Got another error5/7 model here. :/
I fucking love the S2, though. ._. So pissed I have to send it in for the simple reason I can't use it anymore. D:<
EDIT: Btw if anyone is wondering how good it is, it cured my VAS and the only vape I intend on buying in the foreseeable future is Alan's InstaHeat, purely because I've never had an Alan vape and an on-demand HI sounds fucking incredible, if only as functional art.

Noob here in need of a little advice.
My use is usually medicinal: a tiny bit before bed each night to get myself to sleep. I was close to taking the plunge and ordering a Solo II, but looking at some videos, it seems like it might not be great for the tiny amounts I normally use -- but I'm not sure.
Does anyone have any insights as to how well this works when you're not remotely packing the glass to capacity? Perhaps even just a few crumbs at a time? Does that work at all? Maybe with some sort of screen contraption?
(I saw the Magic Flight Launch Box recommended for small amounts, but I just can't bring myself to spend $120 on what appears to be $5 worth of wood and copper in a DIY project -- no matter how much people seem to like it).
Any opinions or advice would be greatly appreciated!

You can easily use micro doses in the Solo 2 with a screen or some cotton in the bowl to reduce space. Check the last couple of pages as this topic came up.

Actually you named my number one recommendation based on what you say you want (ability to get a modest hit or two on demand without firing up an entire load. IMO it's well worth the money, no matter the appearance, as evidenced by it's huge following. Many of us keep and still use ours many years later. Once you use one you'll come to understand how elegant that design really is. There's a reason it's so widely counterfeited.
Then I'd suggest considering Vapor Genies or a VapMan (a personal favorite), where heat is added by lighter rather than electricity. Both are well respected, proven performers.
Solo II is a great vape, as are Solo I and Air, but IMO a poor match to you. At least at this point.

Rotating my replacement Solo II and two Solo OGs. My two Airs are on the shelf not getting much <3. With my two VXL Clouds, guess I could open a vape bar or throw a party where everyone gets a dedicated vape. Boy, do I have a stem collection! One thing I have learned from the Solo II is Solos don't need screens! Don't use them anymore, one less thing to deal with. The replacement Solo II works flawlessly. Here's hoping none of us ever see an Error 5 or 7 again.

I have some Blueberry Trainwreck in my Solo 2 with a coarse grind, the short stem without a screen and my tempreture is at 377. Good flavor and milky vapor and it's not as hot outside as yesterday so everything is going well.
I think later I will get the j hook out, I will need to look for my GonG or I could use my WonG.
I bought my j hook through PlanetVape they are out of Canada.
@m0sh i think you will really like the Solo 2. I'm not interested right now in buying another vaporizer. My VAS is temporary cured.

Currently have black widow CBD in my solo II and it's being run through water. Amazing flavour with this strain.
I still find it really strange to take a huge pull of high CBD flower and not get the normal THC type effect.

So so...yesterday was brutal to me and I was unable to try the solo....the thing is, being home and having a cloud evo really makes it hard to choose other vapes ... even just to try...but tonight, I'll be going head to head with the Solo II vs the crafty.
I assume using the solo 2 is pretty much the same as using solo 1? my only question is the fill size, is it similar? i used to put 0.1g - 0.12g in a bowl, grounded and in between 2 screens.
I also can't wait to try the solo with a water adapter
I'm gonna keep my limited original HT home and use the cheap DHGate one, but I'm sure it would still be awesome.

I tried the Solo 2 out recently. Great deal and fast shipping as usual from Pufitup. Its very nice imo. Definitely a worthwhile upgrade from Solo or Air. I like it best with the shorter stem and without the water piece I had. I wS on a trip. Best of all I gifted it to a relative before I left. I will have to order myself one again soon.
Who sells the best Solo 2 short mouthpieces? black maybe. I know of Sneaky Pete but is ther anyone else. Planetvape dont seem to have much atm

Neat little shrine you've got going there......but why expand it a bit? Set up other 'worship centers' in other rooms then declare your house a Church? Or maybe a Mission......
Then you could tell the cops to leave your church alone and let you and your disciples worship according to your faith. Establish some rituals even.

It is basically a SS cage with perforations and flap/clip on one end to fill/empty the thing.
That way you could buy a load of these refill chambers fill'em up for long journeys then just pop them in/out as needed no scraping of the glass no having to cram more green in the end of the pipe with others watching...win,win! I hope this does already exist so I can just buy some but then if they don't i could be sat on a little gold mine, except I've just broadcast my awesome idea to the whole internet, i bet Google are our there right now plopping together a prototype you bastards!

I'm agnostic so a church is out. Uh, on second thought, I'm a pantheist. I'm at that point where I do give everyone their own vape to suck on -- which cuts down on the spread of herpes.@m0sh Haven't used my Clouds in over a year. Got to plug them suckers back in.

An attractive idea, for sure, perhaps even 'seductive'? The idea has merit in theory even if not practical.

The rub is thermodynamics (again). Conduction puts big constraints on controlling temperature when 'the heat load (taking a hit) is going on. The flow of heat to support that hit means a significant temperature drop even in vapes like FM that have much 'better' heat paths from this POV. All you can hope for is wimpy hits, taken slowly, spaced apart. Or you risk going seriously overtemperature between hits. The temperature sensor in Solo (inside the oven body) is just too removed from the load temperature. But, ironically, it's a great thing for bubble hash!
Anyway, the (thermal) resistance of the gap between glass and pod adds to the one between cup and stem, and the transmission through the walls of the stem (never good when you need to move calories to make vapor on demand anyway) and the results are poor.
Not to despair, other options are at hand. For instance, a few of the short stems from Air, loaded and capped with (the right temperature spec) vinyl caps:
The bottom cap is high temp, rated 450F for like 20 minutes, so it can be snapped on a hot stem. I cut them back about half way, so they're easier to snap on and off. Standard caps with short pieces of Silicone tube to mate with the flattened MP seal the other end 'smell tight' if you want. Also keeps out dirt and insects.
Arizer makes a cap for this, I'm not sure what the temperature rating is so I continue to use the high temp (hard) version from McMaster Carr.

I like to have a coarse grind with my Solo 2 because I'm not using a screen. I don't have a coarse grinder so I use my SLX grinder and just twist a couple times. Then open the area where the teeth are and use the cannabis that hasn't gotten completely ground up to a med grind. It's like using a two piece grinder. The SLX grinder that I have has the three pieces. I love it because it doesn't stick. I can turn it with ease.

I just tried to solo 2 for the first time and its exactly what I remembered and loved, just better.
Its like Solo II picked up where PVHES left, the airflow is great, I'd give 8/10 with the crafty being 9/10 and the first solo at 6/10 (with stock stem).
The units just feels the same for me, its like we never parted ways.
I'm really impressed with the improvements, the heat time is crazy fast, is it just me or the stem is bigger? (Circle circumference).
Anyway, I tried it once with the water adapter and ended up using it without water, like I did with Solo 1.
At 200C, it didn't feel harsh at all and I have no problems using a short pathway.
Overall, I'm going to have lots of fun discovering the solo in my 2 weeks of medical leave.
I was worried about "abandoning" my Cloud for 2 weeks, but after one session and 0.13g of an OK strain I have, I feel so safe with my Solo II.
It will get the job done, exceptionally.

I use about .05 which is a super tiny pinch in my Solo 2. Just buy some dome screens and it shrinks the load. Works fantastic. I use it that way every time.

Pretty subjective isn't it? I mean it should take say 3 times as many 'lower shelf' herb loads as the lovely offerings on that top shelf? Even more if it's 'local expedient, but reasonably priced home grown' and even wider if we're taking random Black Market street buys here?
And then there's the whole personal tolerance thing. Let's remember we have a well respected Member here who consumes an entire gram a month. Let me repeat that, he averages .25 grams a week, less than .05 a day. Can't really take his experience as useful for most of us?
I can say, with some certainly, it takes about five times as many .05 gram loads to equal as single 1/4 gram one. No magic, straight numbers. Best advice is for each user to experiment for him/her self?
