I was lucky enough to get my flower pot, auber 300, and tubo (and flam) on the same day.

Unfortunately it arrived like this:

After opening it a bunch of beads fell out and I saw they were all over. It went "What the fuck! Why are beads going everywhere? Why the hell would he use beads as packing material.... ohhhhhh the flam". They must have dislodged the basket screen when they inspected it and all the beads came out. I collected a bunch and thankfully you sent some extras.

With the beads do I just fill it enough so the basket screen fits and the beads don't move around? Can't wait to try this little guy out.

Hey

Very nice flam and tubo you've got there! Hope everything works as good as it looks.

Filling up with the glass beads as high as you described would be too much ime

You add and remove the glass beads depending on how hot/fast you want your flam to be.

more beads = slower
less beads = faster

don't remove too many beads though. I'd say I have around 40~ish in mine atm but that may be useless seeing as the diameter varies.

Cheers and looking forward to hearing your thoughts

great to see everything arrived more or less safe and sound.

i fill the flams with 1.5g of beads and supply another 1.5g in the small envelope.

i think at least 1 or better two layers of beads are necessary to stop the heat enough. if there are too many beads it takes a long time for the system to warm up (more than one draw) and produce vapor.

Finally used my flam last night. You can blame the tubo for the long wait. Whips and water adapters and different kinds of screens and X number of stems and combinations to try with that thing took a long time.

Technique for this guy is definitely a little different. I watched the video and pretty much copied that technique of just pointing the flame directly in it until I saw vapor for a second or two and then stopping. It does keep producing vapor for awhile after that, there's a weird sort of a lag to it if your used to some other vapes like this. I ran 2 enjoyable bowls through it.

Hand torn, no grind. First hit I pointed the flame directly in until I saw vapor and took it away a second or two later. Got a tasty small cloud. Second hit did the same and got a bigger cloud, third hit was about the same. Fourth hit I followed my usual pattern of getting overconfident/dumb and scorched it. Held the flame on there for too long. Though I didn't like scorching, I did like seeing how evenly everything got scorched. Wasn't just a spot or layer, it was a pretty uniform blackening of the whole bowl. There's definitely more to the beads than just heat retention.

Second bowl went about the same. Same technique with the torch, really good tasting lighter first hit with 2 medium ones afterwards. Then I got overconfident/dumb again and tried to back the flame off but hold it pointing in the whole hit. Evenly scorched load again.

Really happy with this so far, definitely a different experience from my other vapes with the glass beads being in there. I did scorch 2 loads, but I was trying to push it so I blame myself for those. I really like that I wasn't seeing any hot spots or local charring, the heat seems to go through really evenly. Really enjoying it so far.

Alright, now another butane vaporizer to add to my ever growing list. If it works as well as the tubo evic I know I will love it.
It's similar to a lot of other butane vapes, but the glass beads give it some heat retention so even after you pull the flame away it will keep vaping for a bit. I think hot glass beads do a great job of heating the air passing through them and spreading out the heat. Great price too.

Like I posted in the tubo thread it doesn't quite fit my D020-D, but it fits my D020 perfectly.

I like it, I like it a lot.

 The Tubo accessory game is desirable to say the least :brow:
I need to keep my mind out the gutter though before my wallet rolls in with it.

My favorite part about the Flam is looking on the sides when heating and seeing that bright orange glow
while its heating...it connects to my inner primitive self

Tempted by this one.
The price point it's almost a no brainer for me and one likes yours would match my Tubo.
How's it compare to the Flip Brick. Easier to work with, with less chance of combustion?
Honestly, it IS easier to control than the flip brick(for me anyway)...hard to actually say that because of my strong feelings towards SBL...but I much prefer the Flam to the Flip.

but thats also because i am heavy handed with flame vapes and the delicacy needed to ride the line with the flip evades me from time to time and the only way i can use it without worries of conjuring cherries...is by using it with S&B dosing capsules.

Anyone have suggestions for the smallest 18mm glass tube (j-hook or straight) that you could pair with the flam?

My flam is arriving soon, and looking for something very portable I can pair with the flam to take on the go.
Thanks!!

Well my Flam (ordered a month ago) arrived yesterday with a free j-hook! I see it is an addon for $10 now. You might get lucky or contact them later to buy one?

Edit: Just noticed the dates... did yours come with one? :D

I’ve been in contact with Ralph, as I was wondering why the order was taking so long. He mentioned that he was waiting for the perfect j hook to pair with the flam, and now that he has em delayed orders are being shipped out with a free j hook. What service! Mine has yet to arrive but I’m excited to try mine out when it arrives in the next few days!

Edit: Also this j hook happened to be EXACTLY the kind that I was looking to pair with the flam, as I have not seen a smaller one posted online. Definitely a good addition.

Hey guys. Just got a FLAM today with my repaired Tubo (thanks Ralph and Paddy). Like a total dumbass, I managed to combust when I was trying to use it with my new J-hook. Anyway, getting the smoky smell out has been a challenge. Anyone have a recommendation for the best way to clean your FLAM? Not sure if I should attempt disassembling it so I can iso soak the glass.
