I take a standard screen and trim it to just slightly over size then press it in using the round bit of the poker tool. If I've done it right it locks in to the rim of the capsule. The one in the 2nd post is same idea but has a slit cut in the screen from one edge to the centre (pac man style) and pulled together and pushed in. With different amounts of liquid pad wire in the bottom I can make capsules of any size. Once I have made them they stay together permanently. Get iso soaked as they are. Some of them must be 6 months old and still in circulation. I only ever load direct in the mighty and crafty chamber when I'm in a group.

DEFINITELY trying this! Thanks

Vapes R Great
@biohacker i love my Plenty, I use it exclusively with the caps at full heat. And you know I'm coming from the Mighty as a DD first. It is so damn smooth even compared to the Mighty. Cleaner too, you won't get the cooling unit taste you always go on about haha.
Once you get is set up in a little tray with brush as a kickstand it's all gravy.
Stick the coil in the freezer for extra fun.
I just wish they would add a supercharged heater so it could heat up faster like under a minute. (Hopefully revision soon) also maybe make the handle more ergonomic.
I don't find it overkill as it has a smoother and cleaner overall vapor profile to the S&B portables. Also for groups you can just pack the reg chamber full and its party mode activated haha!
Also having a SILENT vape is awesome sometimes

Thanks for that man! Nice for your feedback and comparison to the portables. I do remember getting massive clouds from the Plenty, and also using it on 7 pretty much exclusively, sometimes starting at 6 or 6.5, and the vapour was thick and blue.

The cooling unit taste? Huh? I think after a couple of uses the CU's stink when you open them, and maybe effect flavour, but after the plastic taste/smell on a brand new one I don't think i've ever said it had a taste? Maybe you're confusing me with the Solo's smelling/tasting like solder or robot fart when being broken in?

@ktmstick Awesome! Had some 1/2" screens I was trying to diy dome for my Solo stems. They would not stay in the Solo, but fit and stay in the capsules. You have no problems when packed that full? I've been doing that amount, .15 in my capsules without a screen taking up half the area. I've done a .20+ capsule and recall it having draw resistance and not browning all the way through, not unlike @Friend Man issue when he first starting the capsules. But, I was doing several different grinds at the time and that could have been a course ground tight pack capful. Will revisit with screens in place, fine grind, tight pack.

@whatitdew Thanks for that info too! Keeps the Mighty VAS at bay for awhile longer.

Hi, new here so please be gentle. With the dosing caps try nipplelizing the lid with the blunt end of a pen or brush. This will (a) allow for a bigger charge (b) cause the cap to contact the upper screen and so prevent any movement. Do not nipplelize the bottom of the dosing capsule as the capsule is tapered to fit the reducer and raising the capsule will allow air flow around it. You could nipplelize the lower screen, though, to accommodate.

Good post.

I run without a bottom screen when using capsules. It allows the capsule to seat better at the bottom of the reducing chamber.

Anyone running the Plenty through a bong?
I've used mine through it, take the black mouth piece off the coil or the coil off the chamber and the silicone seats on a 14 mm. I do prefer my Plenty time, sans water.

I think he is nipping the top of the capsule to go upwards to the screen, and not the usual screen nippling towards the capsule.

Having trouble comprehending this.
Did you remove the small screen built into the reducing chamber?

What I would love for the Plenty is a mouthpiece that seals automatically when not in use, like the mouthpiece on an inflatable. It's not convenient resting it against my cheek or lip between pulls, and it stops me from just putting it down and chilling with a cap, I feel like I have to cane through it all unless I waste any vapour. It POURS out the mouthpiece right now!

Is there anything like this available? How do you guys deal with it?

Question - if I purchase the Plenty again for exclusive capsule use with the reducer, will I be able to get satisfying clouds? From the post above, it seems like complete convection extraction, but since the Plenty only goes up to 202c (why so low?), will it be as good as 210c on the Mighty? Will I need to use temp 7 exclusively like in the past?

I just got my Plenty this week, and I can confirm that it reaches past 202C - it shares the same temp range as the Crafty/Mighty now (max 210/215), which wasn't the case previously with the older units.

Waiting for my reducer, but as a long-time owner of the Crafty/Mighty I'm fully satisfied with how the Plenty medicates natively. I was using the S&B portables exclusively with water filtration - the Plenty provides the same experience with much more bigger clouds and with no worries to battery life.

Also been using the Firefly 2's liquid pad on the dosing caps to microdose, it effectively reduces the capacity to 2/3s - around 10 full draws compared to an unpadded 15. (Draws dependent on lung capacity). Might grab actual S&B liquid pads for the caps later on, but the two included with the FF2 is enough for the meantime.

I can now stop worrying about breaking more glass. Thanks S&B.

Yes, press it out with wooden end of brush.
I think for me, the negatives would outweigh the positives on that one.
First, the reduced chamber is no longer a reduced chamber, more of a capsule holder in place piece. I rarely use it as a reduced chamber, but it's there if I want to.
Secondly, I like to remove the whole chamber coil unit, capsule and all from the heat now and then to gather my thoughts. Put it back on afterwards and carry on.
I do like your pics of the screen in the capsule for smaller loads move and the suggestion of a micro dose under the pad in the capsule for concentrate.
But what some of your pics really inspired, seeing how much you were "ramming" into the smaller loads, was the loading of MORE into a capsule. Loading .2+ and using only one long lasting cap instead of 2 filled with .15ish. Thanks.

I iso'd my first stem and a bunch of screens and pads, and now it's all been extracted I've got a delicious dark amber pool of gunk waiting for me :p :ko:. I'll probably drink some but I also want to try vaping some. Last time I got some reclaim from the Plenty 'funnel', I smeared a little of it on the liquid pad and it worked fine, but left a bunch of little burned bits on the pad that were hard to get off.

The question is, am I even using it correctly? I'm not sure how a liquid pad is even used with reclaim. Anyone have any experience or tips? Cheers

Hi @Douglas Brown , Great review!

You asked about that picture above. The hands free setup.
Sturdy wrought iron coffee mug tree
3/8 in ID 1/2 in OD silicone tubing.
Fabric tube cover.
Silicone straws.

Nice hookah like relaxing experience.

But, when using Plenty handheld with silicone bent tip straws, it's very easy to hold vertical.
Twist straw so it points about eight o'clock, then hold Plenty rib high.
Your elbow makes a comfy angle like holding a drink at a party.
Can look straight ahead while drawing, no more bong-like stooping.
Improved ergonomics were a surprise bonus for me.
(was just trying to avoid drooling while keeping Plenty vertical)

This may help flushing iso or PBW residue from inside of steel coil:
Sink faucet spray adapter.

Cut, attached to coil with silicone tubing.
Makes good seal on my faucet. No more spray in face.
It's so light that it hangs from faucet.
Don't need tongs.
Like your idea of coffee filter in a strainer to catch any residue.

I've tried silicone stopper plugs in past to conserve.
But when I tried bathing coil in hot water, expansion forced plugs out.
I like hot iso. Learned advantage of heat while cleaning Crafty CU.

Got standard pint mason jar at Michaels.
Withstands heat, lid allows expanding gas to escape.
Mason jar fits inside 1 quart pyrex measuring cup.
Pour hot water in measuring cup - makes a nice hot bath.
(when cooling, burp lid to avoid vacuum seal)

Cool how the light refraction distorts the mason jar and coil.
Don't stare at it too long. Strange visualizations ensue.

Hello to all!

I found this forum a week or so ago. I've been scouring this thread. I wish I would have known a few years ago when I bought my plenty! Better late than never though.

My main question as of now is cleaning. Most directly the black upper filling chamber part. I see from @ChooChooCharlie (post quoted above) that a hot iso soak is choice. I use 99% iso. When I try to use it to clean the black filling chamber part it starts to warp. I tried using a flexible pipe-cleaner to get in the ridge that holds the screen, but that doesn't do a great job. I am so jealous at your ease of cleaning ChooChooCharlie! Can someone help me figure out where I'm going wrong? I tried putting iso on the chamber, and then scrubbing a bit, then rinsing soon after in case that helps it not warp. Unfortunately that didn't work either.

So to reiterate. I tried to soak the chamber in iso -- which did very little -- and then I tried putting iso on, using a pipe-cleaner and then rinsing (and maybe repeat a few times to try and get it clean).

If I may also ask, do y'all accumulate a lot of resign at the end of the tube that fits the coil into the black filling chamber? I find it's a sticky mess. Also the filling chamber itself gets this like light brown flakey/sticky substance which looks different than the resign I get on the tube. Is that similar to what you folks get? Do y'all also get that substance in the ridge where the screen is inserted?

I've been vaping at a 4, sometimes up to 5, because I was worried about combustion. Yet I see here y'all are doing 6 and 7. I preheat at 6 last night, and then vaped on 5 - 5.5. So far, so good.

I am a solo vaper, so I am learning on my own. So glad to find this forum!

Friction is needed.
I use 91% Iso, and a type of item similar to a q-tip;
@ChooChooCharlie introduced me to them. They are called Nail Tees I believe. I soak the Nail Tee in Iso, then submerge and scrub the walls until they are clean.
He mentions them at http://fuckcombustion.com/threads/the-mighty-by-storz-bickel.16000/page-396#post-1116272

Thanks for getting back to me Vitolo. I will look up the nail trees. Sounds like a good start. How about on the tubing connecting filling chamber to coil? I've read that using iso on those is not really a good idea because of porosity. Maybe I should have the coil poking out of the tube a bit?

Iso is safe to use on the coil and on the tube, and the tube can be removed easily.
After Iso, I use dish soap and water, than a water rinse on any tubing I use ... silicone also.
I dry them after in front of the nozzle of a shop-vac
(hold on tight, or you will lose it).
I have a dedicated vape piece shop-vac!

Welcome @fatfemmestoner
Better late then never indeed.
Can't help with the cleaning stuff, so far just the S&B brush and go for me so far.
Definitely no fear of combustion with the Plenty though. I've been running my dosing capsules at 7 and nothing but consistent, toasty abv.
And I must say, the fist hit of the second capsule when reloaded right before the light goes off again is devastation in a yank. :whoa:.
Think I have to thank @ChooChooCharlie for that tidbit.

@fatfemmestoner - Welcome to FC! You quoted an old post of mine, so you obviously have been reading this thread. Good on you -- many don't make the effort. Please ignore my old posts with my crazy metal and wooden washers/basket screens. That was my attempt at small loads before the reducer/capsule system was introduced. I use the capsules exclusively now.

Always a good idea listening to @Vitolo . He's been vaping longer than many folks have been combusting.

There are "precision" q-tips widely available, but the Fran Wilson brand of "nail tees" do not fray when pushing the tip in around that screen holding channel. I also use them to swab resin from Mighty CU inlet after capsule sessions, and around rim of grasshopper chamber.

Funny he mentioned a vacuum to dry -- if you want to frighten pets and loved ones, put that faucet adapter/cooling coil in my picture onto end of vacuum hose and cover your ears. Along with the whistle sound, the coil gets really cold as moisture evaporates. Makes a good demonstration of the cooling power of a helix shaped coil. The black housing and screen can just be wiped and left to air dry without any vacuum assist.

Surprised you felt the upper black housing started to warp after the iso soak. If you look at my pic you quoted, the housing is swimming with the coil in the mason jar. Mine comes out clean after 10 minutes in hot iso. Never had warping.

A plastic ziplock bag is something you might try. Once per week or two, put black housing and its removed screen in with iso. Then place bag in a bowl of very hot water. (Never heat the iso directly - too dangerous). After 5 minutes, grab bag out with both hands, then slosh the bag left and right vigorously. Careful, it's hot. Return to bath and repeat. Sloshing works well.

About the silicone at end of coil -- if you align it flush with end of coil, after twisting coil into black housing, it will move up a couple mm's on its own, so vapor encounters the coil primarily. Yes, it does get discolored and sticky. But I don't bother cleaning it with iso. Replace it every 3-9 months, whenever you feel motivated to clean the coil.

About cleaning the metal herb chamber rim -- before you exert any downward cleaning pressure, remove the metal chamber from the orange plastic by pushing up from under. Not down. I have broken tabs from that orange housing by scrubbing and pushing down. Don't make my mistake. The instructions show the disassembly direction clearly, but I have issues with authority and instructions. Magic eraser works well to get off the baked on grime, just rinse it well after.

You mentioned avoiding combustion. No fear of combustion with Storz-Bickel vapes. I'm not aware of any posts here citing combustion. At level 7 on Plenty, your clouds will be thicker, but you may miss out on some flavor if you have tasty herb. Fewer draws too.

S&B share our feelings about Fucking Combustion: "Scheiss Rauchen!"

Apologies for this rambling wall of text.

Missed your question before, @Friend Man

Back on page 45, picture of a few different tips resting on an old Japanese erotic drawing. On right is a Camelbak bite tip. I cut the rigid Camelbak straw, attached to silicone, silicone attached to coil.

Messy with saliva, but keeps vapor contained.

Great idea, thanks! As ever I've got a few follow questions if you wouldn't mind:

1.Will any bite valve do? This one seems pretty 'on brand':

https://kathmandu.imgix.net/catalog/product/6/1/61290_bitevalve_005.png

2. Are there any issues in regards to taste?

3. Is it worth it? Do you find you use it often?

4. Any chance I could see a pic of it attached, if you still have it/can be bothered?

Thanks as ever! You guys steered me right on the caps, since I got them I've only used the Plenty without them once out of curiosity, then I went straight back to cappin'

Quoting myself:

The issue I had here was that an uneven distribution of the sticky stuff was leaving little brown mouse turds in the liquid pad that were hard to get out without harming the pad. I used a needle tip to take advantage of the stickiness and 'thread' it over the surface of the pad, but it took a long time.

What I did in the end was put some of the gunk in a glass and heated it high over a flame hob for a minute or so until it became a bit more semi-fluid, then just lightly pressed the liquid pad into it , and put it right side up in the chamber. It tastes delicious, like a lightly-smokey dewy-sweet taste, with a long lasting hashy aftertaste on the throat. It has a nice instant buzzy effect, with some palpable body relaxation to it too. But it takes so much effort getting it to a usable state that I'll probably stick with mixing it into milk in future.

@Friend Man :

On page 37, there are some videos of cleaning the liquid pad. Your reclaim may have contained herb bits, leading to the turds you described.

On page 47, pic of my reclaim efforts. I made mistake of not filtering out the herb bits. You can see them in right side of that Pyrex pie plate. I scraped from the center to avoid bits. Had left that pie plate in basement for a couple weeks, and it was still tacky, but I got impatient. It vaped well, but tasted of iso, blecchh. Never reclaimed again.

Saw your bite valve pic. Only concern with that one is the small size of the "straw" going in. I had gone to camping/sports section of a store, got the largest size Camelbak, which came pre-attached to a rigid large straw. My silicone tubing has 3/8 inch inner diameter, and it snugged onto the straw well. I cut the straw short, leaving enough to snug on silicone tubing.

As for taste difference, I didn't notice. The vapor is pretty cool by the time it passes the bite valve.

Used it for a couple days, then threw it out because I didn't like the saliva clinging to it, nor the physical sensation of biting down. The escaping vapor did not bother me enough to continue, but thought you may want to try it for yourself.

The Mighty also leaks vapor. In both cases, it is just the residual vapor left in the cooling coil or cooling unit. It leaks due to natural convection as warm vapor rises. Looks worse than it is. S&B sell silicone bite valves custom sized for the Mighty, but not for Plenty. Advertised as one time use for hygienic reasons.

If you don't mind resting the Plenty sideways on its three rubber feet during breaks, that natural convection effect is mitigated fairly well, less vapor escapes.

Glad you're having fun experimenting. Been separated from my vapes and stash because I was too paranoid bringing them on flight. The eclipse tomorrow here in Nashville would be more fun with herb. Tequila will have to suffice.

Vapor Dreams
Hello I have my Plenty since almost a year and it kicks ass but i havent been successfull with the capsules. They produce very litttle vapor and air seems to escape from the pod. I have much better results with the normal chamber putting the material in a bed of abv but i suppose that there is something i dont do well.
