Done all you mentioned above - still that text "Protected" after 15 sec and you can't even set temperature after that. Only shutdown works.

If putting in one of the batteries you mentioned that was fully charged externally didn't trip the Protected Mode it's time for a repair.

I don't know who you got the unit from but as @stickstones said ... if you didn't purchase from the manufacturer you might have better luck working with the retailer. I would attempt contact using an internet real time chat or phone call and if that's not possible try an email.

Tbh I have no idea why the clamour for photos of venting when I'd already posted one from the manufacturer earlier, and it's basically just a tiny hole?
But here you go anyway.
@Jill NYC - I'm sorry to hear you aren't enjoying it. After continuous use of the unit (about ten 5-minute sessions a day, I would estimate), I have come up with some tricks to offset my own grievances (and some of yours too, perhaps?). I honestly don't hear any whistling sound while drawing myself. However, with regards the wispy vapour (not a problem I have at all, but I'm a cloudchaser and always looking for bigger rips), try using this technique I learned while browsing VapCap videos: change the dial to one or two airholes, and tap them closed for a couple of seconds while pulling at 5 second intervals. You'll have thicker vapour.
After such extensive use, I have still had no problem with cleaning the device or the airflow getting clogged (it disassembles very quickly after a couple of uses just pull it out, blow on the components, re-insert. Give it an ISO wash every week). I never use whole bud because vapour tends to get super thin, so I don't now that I can comment on that.
My own personal issue is the battery life - maybe it's because my use is so constant, but I'm ALWAYS charging the vape during the day. A full battery gives me only about four or five proper 5-minute sessions, which is nowhere near enough to make it an out-and-about heavy use portable unless you have access to charging all the time. It's for this reason that I've set my eyes on the VapCap M now. But otherwise, I'm really happy with this unit. I've been recommended not to use the passthrough (which is a bummer) because it further reduces battery life and these batteries are expensive in India.
@s0n1c - have you tried reaching out to max@focus-vape.com? Please do, and ask him for his Whatsapp number in case the back and forth is taking too long (that's what I did, and it was such a relief to be able to have that access).
I broke my bubbler and one glass mouthpiece already (of course :disgust:) and never even got to test the bubbler properly. Still, I'm super happy with my purchase and have to stress this is far ahead of the e-nano and has even overtaken the MFLB in my book.

Well.. 20 days later the new unit has the same problem with the "Protected mode" without any issue before that.

That's ridiculous; too bad, man. Better get your money back, two defective units is definitely a no-no. Mine still works like a charm, although I did need to use a keyboard vacuum cleaner to unclog the bottom of the chamber once.

Never experienced this "protected mode" myself... how did you use your Focus in term of t° and sessions lenght (and back to back)?

I ever prefered the original Focus to the Pro. I sold the Pro a long time ago and use mainly the original to share with friends some milky hits (it produces thick and tasty clouds at 180°C!). And you can't get this sort of message also!

I'm sorry sonic.... Must be frustrating as hell. I still use both the OG and Pro and never experienced anything like that. With hurricane Irma getting ready to turn my power off I'm glad I have them both along with a stash of 18650's.

Hello there community!

I got response from supplier.
Both devices had scratches in chamber.
That protected mode is kind of bug or future whether PCB is checking the chamber for micro scratches.
So don't use sharp things when cleaning the chamber.
They will disable that function in new batch.

Nice! Thanks for the follow-up! You gotta love FC and it's members when it comes to this kind of sharing.

Meanwhile I adapted my backup device Xmax V2 Pro, to use the water bubbler of Focus via mode with cuting silicone cap.
It perform even better than Focus itself! xD .
p.s. I`ll share pictures later on.

It's time for me to replace the batteries for my beloved Focus Pro, I checked Puffitup.com and they didn't have any. I was going to order off of ebay but not sure how particular the batteries are. Are any 18650 3200mah batteries going to work? Is there anything I should look out for? Best place to buy them?

Most 18650's at 3200mah will work. Others will work as well. For example...Samsung 18650 25Rs will also work.

I'd go with Amazon. That's where I've been getting mine. When purchasing from Amazon line up the Amazon spec with the battery that came with your unit. Once you find a match .... search the Amazon reviews for "counterfeit". If there are enough references to counterfeit to make you uneasy find another battery that matches on Amazon.

EDIT - @kbrown5523 - Should also have mentioned....stay with the name brands like Samsung, LG, Panasonic...

You should save yourself a good bit of money this way.

I see that the new version is now availible in most stores, thats good ! Not entirely happy with just one hole though. If someone got the new version maybe he can test the tube is still airtight in the direction of the positve/electronics, thx.

You will need uprotected high drain batteries, would recommend some that are capable of 15A current atleast. Brands LG, samsung, sony etc. , also go for flattops:

It looks like a new version of the Pro is avalaible, it's called the "S":

https://lacentralevapeur.com/vapori...vaporisateur-portable-vape-pen-focusvape.html

Higher max t°, updated electronic (?), venting hole in the battery compartment, improved heating system (more stable t° and more even heat for best abv), 1mm shorter, brushed aluminium body.

I tried to ask for one but since I don't get a lot of time now and since my vas seems cured I spent less time here... so I don't know if I will make anymore reviews but i bet there will be a lot of vaporists to do it.

Just for info the Focus is one vape I wouldn't let to go, it's far to be the best but it does the job very well!

I saw it on Puffitup.com, they had some really great deals on the old ones, I'm guessing to close them out. I really want to get the new Pro S model. I love everything about my Focus Pro, except the amount of herb I burn through with it.

If I could combine the instant heat, click on and off-ability of the grasshopper, with the form and durability and battery life of the focus Pro S, it would be my "perfect" hybrid vape.

It's a very reliable vape. I don't think it's a weed hog but a GH will offer you lot of hits even with a pinch where the Focus will need a full bowl (2-3 pinches) to work well.
That's true, the GH does take less herb.

But, with the GH I click it off as soon as I start getting vape, so it stops cooking the herb after each hit. With the Focus, I get it up to my heat temp and feel I need to take a few hits while it's there or it's just going to waste the herb. Even if I could easily switch it off between hits, it will keep cooking the herb while it cools back down. With the GH I can literally start taking a hit and switch it off mid-hit and finish the hit also cooling back down the herb chamber as I'm finishing it off. I go through A LOT less herb with the GH. I take a hit on the GH, wait minutes or hours and come back and take another hit and not really waste any of it.

But, that said, I still use my Focus on the daily when I want to take a few hits and get super ripped, usually an hour or so before bedtime. For that I love it even more than my Grasshoppers and it's definitely way more reliable.

The new "S" version of the Focus Pro reached my home, thanks to @LaCentraleVapeur.com to send me one for a review here for our FC friends!

I have some first impressions for now, my review will come later after a week of use (or more).

The aluminium brushed finish is amazing and sleek, the bottom battery cap (with a hole in case of battery venting) is different and looks better (sits better on it's own on a table).

The airflow adjustable ring is better made and secure. Looks better for me too.

Wider temperature range is a good plus also.

Just vaped a few bowls after an initial burn-off which was free of any off-gassing or bad smell. Taste was nice and not polluted at all. Seems to produce denser clouds with tight load and this is right for a conduction vaporizer.

As a first impression I can say i like a lot the new design and performances seems to be on pair with the previous version. I was not impressed by the Adventurer and the Tourist didn't caught my interest since it is only a Focus Pro with interchangeable heads for herbs or for wax. The "S" version seems to continue to improve the Focus vape pen as one of the best choice to begin in dry herb vaporisation.

@PPN The Focus Pro Vaporizer is <$90 right now. Is the Pro still worth picking up or would we be much happier spending the extra money on a brand new S?

If someone asked me the same about the Arizer Solo 1 vs 2 I would tell you the cost savings are not worth it. Digital display, better air flow, incredible battery, smaller size, etc.. You're going to be a lot happier with the Solo 2. Doesn't sound like the changes are nearly as drastic however.

My focus lies in a draw gathering dust. It worked well but the bottom battery lid didn't fit well and if I screwed it to far the battery wouldn't engage. And i didn't like how the mp got hot halfway through a bowl. I find the CF Vape better in all departments for a similar price.

It depends your usage and the money you are ready to spend. The "S" get a wider t° range which is nice if you like to vape some concentrates. But, all in all, it's pretty the same vaporizer, safer (cause the vented battery cap) and better looking design.

Although I'm a bit disappointed by the abv color & extraction I get with this unit, I must to use a lot higher t° than usual to get my abv where i like to be (brown/dark brown). With most portables vapes I start at 390/395 for 4/5 mn and jump at 410/415 for another cycle and abv comes out pretty spent. With the focus Pro S (as well the previous version) I start at 410/415 and must to increase until 430 to get the abv where I like.... not a really bad thing since i can get my abv fully extracted too (thanks to the wide T° range)!
... and the heater doesn't seems able to maintain the t° when I draw for a long time and need a long time to get back at temp to produce large clouds. The original Focus I still own is a lot better to produce clouds (big clouds at 360!) and to milk a water pipe, imho...

This impressions are not finals, I vaped around 15 bowls using mainly medium/coarse grind and not very tight load. Maybe I will change my mind after more bowls and different setups.

More to come!

My Hoppers have been in RMA for over a month so I've been using my Focus Pro hard and it's getting plugged. I've had this happen before and Puffitup replaced it once for me already. I can't imagine they'll do it again and I've tried everything I can think of to unplug it. Two of the three holes are completely plugged and the last one is getting there fast. Anyone know of any tricks to clear the air path?

I've taken the screen off and tried unplugging the holes and with a pick, I've also tried canned air and that didn't help at all. All along I've been trying to run burn offs between loads.

I really, really want a plug in unit that can take my heavy use without going through so many batteries and without plugging up. I just can't afford one right now.

how do you manage to plug those holes?
I've been using it alot without these issues? is your material maybe to grind up (very small particles)?
anyway I'm using those metal inserts with focus so maybe that's why mine is so clean always.
give it a try.
