First impressions are great. This thing is really compact :)
The pucks are coming out flatter than ever
It's a lot easier to use than the straighteners, less stress on my hands and the end product, i would say is a higher quality.

I also picked up a pack of the 1.8x3" 160mic bags so I'll have to try squashing 3.5 grams sometime to see if it actually flows out lol

Very interesting...so you set temp in centigrade and it displays actual temp in fahrenheit?

I highly recommend the 160 micron bags. I consistently get about 1% higher yields from the bags on my NS Mini than when I puck and squish.

I have no idea what it's showing on the screen in that pic lol.
I press below 200f and pretty sure I had it set to 195
[Edit] what does it show on the lower screen when you press the set button?

Playing with the Nugsmasher Mini again this evening :)

I pulled out 3.5 grams of some Skywalker which has been curing for a few months now

bagged it up

and started squishing

I ended up with 0.963 grams of rosin
I calculate that to be around 27.5% return which I think isn't bad at all

Isn't bad? That's total tits man, in So Cal, rosin of that quality easily goes for $100/g on the retail market. For the price of a NugSmasher, it's really a no brainer for the concentrate lover. I'm really hoping someone stuffs my stocking with one this year...
If you get one now you can get the money back quick before regulation starts next year ;)

Finally bit the bullet an ordered a NugCrusher Mini. Seems to be the only "safe" option here in Europe unless you build yourself. I figure if I ever need anything bigger then I will build it myself. I am looking forward to getting all the solvents out of the house. Now I can grow it, then squeeze it and finally vape it (everything goes in my trusty Hercules). Job done with no additives.

That was the conclusion I came to myself.
I guess it just hasn't taken off over here yet for there to be more options available, so I figured I would wait until there are.
The Nugsmasher Mini has been great so far though. The squish I did on Friday gave me enough rosin to last me the whole weekend and still have a small amount waiting for me at home for after work :)

Yeah, well, that's just, like, your opinion, man.
So after contemplating an upgrade for awhile, I too decided to jump in with the Nugsmasher mini - seems like a good step up from the 1/2 arbor setup I've been using. Currently it's 'out for delivery', so hopefully I can get some test presses in tonight. Looking forward to trying out this upgrade.

I'll check back in with some results

Is this feed for general rosin presses and parts? I'd like to discuss some of our newvape rosin press parts here. I ask because the last post I made got quickly kicked to it's own feed. I'm new to FC and want to confirm to proper ediquet. Interacting with our customers to help improve our products is my objective here not to critize other vendors.

what do you guys think of this? i almost want to give it a try. Almost.

I think it's way expensive. You can (I did) get a harbor freight 20 ton press and low temp plates for under $700.

Nice idea and all but crazy expensive compared with what's out there.

Low temp plates ($479 for 3x5) fit the HF press ($150) with nothing further to buy. Easy peasy and priced Right.

what temps are people using with 1 inch flat iron?
and for how long do you press?

i use a tonne of "manpressure" ill try that seems like a long while though, any others wanna chime in.

When I used a hair straightener I also used a vice, and pressed for a minute.

I'm a big guy, but the vice exerts much more than I could.

I had it turned down low, but no real idea of the actual temps.and I used a taco shell press to pre flatten buds.

yeah i'm gonna pooch my hands pressing like a fiend :) needs a vice. what i have been doing so far is about half gram to 3/4 gram nugs of kind buds, in parchment. lowest setting on iron is 310f so i squeeze like a fat mofo stranglin someone for the last krispy kreme doughnut in existence, for 12 seconds first press and 12 seconds second press, tasty but not much yields.

so are people squeezin for longer times?

thanks, looks like I need a nugsmasher now. are you running the mini? and what kind of yields and quility?

I use an hair straightener that doesn't have a temp setting, I've seen someone using a dimmer to low the temperature and I want to buy one. Any suggestion? Does the cheap ones work ok or should I look for some specifications?
Thanks guys.

Hi @graydeh1, yes I just have the mini for now.
Yields are highly dependant on the quality of the flower, and i keep forgetting to do the numbers, but I have calculated 27.5% when squashing some good quality Skywalker, 17% from some Amnesia haze and 18% from some em-dog.
When squashing with straighteners and the clamp, the most I think I ever saw was about a 10-20% return.
The quality of the rosin also improved I think due the the more consistent and accurate temperatures. It just tastes a bit better.
I'm not at all saying the nugsmasher is totally accurate though (I've not tested), just more so than the straighteners I was using.

I am getting 17% from my home grown indica which is nearlly a year old now but well cured and stored. I got hold of a bag of good fresh amnesia and that was closer to 20%.
I currently get a better result using a bag with about 3,5 grams.
I am waiting for a hand press so I can pre-press a puck. I am hoping that I can then get similar results as with the bag. bags a pretty difficult to hold of here in the EU and when you can find some they are rather expensive.

You're not going to be able to squash more than approx 1-1.5grams without a bag as the squashed puck will be larger than the plates.. I've tried :disgust:

yes even with a hair iron rosin seems dependent on a few key variables: first of all strain and quality then theres heat, pressure/length of press.

are there particular strains youve noticed work well?, and do you choose dense nugs? resiny nugs? dry nugs? fluffy nugs?

I just grab random bits out of the jar and either pre puck them or put them in a bag
They've been stored for a few months in jars with boveda 62 moisture packs.
I don't have the selection available to me to say with certainty, but I've found Kushes to be more resinous here. I remember Critical Kush and Holy Grail were pretty good.
Dense resinous buds would be more preferable imho
