Discontinued Sublimator XLR

Ok no one is posting here so I probably should because bought one of these. I went with the 3.0 master kit with the perk bubbler.

Love this thing & wish hadn't thought about it for so long but with the price point of the kit it's not a what I'd call a spontaneous purchase.
For reference the plugin vaporizers I own are the Evo, Volcano, Adapt a Kit Sub 2.0. & an Enano.

This is the most I've spent on a vape & I'm glad I went for the whole kit this time. I've used my 2.0 through all sorts of glass & different bases with hydratubes but after using the 3.0 for a couple of weeks I've decided that the launcher base with the thick glass perk is the only way I want to use the sub from now on.
I should add this kit is not necessary to enjoy the Sub, you can buy the Adapt a Kit for half the price & use your own glass like a lot of people do.

The Perk Bubbler is 5mm thick with a one inch diameter mouthpiece which is a great size for me. It can take quite a lot of water but doesn't take much to cover the holes in the perk if you want to use just a little. This is probably the first really decent piece of glass I've bought & this is thicker & better quality than my offical Vapexhale hydrabomb.

The length of the mouthpiece makes me a little nervous when washing it but because of this I don't have to pick up the piece when I'm using it anymore, plus the weight of the base keeps everything stable.

Three hour timer is a improvement, you need to press the controller 3 times to set it for 3 hours, twice for two etc. I usually forget & press it once because that's what I'm used to but 5 min before timing out the controller will buzz with a warning & that's been handy.

The heating element itself is a fraction shorter than my 2.0 & so is the head.
Side by side I haven't see any performance difference.

I went with stainless Dabmaster this time because I have Ti Apollo & wanted to try the heat retention of stainless. I've tried both heads on there & the only difference I've noticed is that my old Ti head maybe has a slightly better flavour. The SS Dabmaster head is a lot heavier than the Ti Apollo but I think holes on the Apollo are much easier to access when you're using it.

The mini XLR connection seems tighter than the 2.0 & the heater has a much lower profile with the new design.
I'll be buying a Ti atomiser when I feel like blowing some more money later on but for now I'm stoked.

The Sub is the only plugin vape I've wanted to use for a while now & it does hit harder & faster than anything I own, buying this kit has completely renewed my interest in vaping.

You know sometimes I feel sorry for all those people who choose not to buy a Sub.

That handle feels like I spent a lot of money @Teedub, but seriously it's got a black shroud in front of the grip on the handle that gets hot to the touch but the grip itself is comfortable enough & doesn't get warm.
The buzzer is great, not too loud but easy to hear if you're in another room.
The stand is the same but has an extra cutout to fit the new heater which sits in the stand quite firmly compared to the old one.
The Apollo & Dabmaster heater both have the monkey engraved or stamped on top but from the look of @SoDelicious pic on the other thread the nail has it on the base of the head.
The mini xlr connection is definitely tight & uses all three pins this time.
Shipping only took about 8 days & every thing was packed professionally.
Hey man, when are you ordering yours :)

Niceee, lots of good little improvements. Good on ya for lashing out! The bubbler looks real nice.

Haha I'd love to get one but my 2.0 is working fine at the mo, and I just blew a heap of cash on some analogue synths and music gear. Definitely on the future upgrade list. I'm just living my experience through you at the moment. :) Thanks!

I finally got my racing stripes. A big thank you to customer service at Sublimator for hooking up this hoodie for a return I had to make. The folks over at sublimator.ca have always treated me right.

The Sublimator is what made combustion completely lose its appeal to me after years of toking from a bong. It seemingly just snuck into my life, led me to this wonderful forum where I contracted VAS -you know the rest of the story..

kCYdJyR.jpg

My new v3.0 Ti + Ti alongside my faithful 3yr old v1.5 SS + Ti.

It had been some time since I experienced true sub extraction since the heating element in my v1.5 lost quite a bit of wattage over years of daily usage. This new 3.0 really put into perspective how much quicker the vapor is extracted compared to any other vape I've used. Perfect extraction in one breath every time. The flavor and effects are very pronounced, as many have mentioned, dab-like.

400F Supreme hits or VapeXhale rips that brink on combustion almost come close (both incredible vapes in their own ways), but neither will blast you in the face like a Sublimator can. This thing is like a drag racer as the inventor Enrico has mentioned.

Notable improvements include general aesthetics, longer cord length, and 3hr timer. It also has a buzz alert right before it turns off.

Only con I really see is it consistently pulls 60W from the wall, whereas my v1.5 was only about 33W.

Now I'm just awaiting Hex-Nail integration. :brow: I'll be subbing and fantasizing until then!

Please don't be jealous @Poostuff, you've reminded me of my ex. Can you say TRIGGERED? lol

The first controller they sent didn't work so I think this was their way of making up for my inability to use my new sub on 4/20. I must say, I was pleasantly surprised to unpack it even though I'll probably only wear it at home since the back is emblazoned with a large rasta monkey with dreads that doesn't really fit my style. I already draw enough attention to myself as my eyes are pretty much perma-blazed.

More cannabinoids, coming right up!

What is the real difference between the TI version and the SS one? I wanna take the adapt-a-bong version and there is a 70€ difference between the 2 models.

Help me understand guys ^_^

i mean, from what i've read here SS version will take more time in heating? What about health (which is the best one for our lungs)? Is vaping from a sublimator healthier than smoking a normal rolled joint?

As always, thank you in advance for your reply

After all I've heard and read the ti is going to temp a little bit quicker. Other differences seem not to be significant.
Vaping from a Sublimator is probably at least less hazardous for health than smoking a joint.

Any chance dirty atomizer off gassing is hazardous?

Ive tried to clean all the gunk/resin, but just cant seem to get it all gone.

The off gassing vapor that is being produced doesn't negatively effect my experience in anyway. Its not harsh and does not add any foul flavor.

Im mainly just curious about possible health hazards after inhaling high amounts.

Just a heads up for anyone looking to buy one from the main site at sublimator.ca
I placed an order for the adapt-a-apollo kit on may 9th and they've still haven't even shipped it out yet. Supposedly they don't have any monkey controllers and they're waiting for them to come in. I've called and emailed a couple times but all they say is that they're expecting the monkey controllers to come in 'early next week', even though if you go to the website they are listed as 'in-stock'.

I get it your frustration fruitcakes same thing happened to me.
They really shouldn't list them as in stock on the website if they're not.
They replied to my emails & were very polite but when you make a big purchase like that all you want it to hear is that it's on its way.

If it's any consolation it'll be totally worth it once it arrives.
Just don't forget to clean any machine oil off before you use it. Kinda the last thing you want to do when you open it but it's important.

Flavourwise you will go better with the D-Nail/CCA. Dabbing with the Sub is pretty effectively and damaging hard hitting but at the expense of flavour. In the flavour way the NewVape Flower Pot seems to be a better all-in-one solution.

Is the easiest/cheapest way to try this the adapt-a-whatever kits $500 if you have your own glass?

Very interested in trying this.

Sub or Sub not. There is no try.

For a brand new one, yes. Use the code MJMANSUB15 and save about $80. I just recently bought through the main site and the only way to pay was through western union which incurs another fee.

You might consider putting up a wanted ad in the classified section on the site here. I've made a lot of good buys and trades with reputable FC members. I dunno who'd wanna part with this vape though. I'm biased, I must admit. This was the vape that made me give up my daily habit of toking from a bong about 4 years ago.

Be careful buying second hand as the control units seem to have a limited life span.

Having said that if you can pick one up for next to nothing go for it.

Does the sublimator nail compare to the DNAIL/CCA enails?
No. It is really not at all comparable. Nobody should be dabbing on titanium/SS in this day and age. The sublimator costs a hell of a lot more money than the highest end e-nails and all of the current CCA/D-nail nails in quartz/SiC/Sapphire are going to provide unimaginably better flavor. The biggest problem with the sub is that the gunk in the atomizer makes every dab quickly taste like reclaim if you've not cleaned the thing like a gun.

Subs are great for massive flower rips. IMO for dabs, look elsewhere. I abandoned my Sub xlr 2.0 because I went over to predominately dabbing and the sub gave plenty of clouds, but the flavor just didn't do justice to the quality of extracts I was using.

You are correct that the flavor is definitely in different categories.

But i do have to say the sublimator sure does have a hard hitting signature.

Does anyone know how to determine if an atomizer is stainless steel or titanium? Im sure their weights are different but i don't have one of each material to figure that type of information out.

That hard hitting signature is not in excess of the size of rip that one can achieve with a SiC enail man, also the amount of draw restriction (not to mention how disgusting reclaim in a Sub atomizer can get and how that influences the taste of subsequent dabs) that the Sub causes to get those clouds is unjustifiable IME. I would never want to be dabbing off a Sub, I'd sooner use some flower vapes with concentrate pads! IMO, the Sub has a niche for people who want the biggest flower rips possible and don't care about anything else. For dabbers, look elsewhere IMO.

In order to compare titanium and stainless steel, you need to be able to determine the specific gravity of the metal piece in question. Google that one if you like. A jeweler may have the requisite hardware to verify that an item is titanium or not.

Just to add, a magnet can "help" determine if the ss is cheap and iron heavy. My Ti sub has no magnetic attraction and neither does the atomizer or even the stand. My moon tool has a slight magnetic attraction.

So in short its all good ti and ss with the moon tool being cheaper metal. The only thing I could think of to determine whether the atty is ti or ss is to torch the atomizer and see if it gives the tell tale ti colour change?

I've always presumed all the attys are ss but I have read ppl claiming that they are ti like the heater - if ti was chosen. Mine has never changed colour like ti but it has some discoloration that sure looks like ss.

The new heads & atomisers all have SS & Ti stamped onto them so there's no issue with recognising those.
I'm not sure but I don't think they've made a Ti atomiser until recently, I still have to buy one to check it out but I imagine the top half of the Ti atomiser would colour up whereas stainless just turns a slightly yellow colour.
I have both stainless & Ti heating elements but I don't notice a lot of difference.
I'm not a big dabber but I agree with the @herbivore21 comment that sublimate can be pretty gross, it's like extremely strong reclaim & I do have to clean the atomiser once a week or the taste suffers & the draw can become restricted.
However this happens with all my other vapes as reclaim will build up, it is yucky & does need to be cleaned or it will affect performance & taste.

The Sub is my daily driver & performs fantastically with whatever I put in it.
I have no need for more vaporisers which is a great feeling but it's always nice to browse the sales because different vape signatures are fun.
I love the fact that I don't have to suck down a heap of hot air just to get the vapour flowing, we shouldn't really have to do that now.
The Sub milks up any tube instantly with incredibly thick vapour & that's why I use it.
I also like the fact that there are other Sub styled vapes available now as I think it's a great concept, but until I find something that performs better than it I'll probably just keep raving about it.
Oh yeah I also have to thank @Teedub for his suggestion a while back of using denim for unscrewing hot atomisers & heating elements. Awesome suggestion mate this has saved me so much time & I have dedicated an old pair of jeans for this, thanks man.

What do you mean with "performs better"? More and denser vape? Probably not. Better taste - for sure.
So it depends on what you are looking for and what you want to vape.
I know the Sub and intended to buy one. Was very impressed by it's performance but it's harshness made my sensitive bronchias always cough.

I'm using flowers the most. Therefore I decided to buy a Herborizer Ti. Tiny, nice designed setup, awesome vape profile, so smooth and tasty, much more better than the Sub in this way and nearly no maintenance. Concentrates are possible but not really worth to use with the Herborizer Ti if you aren't a titanium afficionado.

May be the Glass Symphony is the best desk top vaporizer for flowers only regarding vapor + taste. But it's all glass and breakable and this thing is damned huge and probably not the best choice for concentrates too.

For flowers AND concentrates the New Vape Flower Pot seems actually to be the best choice. It's the best avporizer for doubledeckers too by constrcution. But it's probably worth to wait a few months bc there are a lot of new improvements in the pipeline. Hope all improvements will happen until BF sale ;)
