Herb Grinders

the knurling dimples on my two piece are slighty different top piece to bottom piece, top has like one less row of dimples. but interesting to hear your issues. please keep us posted?

Mine had the same uniform knurling dimples but the part as a replacement for the kief bottom section has different spacing and overall as @gonzorelli777 said there must of been a change somewhere. I do not think the same CNC machine made these or there was changes made somewhere.

My current bottom section fits, But weirdly on one side if you ran your nail down it would catch on one side the rest of the grinder is flawless. But if i installed the new one you could not run a nail down the side of the grinder it would catch all the way around on the new one. It must be half a mm if even that so it is incredibly small tolerances.

For replacements and parts to be sold on the website you would need to know everything fits all iterations.

SW3 is (I assume) the name of the new grinder from @InterplanetaryTanner - not sure when it will be released (probably a bit off now, since the SW2 was the beginning of this year) but you'll probably want it since he is actively soliciting feedback from us here.

Any improvements to the SW2 will be very welcomed as this grinder has been pretty much perfect for my needs at a great price point (fairly sure I paid $25 and no shipping on my SW2...)
How do I get a SW2 for $25? I'll buy one now!

Seems i jumped the gun and have to re-contact Space Case sigh. The parts do not fit and there are very very minute difference in them for example the little dimples for grip are smaller on the one i got from spacecasegrinders.com compared to the one i just got sent. I can count them 6 from top to bottom on the new one but they are so small on the other i cannot count them but i think it is 5 or 6.

But the real issue is when i screw the bottom on it clearly protrudes out you can not get it flush it sticks out quite ugly. So this should be interesting either i have a very old model or well i cam not going to suggest anything yet it could even be a simple defect.

I am hoping to eventually resolve this and find out why they are different and why mine has purple spots. But for someone to try to buy a part online from thier website and see they do not fit the grinder they bought from Spacecasegrinders.com could get messy. So i think it is good this actually happened to find out why there are differences.

Wow. We are seriously concerned about this and are here to help. For consistency, the pieces are always machined together. Generally we can match one piece to another with no issues. It is possible the machining can cause a slight minor difference, but it sounds that it's a big difference. Can you send some pictures to my space case email? Thanks!

The black tie is certainly a decent economical choice. However, if you're choosing a grinder based on cost, there's literally a ton of different brand names that are exactly the grinder as the black tie for about have the cost.

Today i received my Black Tie Grinder and im quite happy of it!! The grinding is finer than my old cheap aluminium grinder and this new one costed me just 25€!!

If you are searching for a cheap quality grinder this is a good go to product imo
It looks like it gets good reviews on Amazon. But while the interplanetary ones are on sale I would get one of those. They turn easily and don't really need much cleaning.
One thing I find about grinders is that many of them work great when new, over time they seem to clog or get harder to turn. I'm trying to avoid getting new grinders although the designed interplanetary ones draw me- but they'd be too much money. Anyway, I'd love to hear how you like it in 6 months or so.

NAh

Im not feeling shitty about my purchase, im happy with my new grinder and ill dont become a homeless for 25€.

Maybe next time ill need to buy a grinder, ill watch for a super weapon 2 cause looks good.

PS the black tie have more teeth than the standard grinders and have little holes compared to my older one, this is why i get a finer grinded herb

Not at all. Pustupillo is from Europe and is clearly very happy with his purchase. He also really wouldn't be able to get anything for much cheaper than $30 from the US due to the insane cost of shipping. (Off the top of my head, I believe the cheapest rate is about $22)

But our US friends have more options. And while the Black Tie fits the bill for those looking for something thats reasonably cheap, will work, and last awhile, they have raised their price significantly lately. And there are a million different rebrands of that grinder on Amazon that can be had for cheaper.

Hello everyone!

I posted this in the "Santa Cruz Shredder" thread, but it seems like it would also go well in this thread, so here goes! :)

Long time lurker, first time posting.

For a while, I had a "grinder fetish" and kept buying the damn things in search of... well... not really sure. Bought literally a dozen plus grinders in a period of just a few months. My conclusions?

#1 - The VERY BEST grinders I personally found that I liked are SLX and Santa Cruz Shredder, especially the SCS 3-piece versions. Both of these brands are nothing short of spectacular!

#2 - Just about EVERY STUPID GRINDER COMPANY in the WORLD does the central magnet mounting ASS BACKWARDS... with the magnet protruding from the lid half, causing the user to need to keep the center portion of the grinding area clear of herb, or it gets mashed down in the center by the lid magnet, making the grinder "gap" and work incorrectly. The ONLY grinders I have found that do this part of the design CORRECTLY are SLX, Santa Cruz Shredder, and Cosmic.

#3 - I have owned both 4-piece as well as larger 2-piece Space Case grinders. Fit and finish are comparable to Santa Cruz Shredder, except for the above annoying design problem that plagues even the much touted Space Case! I now own only a single (large sized green 2-piece) Space Case, with no plans to invest further in that brand.

#4 - Cosmic grinders are nice, but a bit overpriced IMHO. I personally think that SCS is easily the equal of Cosmic, and lower priced to boot!

#5 - I have tried most of the "name brand" Chinese grinders, and personally I would stick with Chromium Crusher or Slug Life... both of these brands are quite high quality, especially for the price. However, I've found that since obtaining my SLX and Santa Cruz Shredders, I never reach for the Chinagrinders any more. Oh... BTW, I have no love for Sharpstone... that is the only Chinese "name brand" grinder that has ever broken and shed a tooth on me. Straight to the garbage! :(

#6 - There is a company in China that is making solid titanium grinders in 2" and 2.5" sizes. These are NOT "Titanium coated" grinders, but rather solid titanium CNC machined units. They are available on Amazon.com rather inexpensive (around $13 and $20 respectively) and they are GREAT grinders! Still, I don't reach for them any more since I found SCS and SLX. Linky(s):

https://www.amazon.com/Titanium-Herb-Magnetic-Grinder-Large/dp/B00BH409FY/ref=cm_cr_arp_d_product_top?ie=UTF8

#7 - Unless you are trying to collect Kief, I personally think that 3-Piece grinders are THE WAY AND THE LIGHT, and my definite preferred configuration. Less mechanical complexity, fewer threads to go wrong, more lightweight/compact, and no screen to clog or break. The SLX grinders are "by default" a 3-piece design (with removeable "screen tray"). The SCS 3-Piece designs are almost ideal... especially when you consider that GREAT concave finger scooping collection chamber! :)

#8 - For travel, a SCS 2-Piece in small (1.5") is Da Shizz! For home, I prefer something 2.4" to 3" in diameter, with a collection chamber (3 or 4 piece). My current "go-to" home grinders are the SLX 2.4" (Purple) and the Santa Cruz Shredder Large 2.75" (Matte Teal) 3-Piece grinder. I reach for either depending on my mood. If I could only have one? The SCS Teal Large 3-Piece would be it, no doubt.

#9 - I've found that I just don't have much use for "Medium" sized grinders... anything from 2" to about 2.25" seems too big for travel, but too small for comfortable home grinding of a decent quantity of plant. However, this is just me and my preferences... your own mileage and requirements might vary.

#10 - If you buy Santa Cruz Shredder, from their website, you will notice that most of their grinders are available in "Gloss" and "Matte" versions. I've bought and used both types. I personally prefer the "Matte" finish... in my mind it just looks better, and seems to do slightly better at "non stick" than the Gloss versions. One other thing... most online retailers of Santa Cruz Shredder grinders seem to completely ignore this version difference, and don't tell you which finish type is being sold. Idiots! First law of retail? TELL THE BUYER WHAT THEY ARE BUYING! Sheesh... it's just not that hard... mouth breathing morons. I would advise that you buy straight from SCS website, at least until their distributors get their $h!7 together.

#11 - I have never tried the Space Case "Titanium" (actually Titanium compound coated) grinders. Until such a time as Space Case changes their misleading marketing hype wording to say "Titanium Compound Coated" or something more honest like that. I believe in voting with my dollars, and I do NOT reward companies (with my money) when they do misleading marketing BS like this! So... Space Case... are you listening?

In short, buy what you want and what you can afford, but my own experience says that you really can't do much better than SLX or Santa Cruz Shredder! I would be happy with either brand (in large size), if I could only have one grinder forever.

Titanium grinders don't exist. A quality aluminum grinder costs just under $20 to produce... Any grinder claiming to have anything do to with titanium is shady marketing. And the entirety of that claim has to do with the color being "titanium".

With all due respect, you are completely wrong.

While I agree with you that MOST grinders claiming to be "Titanium" are pure marketing hype referring to the color or coating, there actually ARE pure Titanium grinders available. Buy either of the two grinders I posted Amazon links for... they are both 100% Titanium metal. I have confirmed this by density measurement. They are HEAVY grinders, and definitely CNC machined Ti metal.

Still have doubts? I will ship one of mine to you to examine for yourself... if you promise to ship it back to me.

They don't exist. Please stop spreading alternative facts.

Sir,

You are the one who is "spreading alternative facts" here. Unlike yourself, who has absolutely ZERO evidence for your viewpoint, I am putting my money where my mouth is! Provide me with your shipping address, and I will ship to you (at my cost) one of my Titanium grinders so you can see for yourself and publicly state that you were incorrect... if you have a shred of integrity.

The challenge has been issued. What do you say? Are you SO CERTAIN that you are correct, or are you willing to examine the actual EVIDENCE for yourself? At this point, I don't even care if I get the grinder back... it's worth it to show you how wrong you really are!

Everything I have posted here is based on PHYSICAL OBSERVATION and the scientific FACT of Ti density... where are you getting the information you are posting? I'm guessing some place the sun don't shine...

P.S. Off to sell my SWII... I don't want to own your stuff any more. Way to lose a customer! :)
