Maybe I fudged my birthday when I signed up. :tinfoil:

It's a big one. I'm older than a lot of you and younger than a lot (although that number is dwindling quickly).
Sorry for the double post, can't edit.

Happy birthday @duff! Thank for the work in this thread and I'm rooting for you to get a Nomad today. Have a good birthday and good luck.

Unfortunately I did not make it into the first batch. That said, last night I put together a very rough tool to visualize papers on your potential nomads!
To you lucky few, hopefully this might give you some ideas! To the rest of us, we just get to see some potential designs haha.

I present to you, the Nomad Creation Kit!

https://d3n84o4326zn7e.cloudfront.net/

It pulls directly from the paper websites Dan wants us to use, keep in mind there would be much I want to add, if people REAAAAAALLLYYY want me to make it better etc I probably can. Maybe Dan already has something he is working on. But I figured I would share what I have. The priority of this little project of mine is pretty low until we near when the next batch might happen and I can design my own haha.

If Dan shares images finished parts/cocobolo, black wood etc and keeps images consistent I could build on this much more, but thats probably something for him to PM me about if he wants me to do anything with this.

P.s I more or less guesstimated how that paper website is naming and storing files. It mostly works. But also doesnt. Click a bunch if things get slow/dont seem to work and if you have slow internet give it time to load images.

also, hello FC. Long time lurker. Newish account. and probably my first post ever.

@KawaiiOppai

Welcome to the forum! And very nice job on the nomad creation tool!

It's a little slow for me but it does a great job. Quick question, does it take size into account? Those papers are made at a certain size, so they'll need to be cropped accordingly to give a true representation of how it looks on the Nomad. Just curious if you took that into account. Either way, great job. Thanks for sharing it.

@KawaiiOppai Just tried it on my ipad doesn't seem to work. All I get is the title screen with "Nomad Your journey begins here" unless I'm doing something wrong.

edit: Just tried on my phone too, same result.

Added touch support. Havnt tested it however, but I think it should work now.

Tap to go forward an image. double tap to go back an image.

edit: lets just say its not mobile ready. Ill change mobile controls after work tomorrow. For the best experience, use a computer and mouse(really, just a mouse on any device will work)

Ill make it so that tapping left side of screen goes back and right side goes forward a paper.

Nice tool bud.

Seemed to be working fine on my android.

What a great way to enter the community!

Man it's a tough call. I really like all three of my final design selections!

Version #1 is the deluxe burl version.

It would have the cherry burl body and a cherry stem collar, and a 'CHIYOGAMI 638' wrapper:

This version would be the best one for an abalone fire button, if I was so inclined.

Versions #2 and #3 would both use a regular cherry body and a blackwood stem collar.

#2 would have a 'LACQUERED YUZEN - DRAGONFLY' wrapper:

Both this and the version below would be fine with the lichen fire button.

Version #3 would have a 'CHIYOGAMI 389' wrapper:

Every time I think I'm leaning towards one it changes! This happens often...

Three completely different looks, it's tough to decide!

So many great choices :freak:

The only problem I have is a need to see a body in a cherry burl with a blackwood stem so I can match my sleeve design to that. I have been going through the papers selection and picked out a few but it is a bit difficult with a walnut colored body.

Fat Freddy

FUCK CANCER TOO !
Just one point to remember, perhaps a minor one, is that MOST of the body is going to be covered by the sleeve; so in terms of visual impact the sleeve will be predominate most of the time.

Also, a question for @Dan Morrison . Assuming that over time the lichen inside the button will become dry and will be susceptible to deterioration, will the user be able to DIY with replacement content in the button?

@delloy It looks like we're on the same vaporizer schedule, which do you think will arrive first?

They look unbelievable! Personally, I vote for the 1st and last ones.

The difference between the 1st two is just the button, right? The wood on that is outstanding!

Keep us posted!!!

Edit: I keep looking closer at the woods. They're all beautiful. I think I just liked the red collar with the dragonflies.

A few more! Apparently this paper shimmers in the light, with a gold design that comes in and out of sight, cool! Chiyogami 208.

The below paper, 653, comes in this subdued gray tone, and a green tone. Both are less saturated than the above paper.

Because @delloy wanted to see some burl, we've got some burl/stem combos with my sleeve (sorry, can't duplicated this sleeve).
