Cannabis tea question

I have some what was very good quailty buds, still is good . maybe even better now that it has been in a mason jar for over a year maybe even a year and a half im not sure exactly at least a year anyway.

So here is my question i wondering if i filled a tea bag with this bud ground up and steeped it as you would a normal tea would i get medicinal effect from it without getting a buzz ? Could i get a buzz just because its old and probably natrally decarbed? Or Would you still have to basicaly simmer it with milk and buttter for it to be pshycoactive?

Im not really looking for a buzz from it and would actully rather not get a buzz but just medical benifits . would this work ? Any ideas?

I'm not totally sure, but I think it would need to be decarbed to activate the THC. I know it works after decarb when infused into butter or oil, but not sure how it would work without a fat source. I would be interested in knowing this also, as tea is one of my favorite beverages.

The milk will be the fat needed..???
I'm sure this would work with decarbed product... I used to put a solo stem in my tea and that worked sooo.....???
I would use hemp milk not cow juice....

You could use ABV but the flowers would need to go through the decarb process. 240 degrees for 40 min. Put your flowers in foil and seal before putting in the oven.

Cannabis infused milk.
Steep your decarbed flowers or ABV in with the whole milk and maybe add a little cream for 1 hour on low heat on the stove. You need the fat and the constant heat. Don't let it boil and stir every few min. Strain the cannabis from the milk. Then use the milk in whatever such as cereal, tea, coffee and hot cocoa or whatever you decide.

Depending on how much cannabis you use, you can be slightly medicated or blasted. Start slowly when finding dosage.

thanks for posting everybody :) maybe im not clear enough with what im wondering .
i dont really want it to be psychoactive at least not really for my first try but medicinal , if that is possible . im pretty sure i have read that its thca and cbda before its decarbed and its still medicinal ? .

i understand for it to have psychoactive effects it needs to be decarbed as well as the cannabiniods need some kind of fat to be absorbed .

i wondering if because my buds are already aged from storage for a year and a half , will they already be naturally decarbed and likely psychoactive if just eaten raw anyway ? i have read that it naturally decarbs with age ?

this could mean i might get a surprise that i may not really be wanting , if you know what i mean lol .
well ok maybe if it was just a little bit of a mellow glow it would be ok and maybe even better . but for now i would like to just make a simple tea steeped like regular tea , maybe without a bag but then strained . what i would like to know has anyone tried anything like this or have experience with anything similar ?

basically if i didnt decarb or simmer in any kind of fat . would i still first of all be getting medical benefits with the thca and cbda and all the other stuff without the buzz ?

and second because its aged for quite a while am i likely to not be able to get around the not having any psychoactive effect because its probably already partially decarbed from the aging process ?:science:

The below article will do a better job of explaining it than I will but the skinny is THC-A will oxidise over time to CBN not CBD.

https://www.massroots.com/learn/what-is-cbn-cannabinol

CBN is far less psychoactive than THC. See above article for known effects.

I suspect you'd be fine to steep in hot (not boiling hot) water without blowing your head off.

CBN and CBD like THC are not water soluble.

Not made cannabis tea myself so I'd suggest despite the above intel, you should go easy and just use a pinch.

You shouldn't need much for health benefits or flavour anyway.

i didnt mean that thca turns into cbda . i was referring the acid bit that is freed when heated its thca then heated or decarbed and then its thc the active way we enjoy it . im pretty sure its the same with cbda after its decarbed it loses the A part and its cbd . something like that i think .

but i also read that cannabis can decarb naturally without heat im not meaning degrading into cbn but going from thca to thc just instead of by heat just by time ?

Ah yeh I believe cannabis will decarb over time.

From my understating decarb is constantly happening at a slow rate but applying heat speeds it up.

So the answer is: I have no idea how much decarb has affected your cannabis.

I have read that just steeping cannabis without fats can cause the actives to float on top of the liquid (they are oils and hydrophobic) and evaporate but I don't know enough about it myself to guarantee a specific result.

ok well thanks for trying to help , i guess there is only one way to find out :D .
i did do a bit of googling . and read about how in jamaica they make a tea purposely using the plant early before fully mature and this tea is not made to be that psychoactive and they even give it to kids .
they use it for all kinds of remedies . interesting stuff

I have a very faint memory of making cannabis stem tea in 2000. It was a long time ago so I can't remember the exact situation (was I toking at the same time perhaps?) but I remember getting a very low level buzz that made me clumsy and uncoordinated for several hours.

It was about a half a quart jars worth of cannabis stems in a tea pot and we had no idea what we were doing.

Give it a try but just go easy and start small.

Do you know how much you'd need to use in order to get a "health benefit"?

My grandparents grew cannabis on their farm when I was a kid. It was a true multipurpose plant. It grew fast in the short intense prairie summers and the long roots that developed anchored the topsoil in place and protected against soil errosion. The thick foliage created an instant hedge and buffered the strong winds. That also helped minimize soil errosion. It was drought resistant and didn't compete with the crops planted next to it.

As a child, whenever I was sick, my grandmother would make a tea from fresh leaves just collected from the plants. She'd throw a handful of leaves into a pot and add enough water to cover. It was really more of a decoction than a tea as she would simmer it for a while. I don't know if she added in anything else but it was always clear so no milk or cream. It always made me feel better and put me to sleep. I don't remember feeling stoned but it definitely make me feel good. :)

Sounds good, might have to try some fresh fan leaves decoction ;)

I'd start with much less than a gram.

Maybe 0.2g to start with, doubling each time.

0.2 with this delivery method should be fine.

We had a wellness clinic in my area and they taught folks to juice the cannabis that they grew for themselves just using the fresh leaves. You could mix in apples to help with flavor. Juicing cannabis is suppose to be really healthy. You don't get any psycho actives just a healthy smoothie.
You wouldn't use any of the flowers.

The answer looks like yes from what little info there is on it, RAW leaves juiced is supposed to also be beneficial.

All the good cannabinoids are not water soluble, so just infusing in water isn't going to work, I don't think. You would need to actually eat the plant material in the bottom ! (assuming it has been decarbed).

I make my teas with an MCT oil or a vegetable glycerine tincture. Just add it to normal tea. Chai is even better. You could also make cannamilk as someone suggested.

Got you) My friend told me I could make Marijuana tea or even coffee a half year ago. And must say I was shocked about it) You should google more about it on websites like this https://addictionresource.com/drugs/marijuana/liquids-and-drinks/ because my first problem was making it correctly. And must say first tries were awful. But then my friends gave some advice and read a lot of info from forums and now to make it a lot simpler and more comfortable. So don`t hesitate to ask)

THCA has been shown to have some medicinal properties. I highly recommend the cannabis science podcast. They go into the science of cannabis issues and the host is a doctor who does research in the cannabis and pharmaceutical areas. There is some evidence that the acid forms of phytocannabinoids can help with certain issues but the sad truth is we don't really know. Prohibition has set us back decades in the area of cannabis research.
