I wish I hadn't see this. Now I have to fight the temptation to buy a really expensive sapphire halo at 25% off until september 4th.
You don't have anything to fight off unfortunately. The sapphire stuff is not on sale. I was tempted to get the halo and added to the cart but the code didn't work for it. Same with the halo and Sic stuff.

Oh thank you for telling me that, I just saw it was $240. Now I can actually go look at their sale for things and not be scared of the sapphire halo.

So I picked up some new goodies from d-nail on the sale, LOVING the sapphire Halo, the flavor is noticeably "dryer" and cleaner than the sic Halo and being able to see the material swirl around the dish is really cool. I also picked up another v2 cap and when i was just holding it and admiring the finish i noticed they changed the design ever so slightly, the underside of the cap on the unit i bought 11 months ago is slightly raised in the middle to accommodate the post of the Halo, but this new unit has a much more pronounced dome, possible 3-4x as deep, also and maybe more importantly the carb hole itself is smaller, I used a wooden qtip stick to verify and it seems at least 1-2 drill bit sizes smaller, from the top down i can see about 90% through the old carb hole, on the new one its just a sliver. Im not certain the carb hole is anything more than possible manufacturing tolerances but the underside dome of the cap is definitely intentional.

I got my carb cap and I am very impressed by it. Up until a couple months ago I was just using a cheap China carb cap that sat on the lip of the bowl. It worked so I never bothered to get the dnail one. A couple of months ago I got the TAG carb cap when I got the New Vape Flowerpot. It worked better than the China cap and would stay on hands free if positioned right. The problem is I was always fumbling around trying to get it to seat right and sometimes it would fall off. It is a pretty hefty chunk of metal as well so I was afraid it was going to break my bong one day.

This d-nail carb cap is awesome. It fits the SiC dish perfectly and sits on there super firmly no worries about it falling off once you remove your hands from it. The seal it makes it air tight and is leaps and bounds above any other carb cap I have tried for the SiC dish. I was being cheap before I just couldn't believe a carb cap could be worth $75! Boy was I wrong. If you have a D-nail halo dish and don't have a D-nail carb cap do yourself a favor and get one. If you're buying a halo don't be a cheap ass like me :bang: and be sure to buy the carb cap with it.

When I got my SiC Halo, I went a week without the V2 Ti Carb cap. I tried using other carb caps and as well as the glass jar bottoms too. Because just like you all, i couldnt spend $75 on a Ti carb cap. But that was the most frustrating week ever I had vaping and just said F it and ordered it. When I first used it. i was like this better be the best thing in the world and to be honest, it was probably the most important purchase for me.

With the V2 carb cap, I get little to no puddling at all, milker and tastier hits as it seals the Halo perfect and was able to drop my temp to 505F (display temp on Mininail).

Now the thing I hate about this carp cap is how hot this thing gets. Someone on FC mentioned they use a qtip as a handle which actually works well. But the rubber/silicon tub to wrap around the handles seems like a great idea that i will have to try. I love FC for all the suggestions and ideas!

I do wish they make a Boro Halo carb cap. To All of you who get the SiC or any Halo dish from D-Nail, the matching carb cap is a MUST!

I ordered the cap right from the start so I dont know about other caps for the SiC Halo. It works great, makes a very nice seal, and no puddling for me also.

@Shooby you are right, that cap gets super hot. I still need to come up with a fix for that. Very happy with the performance of the SiC Halo.

@grokit has a nice solution for hot carb caps.

He uses a silicone sleeve. It's silicone tubing with about a quarter inch od.

It really works well and you can still use the forked end of the carb cap for dabs.

I cut my tubing to fit from the base to the largest diameter part of the stem.

Is there any threads about Dnail Quartz Halo vs Dnail SiC Halo? I am curious to know if the Dnail Quartz Halo provide more flavor than SiC and why would anyone prefer it over SiC.

I have used other quartz halos, not Dnail's Quartz halo with Wik Tech and it does not compare to the Dnail SiC halo. I always puddle and the flavor was just ok compared to SiC.

I dont want to spend $100 to find out and would rather spend that $100 towards a Sapphire Halo. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you FC!

I've owned all three and the Quartz Halo was my least favorite.
Rarely used it; SiC was definitely superior.

However, Sapphire can't be beat.

I like the taste of my sapphire insert (not halo) more than my d-nail sic halo. I don't think it's worth the extra $200 for the sapphire halo over the sic one though. I think it's better, just not $200 better. I like both over my quartz, but it's from tag and not d-nail. I have not tried a d-nail quartz halo.

Quartz is old news that even a "wik surface" (makes jerk off motion) can't save. The ONLY thing you lose vs SIC is being able to see the dab cook, which sapphire lets you do.

SIC is superior in practically every for our purposes and while sapphire is ultimately a cleaner experience, I can't say its $200 cleaner, but its definitely a noticeable difference and an upgrade

Your setup might, but as I and others have hinted at before, you're doing it wrong......or perhaps more appropriately, no where near as good as you should.

Ive said it before and ill repeat, a properly tuned in Dnail SIC halo and V2 cap chugs like nothing I've ever seen in the enail game. The cap is critical, the fact its an actual Halo vs TAGs SIC is critical, proper temps and preheating the cap are also very very important, when you do all of these things and they come together like the perfect dab storm, its really nothing short of glorious. I only stress it so much because i was a fully admitted Dnail Sic Halo hater, couldn't get it to chug for the life of me and after a few weeks literally gave my setup away for free. Found this forum, did a lot of reading and even more learning, tried another Sic halo armed with proper knowledge and now Id put the Sic Halo dab for dab against any nail setup in the world with money on the line.

Thank you for your input. I will not invest in the Quartz Halo and will first get the D-Nail Sapphire Insert before committing to a Sapphire insert. I know if I like the Sapphire taste from the insert, I would want the whole halo to be sapphire and spend the big bucks.

I couldnt see the new D-Nail Quartz Halo being that great even with the WIK surface. But they are charging more for Quartz than SiC and I wasnt sure if I was missing something. I have no complaints with my Dnail SiC Halo. I remember switching from Ti to Quartz and I was like WHOA! Then going from Quartz to SiC, I was like nice, everything I didnt like about the Quartz halo is gone with the SiC. Next step is from SiC to Sapphire.

I love my SiC with V2 carb cap and just ordered the slim line base basically setting up for Sapphire!

Curious...what do you mean by "chug" in this context?

I should have defined that along time ago, to me, chugging is turning a rice sized piece of material into a 10x10 room filled with clouds.......not an exact measurement, but close. Im not talking harsh, high temp clouds either, Ive been running my Halo setup at 490 coil lately, and still CHUGS.
There are nails that can taste better IMO (Liger) but even then, not by leaps and bounds, whereas the Halo out chugs anything short of a hot torched KO homeless ti nail.

Just curious, what were you doing wrong the first time?

I guess I did my reading before I bought. In fact a sic halo is my first enail of and kind. I did buy the sapphire insert, but haven't tried it yet.

I never liked torch hits or anything high temp. (Asthma) too hot of hits get me coughing.

I do like getting multiple hits off small loads. The taste. Ease of cleaning. Pretty much everything, lol.

Primarily not having the v2 cap, and then when i got it, not preheating it and having it pull my dish temp down to low, and me compensating by cranking the nail temp.....so id either get the yoda stew Eat Rocks mentioned, or burnt oil.

And then thinking that if 1 temp works well with 1 nail, it most likely won't for a different nail, or even different coil.
