All of my best wishes for the absolute best outcome. Do hang strong and lean on us by posting what's up, if that's at all helpful. Good luck, mate.

thanks Baron!

end of 1st cycle of chemo, new cycle starts next week. Got through the radiation ok (generally).

chemo punked me out pretty damn well, see the onc-doc wednesday for lab results and continuing plan.

You are tough, my friend. I can tell. So, keep an even strain but keep fighting.

I'm sure my offering comfort and support via an internet BBS is thin gruel to you, but its all I can offer and offer it I do.

Remember what a good antiemetic MJ is. Rest, positive outlook, staying engaged socially and with others, all of this is important also.

Will a person have issues with a current med recommendation from a dr, and a passport (if they do not have a CA id)?

Currently, Its only available to residents of California. I am not sure if you live or did live in this state or just visiting. If you currently have a rec from a California doctor with a stamped seal and use your passport as an ID, it may work. That is if the CA rec passes verification. I know i have used my passport in the past when i lost my wallet but the dispensary knew me as well.

I also used my passport to get my CA rec once but had to bring a couple of utilities bills to prove i was a resident of CA. Yes, I do lose my wallet often! Or misplace it.

@mixchu69 If you have a medical rec, check out Loud & Lavish  they're rec only, but have great buds, and the price is a fucking steal! 5 for $35 all day every day, and $200 oz.. it's the only place I've been going to for a while now.. it's kind of out of my way (not as much as a trip to LA though! been years since I've done that), but it's the only place I go to these days, since the day it opened... I only go there for flowers, they have great flowers IMO, the low price can seem deceiving.

Let me know if you check it out and what you ended up w/  maybe you've already been there? If not, you should know it can be a little weird to find the first time, so you might wanna take the phone number w/ you..

:peace:
That's my go to spot for flower and edibles! Great deals. Their house concentrates are pretty nice and clean too, they gave some away on 4/20 (shatter, crumble, and moon rocks). I just wish they had better prices on Kurvana and it would be a one stop shop for me.

Not sure about up in Santa Monica, @FlyingLow, but down here in the OC there are definitely places that will sell to anyone 21+ rec or not (not surprising given that many in the OC are operating in contravention of city ordinances anyway). Usually they'll advertise that fact on WM. They tend to be more sketchy places though, so be warned.

Their gift bags are probably the best I've ever had.. I always found some really bomb stuff at LL, I've been going since opening day, but coincidentally, right after I made that last post ^^ I went there the same day, and I feel like it hasn't quite been the same since.. I went again the other day and it's looking better again, but it's still not quite the same level of quality I'd been used to since they opened.. Still I got some really bomb buds  Often there used to be too many super bomb strains to decide on, I'd always feel like a kid in a candy store (the array of glue strains the were getting a while back were all off the hook!!).. Lately I feel like I'm lucky to find 1-2 that I feel that way about.. I figure it's just a slump, and I'm actually pretty surprised how long they kept it going strong for.. The nugs have seem a little more rushed lately IMO, but I don't expect it to last forever..

BTW Have you ever noticed that the girl w/ the braces always gives out the shittiest nugs in the jar, no matter what, every single time, even if it's full of almost all fat bomb nugs!? Guaranteed every time :bang: :disgust: She really lowers the bar for that spot IMO.. I go there and pass a bunch of other spots on the way because I want bomb nugs, but when I get served by her, I get only tiny, loose bottom nugs, and crumbs, every time.. I guess I can't complain too much for 5g for $35, but I drive the extra distance for the quality I've known them to (mostly) maintain, the bomb deal is just a huge bonus.. I always leave happy when I get served by anyone other than her.. She wasn't always there either, she came along later.. I remember her first day there, when she gave me a strain I never wanted or even asked to see, even though I told her a handful of times that I didn't want it.. it sucks getting back home and finding out instead of the strain I really wanted, I got the exact one I didn't want :bang: :bang:  Anyways, Yeah, I like that spot

Sucks to hear about that particular tender, most of the folks there are good. I think I know who you are referring to, is she one of the daytime crew? I usually go in the evening so I don't see too much of her. My girl Sara on the evening crew is my fave (blonde with tats), always has good recommendations and hooks you up the fattest dabs (if you want). I mean seriously huge dabs, last time I went to Wal Mart afterwards to pick up dinner ingredients and it felt like I was on another planet. Luckily my fiancee remembered what we were there for.

I think they're getting more popular with some of the bigger guys nearby shutting down (notably 420 Exchange and Re-Up recently), so I think that is playing into the availability issues you're seeing in regards to variety. I usually make sure they have a big selection on WM before I go, they're pretty good about updating the menu. I think they'll get those issues figured out if the increase in business is consistent, they seem like a capable operation to me.

Yeah, she must be part of the day crew, I've gotten her later in the day though too I'm pretty sure, but I go at all different times when I go so it's hard to say.

I know what you mean about Sara, she's my favorite too! She does always give monster dabs  even if you ask for a small one  I usually get a medium one and it takes me a few lungs to finish  She always sets me up w/ the best of the best nugs too, she's got high standards.. The rest of them are awesome too, for sure!

I didn't realize Re-Up shut down.. I haven't been there in years, I'm not even sure where their last spot was.. They were huge for a while and got a ton of traffic, back when they had HRC too..

I never used to check the menu before going in because there was always a good amount of bomb strains to pick from, but lately, I have been.

Yeah, they were in a strip mall on Garden Grove Blvd next to 4/20 Exchange (busier dispensary than Re-Up actually) and Quality 35 (smaller place than either). All three are gone from the strip mall, I assume GGPD shut them down because all three were gone at once. I know 4/20 Exchange moved to a temporary secret location nearby, maybe Re-Up will move as well. Immaterial to me really, I stopped going there after using up their 3x FTP deal and haven't had reason to visit again.

....their 3x FTP deal....

3x FTP deal!? That's pretty sweet! Maybe I'll check them out if/when they pop up again  it seems like they always come back eventually..

I used to love New Age Canna back when they were around.. They were legit!

EDIT:
I didn't realize that was going on.. Garden Grove has been known to do that all of a sudden, from time to time.. I remember at least a couple times where there wasn't anything out there for a good while, but eventually spots start popping back up again, until one day they shut it all back down.. I don't really get how it works  I'm just glad the spot I go to is in Westminster :spliff:

I could believe it, the town council is very anti-pot despite being mostly Democrats. I think there is a strong contingent of residents that remain opposed to the dispensaries, there was some talk of lifting the ban a while back but it got shot down.

My buddy in GGPD had said that they mainly hit places when there are resident complaints but I guess this was a coordinated action from the Reddit post. Thanks for the link!

In the early days of medical marijuana, GGPD were very hard core in fighting the law. In one case they seized the medical marijuana of a properly-registered person and refused to return it. (If I recall, the claim was they could not violate federal law.) I think they took the appeal all the way to the U.S. Supreme court after finding no relief with the state's Supreme's.

Interesting, I think it's this case, if anyone else is interested to read it:

I'm glad that it seems times have changed somewhat in regards to individual users at least. My aforementioned GGPD friend did security for the recent High & Mighty Festival, he said in the briefing for it they were specifically told there would be people smoking cannabis and they didn't have to worry about it unless anyone was selling. And people were smoking very close by as we were talking about it. There was even a CBD vendor there (Chronic Candy) and they were fine with him.

I don't blame the cops for these dispensary shutdowns, it is their job to enforce the law of the city as well as the state. The policy of letting the cities decide mj policy leads to a patchwork of laws that are confusing for everyone involved (but was a necessary compromise). Garden Grove should accept that it's 2017 and they'll never completely get rid of the dispensaries, but instead they're keen to keep playing whack a mole. Whatever, their loss on that tax revenue.

Since we've gotten a bit off thread, has anyone been to MedMen OC? Saw their WeHo location on The Profit recently and it looked like an Apple store for cannabis. Their Weedmaps menu and FTP look good, stackable BOGO on flower/edibles/concentrates. Curious how good their flower is. :leaf:

That collective you mentioned looks pretty sweet! especially to take advantage of that FTP deal! I'll have to make my way out there sometime and check it out  pics look good..

It seems like the claims of the Redditors have some support on the closing of the dispensaries:

http://deaguileralaw.com/category/uncategorized/
We are a little slow in sending out these information updates because I am very busy in court. We have about 20 lawsuits now in court against cities and counties regarding their marijuana regulations and harassment of marijuana businesses. We have filed a number of Proposition 64 lawsuits against cities (and counties). These lawsuits allege that the cities have not adopted new regulations for Proposition 64 and that the cities cannot use medical marijuana regulations to prohibit commercial (non-medical) marijuana businesses.

We are seeing a lot of cities using city building and safety and code enforcement to “red tag” marijuana businesses as a way of closing down the marijuana business. We are also seeing cities ordering that the electrical service to the marijuana business be disconnected. We have been authorized by one of my clients to file a lawsuit against the City of Garden Grove for “inverse condemnation” and for violations of the federal civil right statute 42 USC 1983. This will be a landmark case, suing the city for violation of the 5th amendment of the constitution which prohibits the “taking” of property without due process and just compensation. When the city “red tags” a building or causes the electrical service to be disconnected, without good cause, that is a “taking” (condemnation) of the property.

I will keep you informed. If you are having problems with the city building and safety departments refusing to issue permits or “red tagging” the building, I am interested in hearing about that.

I have been to the medmen in WeHo... it was awesome!
It has been two years since I visited, but I would expect they still have some good inventory.
By means of an update, I finally got a chance to try MedMen OC last week. Overall I thought it was a really nice collective with a bomb FTP deal. Their selection of products was expansive; it was really hard to narrow down the flower selections in particular. Luckily you can do up to 4 different eighths for the BOGO deal, and the budtender was knowledgeable and gave good recommendations. I ended up with 7g of Nameless Genetics Mega Wellness OG, 3.5g of Legacy Stains Trainwreck, and 3.5g of Imperial Extracts Strawberry Banana. All three are pretty great, though my favorite is easily the Trainwreck (and I definitely want to try more of Legacy's line now). I also got the BOGO on 1g Kurvana carts and Breez Royal Mints. All told, I got almost $200 of free products! My only gripe with this place is they need to change out the display flower more often, as some of it didn't have much of a smell (not a problem for the stuff I brought home thankfully). Overall, I think it's definitely worth a visit.

I will have to check out MadMen OC since they between my 6 mile drive home from work. Their FTP deal is decent, BOGO on 1g of concentrates is worth checking out. Price is fairly expensive for their brand name meds such as Moxie for $50 a half gram.

If anyone is in OC and wants to stop by a really good place to pick up meds, try First Choice Organics off of 17th in Santa Ana. They are on the second level. Ive been a patient there for 5-6 years already. Very consistent meds, offer rewards points for free shit or credit and carries some really tasty concentrates such as Hash House - Best hash rosin in the west coast! its white or clear! Amazingly clean and strong! You have to ask for it as they dont show it or have it listed on menu but its pricey at $80 a 1/2 g. They also carry Terphogz X Critical Concentrates, Just dabs, WWC and Raw Gardens.

I dont work at this place or have anything to do with them other then spending a whole lot of my income there!

Do all delivery people check recs?
Just the ones who want to stay out of jail.

I'm sure, just like one can find a source by the bowling alley or on a street corner, you can find a delivery service that does not check. But, I suspect they don't stay in business that long in a medical state.

Thanks for the recommendation, I checked them out today. They had the cartridges I'm partial to (Kurvana and ASCND) for a good $10/g cheaper than any of the other places I've been going, plus 10% off daily deal on the cartridges. Good stuff!

First Choice Organic has great prices if you pick up more than one. This is still my go to spot.

But I just went to Medmen OC in Santa Ana for the first time this past weekend and their FTP deal is amazing. The best I have ever seen.

They will match up to 7Grams of flower as well as match 1 gram of any extract and any one edible you buy. This offer ends 2018 so if your in Socal, they have like 3 or 4 stores.

FYI, they do charge tax.
