do the 18mm oversized nongs still exist or due to be brought back into stock?

They're currently non-existent but I'm working hard to bring them back in a reborn form that has dual compatibility with both the Alpha and the SC1-2 cores. Hopefully I'll have them done and available next week.

The clock is ticking on us since we have to be out of our house and the shop in just about another 3 weeks when it closes escrow. Lots of projects we have to get done before then. :borg: :zombie:

Alright, we've got a few more Alpha-Dogs left over, but only a few! http://underdogvapes.com/vapes-available/alpha-dog

Get 'em while they're hot! I'm not sure when we'll be able to make more.

Everyone on the list who purchased already will have theirs shipped tomorrow. Thanks for your patience!

Oh that is so tempting. I wish I could afford it right now.

I did pick up a nice wooden stem though! Could not let the sale go past me completely.:)

My black walnut (I thought I wanted a purpleheart, but reading that they can crack easily turned me away from them... plus actually, I like the dark wood better. :3) is on its way to me! Very excited. I had a hard time deciding on stems, but I think I got a good mix in the end.

It'll be here Thursday, just in time for the weekend. Thank god. I need some relaxation after what is already a stressful work week. I might have gained an ulcer from the past two day alone.

So I got my padauk yesterday and I've tried it out, got a few questions.

Using the normal wallplug power supply I think I'm getting a little bit of combustion with my glass stems, I'd notice it'd taste noticibly different and look scorched black instead of just darker, and when I used some of the really finely ground weed I had around it even seemed to happen with one of the smaller nylon stems, although I don't think I'll be using such a fine grind since it seemed to get stuck in there anyway, came out like a spitball when I was trying to blow the stem empty. I got a travel vvps though, and using it set to 11 I haven't had any combustion with any glass or nylon stems. Is my unit just hot, or is there some technique I should be using to avoid trouble with the normal power supply?

Another thing is if it's normal for the wood itself to get pretty warm after the log has been plugged in for a while, because mine definitely is, and while it's not burning to the touch or anything it feels pretty warm, in fact at one point I heard a pop from the unit and it looks like a hairline crack happened. As long as it doesn't affect the function or safety I'm not really worried, but I hope it doesn't mean more are on the way, because if it gets a bunch of these I don't think it'll hold up.

Other than that it definitely seems to work well, it vapes through my material in no time, much more practical than dealing with my Air's batteries and how many hits I need to take to get a bowl done, I ain't got time to deal with that when I'm playing Overwatch or whatever.

Hey there! Welcome to the UD Pack. Yes, you will need to use your Travel VVPS. We've upped the power on all our vapes, and are going to be including some type of voltage-adjustment device (dimmer, LED dimmer, or travel VVPS), from now on, with every vape. Your voltage range sounds just about right.

Also, all of the Paduak Dogs are being sold as Lost Dogs (as well as the Purpleheart vapes), because they are very prone to cracking. This will not affect performance, and your vape will not break apart. There's nothing to worry about. :)

Sounds like you got it dialed in with the VVPS. Let us know if there's anything else! Happy Vaping!

Yes, it is normal for my UD's to be warm to the touch, not too hot, as you say. Experiment a lot. The grind of your herb, the moisture content, all have a lot to do with the final result. Also your draw speed and how tightly you pack.

I grind medium coarse, pack medium firm, and go from there. After one day, you are nowhere near where you'll be after a few months of regular use. A good log is my favorite way to partake at home. So flavorful and so efficient. Take your time, pay attention to the variables

My UD arrived on Thursday, the Black Walnut is gorgeous and just the right size! I love that I can put it on the shelf and it doesn't look like a weird vape, lol. I put it on 10 to warm it up 5 to 10 minutes, then drop it to around 6 to use it.

I'm surprised that I really like the nylon stem a lot. I expected not to, because glass feels nice, but I dig it! At ~6 I can get three to four draws on a small bowl (seriously like maybe .1 gram, something smaller than a pea size) and start feeling good without feeling over medicated (unlike the Solo, which takes at least double and I almost always walked away a little too well done).

My biggest concern, which was completely unfounded, with this was it smelling/tasting like wood when drawing, like the v2 of the Firewood. Nope! Just cannabis and nothing else.

Came home with a migraine this afternoon and was happy to be able to get some relief quickly. Thanks, Underdogs!

Cranking the dog to high and fogging up Mr. Bubbsy the bubbler at the end of a long week.

Now that this is my only log in the house, I'll be using it a lot more.

The o ring on my air core broke, but I like the glass stem sitting deeper on the core, anyway. Not a lot, but deeper than standard.

Rock on, dogs.

Alright, let's talk about the Alpha...

How much does the chamber hold?

Since I do not leave mine on all the time, heat up time is important. Is it fully ready for back to back draw in say 5 minutes? And not by cranking to 12v and then turning down, just having the VVPS set to something like 10.5v and letting it come to temperature 'naturally'.

As I do not currently have an UD...can someone give me an idea of how much the stems for the standard core (both regular and oversized stems) can hold? Perhaps compared to a Vapcap chamber?

The larger surface area allowing larger loads and having a more "session load" is what entices me most. I like the small loads allowing for excellent flavor on almost every hit but there are times...say while watching a movie with the wife in the dark...it would be nice to be able to cut down on reloads. But if I'm looking at something like a 10-15 minute heat up time...I know it won't get used very much.

Any other input is really appreciated.

Thank you!

I did a very non-scientific test just now for you and my new Alpha took around 11 minutes to get up to temp at 12v. I dropped it down to around 10v after. That is the temp when I could feel heat back on my face when I blew on the core as Underdogette shows in her videos. The micro took around the same. If you are looking for 5 minute heat-up I don't think you are going to get it in a traditional log unless maybe you ran it higher than 12v at first. I don't like to "overclock" mine though.

Why don't you just turn it on 10 minutes before the movie starts and you will be good to go the whole film. Or get a butane vape to use while you wait. The Alpha monster 18mm NonG holds max .5, normal UD 14mm GonG maybe .15 from my test. Probably half those amounts would be ideal for convection/draw though. A pair of the Alpha NonGs for the movie should be enough I would think unless it is a really boring flick. I can't recommend the Alpha enough though, especially with the $40 matching micro deal if that is still going on. The giant size of the NonGs really makes it a powerhouse.
