TV Shows - General Discussion

Never checked this thread before today.
Thanks for all of the recommendations. Keep them coming!
I don't watch a bunch of tv but love anything stoner-vision related.

Love all David Lynch so will definitely check the new season out.

Watch Survivor with the family for years now. We also watched Alone (I think) which was very we produced.

I've never heard of half of these shows but will be checking a few of them out.

Now if Monty Python reruns are on, get out of my way!

I’M WORRIED ABOUT COOP !

Edit: @vaporist4LIFE If you wanna see a young Bob Odenkirk (Better Call Saul), check out Mr. Show w/ Bob & David. It was a sketch comedy show on HBO from '95 to '98. It has it's "Python-esque" moments.

They did w/ Bob and David for Netflix too, who like to revive a lot of shows... Don't forget Parks & Rec, 30Rock, Arrested Development, Rick & Morty, Archer, Louie, Atlanta, Better Things, much much more, then all the dramas...

Yeah, the show was great until they were forced to reveal who the killer was earlier than anticipated. After Lynch left, the rest of the 2nd season became just like that horrible soap opera, "Invitation to Love", all the characters watched in the 1st season. But the last 4 or 5 episodes are worth the drudgery (black & white lodges!), and a return to form of the 1st season.

"Fire Walk with Me" is awesome. It's Lynchs' horror movie. I think it even made Fangorias list of top 25 horror flicks.

If you guys like Fire Walks With Me or Twin Peaks in general I suggest picking up the blu-ray for FWWM because it has almost two hours of deleted footage that really fleshes out the Twin Peaks universe. David Bowie is on screen for more than 30 seconds!

It's even edited together to be almost like another movie. I can't recommend it more. There are also a lot of deleted scenes (a Lynch rarity) edited together on the Blue Velvet blu-ray, but they don't add as much as the FWWM scenes do in my opinion.

Can I just say that episode 1 of season 3 was great! Not what I expected at all, which is a good thing. I got hints of all of Lynch's works, and a lot of it reminded of Cronenberg for some reason.

Yes you can! I'll second that emotion! I forgot Showtime has episodes 3 & 4 on demand (after this Sunday, back to one hour/one episode per airing). Will be watching later today.

That's what I was hoping for...and it delivered in spades. It seems like The Return will feel more like a long movie than a TV show...and I'm good w/ that.

Yes! What about that black figure in the glass box...

...the glass didn't seem to do a very acceptable job at "holding it in".
And the woman in that (those) scene(s). OMFG! What a TOTAL BABE!!!

Is this what your referring to ? https://www.amazon.com/Twin-Peaks-Original-Missing-Blu-ray/dp/B01IKH6O3Q Either way, I need to pick it up. Oh, and they had this too. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B06Y1NJP58?psc=1 :rip: Log Lady

@grokit Did you watch the 1st two episodes yet? What'd you think ? Are you diggin' it ?

I don't think this show is gonna be for everyone...

Yes, that set is what I was talking about, I should have been more clear.

I will warn you that there is an audio glitch with that set for some people. It seems to be hardware dependent and possibly related to your blu-ray player. With my blu-ray player (PlayStation 3) the audio is slightly out of sync, but my audio receiver has an audio delay mode. So I just have to press one button to turn it to a 200ms delay and its fixed.

It seems like turning off 1080p/24 on your blu-ray player can fix it too but I have a 24fps capable TV so I like to watch everything in 24fps if possible.

Yes I watched the first four in a marathon, after re-watching the og pilot & episode #1 to 'get in the mood', totally unnecessary. I thought the whole thing was spot on, scary, campy all that lynchian dysfunctional perfection was on full display throughout you can tell. I need to re-watch fire walk with me that would have been a better intro but I stand by that og pilot episode for pure camp and great coffee. And cherry pie.

I was a Lynch fan back in the day, all his films, but for some reason never watched much of the series. Or if I did I forget it. So as soon as I post this I'm off to revisit. Thanks for the heads up.

Much in the same way, I never watched the original Star Trek in its entirety, and definitely not in chronological order. They're on NF now and it's been a blast. The way the personalities and relationships develop. The complexities of Kirk. And tv doesn't get much more camp. It's captured the attention of the whole family. We all sit down each night or so for an episode. We're at around episode 23 or so I think. Every episode is a trip in one way or another. I almost don't want to get to the end, even though I've heard things go bad in season 2. I'd say that from what I've seen so far it's the most creative U.S. tv series I've ever watched. But as I say, I owe TP a few episodes.

It's nice that the gum we like has come back in style

Just watched episodes 3 & 4, and so far, it lives up & surpasses the hype...for me. Like trippin' balls w/o the hallucinogens. I re-watched the series & FWWM before The Return. There's so much going on in the 1st 4 episodes, I feel bad for someone going into it cold. I can understand how it could be confusing & maybe a little off-putting :whoa: (esp. if they've never seen anything by Lynch before).

Anyone know where I can watch The Expanse in the US without having the dvr record all the repeats for a year?

Don't they have a deal with Netflix? I think that's where season one is, some streamer has the rights pretty sure and will get season two too

Give it a bit of time. It's worth the wait.....

Thanks you were right. Got through the first season (amazon prime). The second half of season two streams free on syfy but the first nine episodes don't for some reason. Not sure I'm wanting to buy the second season on amazon. Seems like the story might be drying up as more and more of each episode is taken up by fighting.

So I guess it's back to twin peaks on netflix. I've never watched shows this way but I'm liking it.

I finally binged through Legion (by the same guy behind Fargo, which I've been saving but will finally start soon), intense trippy stuff, very original too.

This season of Veep and Silicon Valley have been great as usual too, also finally finishing up Trial and Error now, so good. Gonna start American Gods soon...
