Hi:wave:, I'm new here signed up because of this thread. I purchased an Ardent Lift. My problem is/was that my lift won't go off after 1hour 15min. I saw that some people had the same problem or is it a problem? I manually turn mine off at 1Hr 30 to a golden brown color ,2nd attempt.

Gavmar did your unit go off at 1hr 47min or did you shut it off, also was it burnt tasting at all, at that color?

Does anyone else have there unit run longer? I just don't want to leave it and have it burn my meds. I read thru this thread way back before I made my purchase and I believe it was mentioned before, but the time was 90min shut off and that's why I chose that time to stop my unit.

You guys have a lot more time with your units than I do and seem cool so I decided to post.
By the way I sent a email to Shanel, waiting for a response. As far a smell mine doesn't smell more than the lid smell, my lid is oversized and I'm grateful for the lack of bud smell while its working. I really love this thing just want to know the time thing and will it shut its self off.

i've run mine about 8 times and it always shuts off ... after about 90 minutes. i don't like the inside silicone cover - i use aluminum foil.

Hi. Mine switched off itself at 1h 47m but I have run it dry and it switched of at about 1h 35m I think the time difference is it took a little longer to heat up with the herb in it than without it. The herb tastes and smells burnt but I have no clue if this is right because I have never decarbed herb before it was the first time. I decarbed a bit of BHO in it and it tasted burnt I usually decarb the BHO in an oil bath for between 28m to 50m depending on the oil it comes out tasting a lot less terpy but good, personally I am not that impressed with it. Looks like I just got a dodgy unit.

Units working "correctly" seem to be turning off btw 1h 40m and 1h 50m

Thank you guys for a quick response! Gavmar sound like your in my boat this is my 3rd attempt once in oven 2x in Lift. Wish it had more instructions maybe a trouble shooting section on the website cause my herb not as dark as yours but maybe its better that way:hmm: darker? My pamphlet says 1 hr 15 min run cool cycle, but 1hr 30min to like 1hr 50min is the range it seems... I'm going to run it again today and see what happens just let it run, within reason 2hrs tops. Not looking forward to a burnt taste though.

I like the silicone lid I cant smell a thing, but the oven decarb even though I thought I was being slick. Danked my apartment out so bad. If the foil helps with the time I may try it, but I need the covert option right now.

Thanks for all the impute I feel much better about my purchase now. Even with all the positive I feel about this unit I was afraid I may have got a defective 1 or maybe my meds are just really sticky not sure? But will keep using this even if it needs to be replaced.

Unit timing: The entire cycle, which includes the heat up, decarb and cool down period, takes from 1 hour 40 minutes to 2 hours. The sensors are monitoring the temperature in real time and prompting heating cycles that fully permeate all of the material, so the timing of each cycle is dependent on many factors, including the starting material temp, temp in your home, and amount of material you use.

Thanks Hobbess.... the post is on pg.13

Ok ran it today didn't have time yesterday it ran 1:57:51 so under two hours, light changed to green. I thought I had read this thread all the way thru months back but found this today... So yea Its working fine. I haven't looked at my herb yet, letting it cool for discreteness ya know. If its like the other decarbs its going to be great medicine. I'm going to email Shanel and let her know all is well.. Really the price of this unit is worth it. I am now officially in :love:love.

Hey guys just purchased an ardent nova after some weeks deliberating. I've come to the conclusion that if I'm going to go through the trouble of making edibles, I'd give this device a shot. I know the "reply situation" @ ardent hasn't had the best record based on the comments I've read. I've sent 3 emails and even followed up with a phone call and haven't heard anything from the past few days. I guess that's just the way it is. Can't wait to make some edibles tho. Will report any updates I get. Hopefully they get back to me at some point. Or maybe I'll just open the mailbox today and find the package there. Who knows.

Yea, the email situation isn't the best, but they do get back to you. I paid for the 1 week shipment and got it within the week, so that was great. Hope your package comes today, did you get a tracking #?...
I have made the best edibles since I got mine, so much better than the ABV and oven attempt at decarb.
Plus I have even just made Fatty teas and just put the herb in with that, its great. Your going to have so many options now. I would suggest you buy some sunflower lecithin makes your edibles and teas so much more potent.

I was anticipating buying one, but the refusal to answer 3 emails has soured me. I hope no one has a problem that requires a response from this company. Terrible customer service.

I am not sure if I will get another one or go with a Souse Vide water cooking machine when I next need to decarb. I used my Nova till it died; it took a bit, lol. I and the people I help out still all have a minimum of 6 months of oil on hand. Each.

Having gotten a call back from Shanel while she was driving back when I ordered mine? I do believe that they are simply that busy. My advice to them would be hire a few part time medical using disabled vets to pick up some of the slack on CS responce. But they are not dummies so the current state is probably with as much new help as they can acclimate into the company at one time.

Nice. Yea I've used my sous-vide with decent results but still lacking something that's probably my fault. lol. I'm a bit afraid to use the nova now that I'm hearing your device died? How's that? I figured these machines were bulletproof? Guess I was wrong, huh? Or am I? Hmm...

I have mixed feelings on that; can't give you a yes/no.

I had 2 in a row that were defective; one not usable out of the box. That was in a period where they were having QC issues but also blazing fast CS and they took care of the problem. From reports in this thread QC issues are fixed but communiqué is slower. The joys up upscaling a start up!

I am self quoting a previous post about my Nova giving up the ghost. Yes, I am that lazy.
...I did many back to back runs at full capacity for the same reasons [helping others prepare their meds], and without the cool down period. All within the product guidelines; but still. After 40 runs the temp control went out (UP!) and I effectively vaped rather than decarbing a load, lol. Not a big deal for me with free meds but potentially catastrophic for a poor person in a non legal state.

HOWEVER: I was knowingly pushing it within the stated guidelines to see how it held up. :p (doctor, doctor, it hurts when I do this...)...

I was super careful in my use of the devise. It was never dropped and lived in the back of a cabinet rather than on the counter top. But I do expect that my style of usage dun kilt it.

If/when I get another one I will always do a cool down between runs.

Hmm, so it's a cooling issue it sounds like. Thanks for the advice man, I will try to add a cool down between runs. Hopefully it don't crap out on me. If it does, I'll just go back to my sous vide. Glad to hear its a solid device when it works though. Man, I figured they have a 1 yr replacement plan under their warranty. Maybe if it's less than a year and that happens I'll be able to get a new replacement? We'll see. I e-mailed Shanel over at Ardent Nova but haven't heard anything back. I think I sent the e-mail Saturday so that would be about 4-5 days ago. Hmm...the mysterious lack of customer service continues...despite this I cannot wait to get my device lol.

Oh btw, how many decarbs were you able to run on the device while it was working? 20 decarbs? 50? 100+? I think I'm planning to use it weekly. Just wanted to see how much I might be able to run on it before it meets it's maker. It's weird now even though I'm excited to receive it, I now have this thought in the back of my head that it will die one day within a year or so lol. I guess this kind of machine is delicate at this stage of production and really can't take a beating or even a light bump on the shoulder, if you will. They should really work on not letting their machines die so quickly. I feel like you had you're device only a year. That's really a disappointment. I feel your pain. Losing $200 bucks sucks. Sounds like a really great device, I wouldn't want to shell out $200/year because they can't make a machine that lasts 12 months. I have an army of vaporizers that a constantly being heated over 5+yrs old some of them & still work like brand new. I guess it just comes down to cheap quality hardware. This machine seems far from a beastly one, but I still somehow want one. I must be delusional. haha. However, if it does break for any reason I know I will probably feel the same as you and likely not purchase again.

40 runs (+/- 1 or 2). All at full capacity. I have a large center island kitchen, a Magical Butter Machine, and 2 refrigerators. So I hosted fudge making parties for a bunch of older, mebables users. One of the guys brought an additional MBM; so, the the bottle neck was very much the Nova.

I do 2 hour oil runs. 2 machines brings it back down to 1 run/hour. So every hour of MBM ate up 3 hours of Nova decarbed bud.

Nice. I've got an MBM too. I think I can decarb with it maybe at the 220 setting for an hour but never tried.

MBM used to claim "no decarb necessary!". They no longer do dat.

Doing a longer run at a higher temp may well work. I don't entirely trust it though; hence the Nova.

operational status update: i am running a 6g of herb decarb every other day since 4/14 for Everclear exraction. NOVA is working great. i use two layers of aluminum foil with a 1/4" air gap as a top cap. one layer is where the inside of the container narrows, just below the top, and the other layer is over the top of the container. very consistent result and the same as using the silicone cover the first two times. the dead air gap is very effective as an insulator (same trick used in the Bud Toaster to keep the body of the cube from getting warm).

the nice thing is that the buds don't need to be broken up before loading the NOVA - i don't jam it in, 6g fits well, could probably do 8g at one time. then, after decarb, the herb is frangible, so it is easily broken up with a wooden spoon handle before the 4 minute Everclear wash. i use 4oz of solvent which evaporates in air in about 24 hours. both herb and solvent go into freezer for at least 2 hrs before the wash/extraction.

an 0.1g dab is very strong, i.e. a lot of THC per dab.

If you grind it still warm it has a moist baked hash texture and will white wall easily. Store it in glass and it will stay like that for a longtime. Kind of like cannabis char cloth. lol

everyones decarbing their herbs, but no one speaks about cooking. those threads are dead.... so i have a question for you vets. i tried a method of decarb where i kept the herbs in a mason jar. i did 15 mins at 170f.
this is my third time cooking, the first two batches were outstanding. i decarbed in the oven though. 20 mins at 200f This third session i allowed the oil to steep for a record 12 hours. my end result was very mellow. i wonder if its the decarb process that didn't activate enough positive change?

Any thoughts on if its recomended to steep some more or be forced to cook with. maybe cooking will further decarb? lately i prefer the raw oil over cooking a batch of sweets....

thanks

u sound like u need to talk to someone whos done it before, as in "all the mistakes and variables possible in which to cook herb into various mixtures to be consumed while recording result overall effect" which is what i do. thanks ocd. my guess in your case the decarb isnt the problem. you cooked the buds to death. they dont need to bathe for that long.the magical butter does ounces (plural) in 2 hrs or so for butter, 1 hr for oil. good luck bro. keep us posted.

status update: well, a big thumbs up for the NOVA!

gf got pathology report from the melanoma re-excision, which states it is "in situ". This, after both the dermatologist and the surgeon said it was definitely NOT in situ. Did 4 weeks of RSO - about .3g per day for 4 weeks - cure the melanoma? i want to think so. what a hellacious 4 weeks it has been, too. BUT, all smiles now.

we will be following up with both docs over the next week - i want to verify the original diagnosis and this latest, most excellent, pathology report. dermatologist is a libertarian, so mmj friendly ... surgeon, not so much.

I could smoke a bunch of joints, do a bunch of dabs but it pales in comparison to the ardent. Honestly, this thing has proven itself. I don't usually stay stoned for 4 hours straight being a veteran toker. Basically what I'm sayin is every minute it hits harder and stronger than ever. I tried to use some crappy stems and twigs or whatnot and still it proves to be stronger and better hands down vs any other method. Guys this machine is a must. I hope it don't go broke on me. If you're like me and smoke 10 grams to the face and feel nothing, get this device. It will take you there. Oh baby. Feel like a kid again. Feels like my first time being stoned...again. Haha.
