ,cathode to q-tip).

So "Respect the click " it is !
(my other thought was
"If you want to have sex with me ,smile when you hand me the lighter back"
,but hey ... It's too long .And not so sexy as the "respect the click" .:p )

By now "customising " my Z-Plus II is finished .
Hope you like it ,too.

Cheers.

Detail of the etched moto :

Well ,not exactly fine outlines like a laser etch ,but ok ...
Think about the fact that it was made in under 10 minutes (from start till finish ) at
the kitchen .
It's rather good ,me thinks .

EDIT :
Could'nt resist.Added a CCD -floral motif on the other side :

Sorry for the long post .
