Multi-brand X MAX STARRY

One thing I've noticed about the Starry is the parasitic power draw. Maybe this is common to weed vaporizers but if my Starry sits for 10 days or so unused, the battery is low enough to need charging. Depending on the battery, it'll be somewhere in the 3.5 to 3.7 v. area. Easy enough to plug it in once a week since I now know that or just remove the battery if I'm not using the unit regularly.

All devices with "soft power" buttons have some quiescent current draw. But 10 days sounds way too fast to discharge a battery.

My old vapes have been gathering dust for months if not a full year for some, and I check them from time to time and none has discharged fully so far (they were stored at 3/4 charge)

I would try to contact the manufacturer and tell them about the issue.

Well , just picked one of these up from #vapefiend .. wow, really impressed.. did a small load first, yep wispy vape, clean at 200, didn't think much was happening, and was quite disappointed to be honest, whilst walking the dog, then bang I'm just so wasted lol. Tried the resin capsule, with some blonde at 240, such clean vapor, no cough for once, really nice ;) . Didn't get chance to try a full bowl, I'm assuming this has potential to develop a lot more vapour when full? I'm using a volcano grinder, what is the best grind for this, fine , medium? Pack tight or loose? Still looking at a used IQ, or am I wasting my time?

I found that a regular/Medium grind is best. I tried a fine grind, similar to what I would use in my MFLB and it wasn't a benefit. I also don't pack tight but I do tamp down lightly.

Thanks, well I did use a volcano grinder, ehich I'm now assuming is too course? I've just ordered a slx grinder, which in theory will be the perfect grind , if I use it upside down for a few twists? My bowl was half empty, it looks like not having a full bowl, has a massive effect on vapour production? I'm curious on your temperature findings, I love ❤️ this vape, this best I've owned for some time.. roll on the weekend!

@mrfunk - I fill the bowl with a light tamp down about 3/4 full and place a screen on top of the bowl to keep the contact with the mouth piece filter to a minimum because it's too easy to clog if the filter touches the weed. My two favorite temps are 390F and 410F. I start with 390 and temp step up to 410 when 390 stops producing visible vapor.

I have used just a half filled bowl with the previously described temps and gotten good vapor production but I find the 3/4 fill to be my sweet spot. Evenly colored ABV and no stirring required.

Does anyone know of any US retailers that are carrying the replacement mouthpieces for the Starry? I still don't see them available at PIU or PotV. Thanks!

When you do find one, make sure to ask if it is one from the first batch or after they resized the oven, and know whether or not yours is a first run or later. When they resized the ovens the gaskets had to change, so the new gaskets are too big for the first run ovens.

Volute of Vapor
Vapefiend sent me a Spirit vaporizer which is a redesigned/ rebranded Starry.

Previously I tested the Starry V1 and liked the design but not so much vaping performances (they was decent but the taste was not the greater).

This is only my initial feedback, my final review with pictures will come later since I'm very busy actually.

The mains differences are:
- Battery (a samsung 29E, v1 got a samsung 26J M).... @KeroZen ?
- bigger bowl (easier for packing)
- easier battery lid
- stainless steel concentrates pads x2 (still not tested them yet... will do it soon)

Maybe there is something else i missed... taste seems slightly improved also!

Does anyone know for sure if the Storm Spirit is based off the original v1.0 version of the Starry or the v1.1?

I am really thinking about ordering some mouthpieces from the UK.

Have had the Starry X-Maxx for two weeks now. First the good news: size, excellent hand feel, 18650 replaceable batt., zirconia mouthpiece. Now the bad news: Uncomfortably hot vapor IMHO, oven too small, screens seem proprietary, screen could be a tad bigger. Still nothing providing cool vapor like my Mighty.

Hello,
I would like to ask what you mean by "resin capsule".
Here, my seller would deliver a "wax capsule". Is it the one you mean?
I would much prefer a resin device.
BTW, anyone has experiences with hashish in this capsules?
Thank you very much in advance!

I thought I would share an example of where my PotV Starry fits in my vape collection....

I'm heading to Vegas sometime in September and they just legalized recreational use. The problem is....even though it's legal you can't use cannabis except in a "private residence or a establishment that explicitly allows use". Since hotels are generally smoke free there don't seem to be any mainstream hotels that are 420 friendly...yet.

I'll probably buy a standard pre-filled 510 cartridge in Vegas to use with my cheap e-cig/vape pen for out on the strip but I prefer flowers so .....whenever the opportunity presents itself I'll be breaking out the Starry because:
- It's so small (definitely pocket/pocketbook friendly so it'll be there if the opportunity presents itself and I can palm it)
- It's so fast to temp (Will be able to git-er-done quickly).
- It hits like a freight train at 390F and above.
- Battery life is good but one charged in the chamber and another in reserve and I'm good for well over a 24 hour period.

In the hotel I'll just exhale into something like a towel/wash cloth with a slight bit of fragrance spritzed on. Gotta love the Starry for it's small form factor and performance in these cases!

While I've heard that they're pretty strict on weed use by hotel staff (and you can probably argue that'd encourage more reporting), I've had no problems with vaping in the Signature, MGM Grand or the Wynn. I've been to all of them for either work (conference) or on vacation with the wife. I used the Arizer Solo (long battery, looks like bath stuff in travel, easy to keep spotless clean) for two of the trips, the third was a new MFLB that I got for $60. Ended up giving it to someone there because the wood held the smell pretty good and I didn't want to fly with it.

I wouldn't vape in the morning before housekeeping, nor would I open the door for a good hour after I vaped. The smell dissipates and doesn't really stick to anything in my experience. A little bit of air freshener (or a stinky fart, I guess) would easily be enough to cover it after 5min. Unless you get an asshole, staff usually looks the other way at least in the popular hotels. They'll get onto you if you're obvious or bugging someone else but you're revenue to them and they have room quotas to meet. Attitude has changed a lot in the past 10 years though I do remember it being stricter in the early '00s. I wouldn't try a joint though, I've heard of them charging the $250/$500 smoking fee. Hotels don't make a regular habit of calling the police on their guests unless they have to though. It's just bad for business all around. You can usually find other stoner experiences by googling "smoking weed <hotel name>" and you'd be surprised at how ignored it is.

One thing I'd add though, Vegas is the only place where I had a hell of a time scoring weed through the hotel staff. Hawaii, Florida, New York, hell even Georgia I've been able to score through the hotel staff. Vegas was always a straight up "NO."

Edit: few more things; YMMV, my experience was before weed was legal there. Also, Enjoy your trip man! The Starry should be perfect for you.

Just got my starry! Doing some burn offs.
Still a lot of nasty flavor which is extremely disappointing but letts keep doing some burn offs and breaks to see how it works

Also how do I change to the 10m timer and from F to C

FYI - spare mouthpieces are in stock at puffitup!

Pretty much looks and sounds like a PAX, only with the digital readout.

You forgot the dumb ass proprietary magnetic charger

Also how do I change to the 10m timer and from F to C

5min to 10min -- power and + together for 2 seconds
C to F -- power and - together for 2 seconds

I've got an OG Starry and two PotV versions....never had a smell or taste issue with any of them. I did do one burn-off at max temp and max time for each because it's my standard before first use of any vape. I do this to check the vape under it's most extreme condition and also to check initial taste and smell. I had no issues with it other than the new electronic smell.

Sorry you're experiencing this @jakeattack77 - Is yours a new branded version or a standard manufactured version?

PIU does look to have the latest version. Trying to keep tabs on a pattern/similarities if taste and smell become a more common complaint. IMO we're not there yet but.....The last time I saw something where others experienced taste / smell issues and I didn't was after I tested the initial release of the Focus. They changed the material the vape was packaged in and the packaging smell worked it's way into the vapes outer covering causing the vape to absorb/pull the smell through the air holes.
