Alternate is a dynamic load in the 0-20A range and you want a battery that can maintain the highest voltage over that range. All of the batteries listed are compatible with the discharge profile that Alternate is using (which is based on VTC4 characteristics)

30Q clearly does a better job at maintaining voltage above 3.2V (the point where VTC4's voltage takes a dive)

The more I use the alternate the more I love it. For all of you with a cracked mouthpiece - or just anyone who likes convection vapor - if you happen to have an 18mm stem from another vaporizer such as the milaana or LSV you're set. I just did a 100% convection bowl using my Milaana stem and some shatter wrapped in organic cotton. Just hold the stem up to the bowl, it makes a perfect (enough) seal. Insane flavor and massive clouds. The alternate can absolutely be 100% convection if you use an 18mm stem. Someone test it with some flower!

Hey FC family,

I just wanted to give you guys a heads-up on a small change coming to Vivant. Due to personal matters, I have to move away from our office, and so I'll have to leave the company. :(

We hired a new CSR, Ivan, to take over my responsibilities. He'll be responding to you both here and over email, and he'll be upholding the Vivant tradition of helpful customer service and community involvement. (He's also a more direct participant in the vaping community than I am outside of work, so he should be easier to talk to.)

I'm sorry to have cut my time with you guys so short! Rest assured that Vivant will always be here if you ever need questions answered or would like to give feedback. Thank you all for the impact you've helped make to Vivant and all of your invaluable input. I hope you go easy on Ivan, at least at first. ;)

Thank you all, and I hope you guys have a great week. :leaf:

i have samsung 25r and 30q , and its weird that if i vape at 185 C i can see vapors , but if i take brake and start another section with higher temperature , it gives no vapor,,

so Basically i vape at 192 c or something , if i take brake and start again in high temp like 220 c, there is no vapor.... And that Air pathway button problem too , with low i am not getting any vapor at all, but in medium and high am getting good amount of vapor.

could be this problem be because of Bad Herb. ?

We will miss you, Gwen. You did a fabulous job under trying circumstances all the while keeping up your composure and super pleasant personality. THAT is a real trick.

Best of luck in all of your future endeavors.

Usually after one session at one temp I notice that if i leave it at the same temp not much vapor comes out, I believe that you should step up the temp every session if youre using the same material. I'll do one session at 365, then after that ill bump it up to 385. Also I noticed the chamber is pretty small, im pretty sure all of us here could kill the bowl in a 3min session no problem.

I just got the alternate in the mail today so im still figuring it out.

I pack my bowls with .14g of material (RH50% bud via Vivanti grinder) and I've ended up with something quite similar:
  • 1 min on 185C (365F)
  • 1 min on 195C (383F)
  • 1-2 min on 200C (392F)
After that I consider the bowl finished and dump it in my AVB jar.

i do man
talking Celsius if i vaped at 195 C once for one or two min then leave out , then next 1 min sec in 120 C i usully get very to no vapor... On other hand with my gpen elite i was able to get small clouds on 195 then huge on 220 C,, but not with vivant altenate..

My mouthpiece is too cracked , But still no problem in vaping,

Do you stir the bowl in between sessions? My first session is usually around 370 for 2min. Then after that I can usually get 1-2 more sessions at 380. Decent vapor towards the end but kind of dry.

I would say the Alternate is a pretty good hybrid of both convection/conduction. Heavier towards convection imo. Im guessing the gpen elite is 100% conduction. In general with conduction vaping the vapor production is going to be slow at first and after a few mins a lot of vapor is produced because the whole oven is cooking. With the alternate its easy to get heavy clouds from the first draw because of the hot air going through the herb.

im considering picking one up for a family vacation next week. Had a few questions:

@Vitolo i would be using it for quick sessions although I would be fully killing the herb per session. So maybe like 2 or 3 minute sessions at a pretty high heat. Is this similar to how you use it? Since your cap is still in tact I'd like to mimic that technique :) I totally agree that the extended usage from firmware upgrade probably is leading to cracks. I know a lot of people had Mighty cracks and from my perspective they were hooking it up to water sometimes and the Mighty wasn't designed for such long draws that you can get with a water pipe.....anecdotal evidence but I've used mine stock and it's a first iteration of the unit (where problems were plenty), I've surpassed my warranty claim and then some and it still holds up fine no cracks or breaks.

Does the 1 min auto off not include heat up time or do you really only have 40-30 seconds at heat? Don't recall how long it takes to heat although I'm sure pretty fast.

Is the screen in the Vivant mouthpiece a fine screen? And if so will it fit in a Crafty CU or would I need to get Crafty screens? I know the Mighty CU has a wider meshed screen by default and would like to use a thin one to minimize scooby snacks in the mouthpiece.

I appreciate all the info - I'm reading backwards but haven't seen these addressed yet so figured I'd ask you fine folk

The shutoff timer does not include the heat-up time. It starts once the device is up to temp. Note the heat-up is a little slow by the standards of latest-generation devices.

The screen on the Vivant mouthpiece is much finer than the Crafty/Mighty CU screen.

I've had mine since 4/20 and I haven't cracked the (original?) mouthpiece yet. I dont know what I'm doing different to anyone else, but my sessions last about 3 minutes each (usually using up most of the load in one go). The mouthpiece gets hot to the touch and I always remove the mouthpiece after my session for at least a minute or two, so the heater can exhaust the heat through the bowl, instead of heating up the mouthpiece further. Or maybe I'm just lucky. The Vivant takes about 75 seconds to reach 375f for me, and thats when the 3-minute countdown begins. The bowl isn't large, so its easy to use it up in one solid session of 3-minutes. I just took mine on vacation with a few spare batteries and some pre-ground in a Jyarz container and can confirm it works really well. I use it with the green airflow switch set to fully open (full convection mode?).

Bought 2 Alternates on the 4/20 sale. They came with extra top caps. So far, one top cap has cracked, and another seems assembled backwards because you can only get any airflow if it is in closed position. When it is "open" it is completely blocked. Also a piece of the body of one vape actually broke off.

I have contacted them via their website a couple days ago as well as here via PM, requesting an email response so I could send photos, but so far, no response.....where is Ivan, Gwen's replacement?

Anyone have any experience vaping kief in the Alternate? I only had enough for a small bed below the kief, and I have nothing to cover it with. Or do you even need to cover it?
