Discontinued The Grasshopper

@biohacker: They definitely recommend tapping the side to empty it. I actually do that myself and I have had relatively good luck with reliability so I don't think that's a big issue but who knows, my experience is only anecdotal.

I missed out on a couple of days of this thread and it turned out there was a shitstorm during this time. Lots of talk about sub-par CS, which I've experienced myself.

Also talk about superstition. I'll be the first to admit I'm usually against any "voodoo" when it comes to fixing things. Unfortunately, the Grasshopper is very unreliable, and these voodoo fixes do occasionally work.

As the purveyor of the fixes resource I honestly wish it didn't need to exist. It's not that I mind maintaining it, it's that I wish there wasn't a need in the first place. I am probably looking forward to the day Grasshoppers are considered reliable more than anyone.

That being said, I'm thinking about adding @GreenHopper's "recalibration" trick to the resource. There definitely seems to be an issue where some units aren't heating as much as others.
Ahhh, did I stone walk thru this one? Is this a recent discovery?

Damn I hate trying to search on the phone..... Tapatalk please!

One thing I do want to talk about is using markers like Sharpies to label your batteries. I used to do this, but stopped because the markings kept wearing off and I would have to reapply them.

The funny thing is, during the time I was marking my batteries I noticed discoloration on the inside of the battery chamber. There was definitely gunk building up that I had to remove. Once I stopped marking my batteries the gunk stopped building up on the inner contact.

Unfortunately this is just one more anecdotal piece of evidence, but perhaps it may be helpful to some.

I was wrong, it was actually @JCat :

Finally tried turning on the Hopper and rotating dial down all the way and back immediately, then heat up time to blue is faster, vapor production is good enough to milk a bubbler at 5, and vapor output keeps up with a decent speed inhale for 10-15 seconds no problem. I've found if I do this turn-on/rotate down/rotate up process every time I turn it on, it has worked reliably well. It seems if I don't do this, vapor output drops, and presumably (I haven't tried yet), if I don't do it enough times in a row the burning hot back-end will re-occur (I'm going to have to test this but don't really want to waste my cannabis

I would test it myself but due to outside circumstances I don't have the ability right now. I don't have a problem with "wasting" cannabis in general ;)

PFE and a few batteries arrived today. Big improvement. PFE gives better airflow, and less heat to the mouthpiece. It's still the hottest vape mouthpiece I have, but at least it's less uncomfortable now.

New batteries are a night and day difference. The old ones are toast. The new ones produce like the GH should produce.

Wow! Should I?? Could this be it? The moment i've been waiting for? Or do I not take the "bait"?

So can't wait for your feedback on the Ti @JCat! More exciting than the NHL playoffs for me, which I personally think are rigged anyway.

Finally, Hopper Labs introduced same day shipping for domestic orders placed before 2 pm on weekdays.

wait times are back at 2 weeks.bummer.

Fucked if I know!?

Hi guys!

It's been while since I haven't posted or followed this thread, but I decided to chime in and tell you how my GH is working...

I have a 10 month old SS GH (GS0048xx), and I've had 2 RMAs, last one 3 months ago.

Right now my unit performs well: I use it everyday a couple of bowls between 3.5-4.5, and I don't baby it at all since the last RMA.

My RMAs have been pretty quick and inexpensive: 8-9 euros sending it from Spain, and +/- 20 days.

My only issue is that the (4 GHB1) batteries have really lost some punch... A couple of them only work through a bowl and a half...
I'm kinda waiting for another RMA so I can add to their shipment some new batteries and a PFE :brow::lol:

I really hope things work out and issues get solved for everyone, so we can all hop happily ever again...
But if not, I'm sure we'll be able to find another vape that suits our needs

Overall I am happy with my unit, but I am also happy to have a good backup as well ;)

Peace!

Then again, if you order now - will you be getting the latest model? :)

I wouldn't do it just yet @biohacker. I would wait a month or two to see how much reliability improves. Who knows, they might set up warranty service within Canada soon too. If they did that it would be an easier recommendation.

I feel like I should make a flowchart for the generic question "should I buy a Grasshopper". If I did make such a flowchart one of the first questions would be "do you reside in the US?"

Unfortunately it's a lot harder to recommend the hopper if you have to pay international shipping charges. Another question would be "do you need extreme stealth?"

If you live in the US, need extreme stealth, and have the patience to deal with a potentially large number of returns, then the Grasshopper is an easy recommendation (lol). For everyone else, it's not so easy to recommend until there are further improvements to the reliability. I'm hoping the latest changes make a big difference!

As always awesome post @Vapor_Eyes ! I agree 100%, and will wait until/if a repair centre opens on this side of the border (if Trump allows it!). When/if that happens, i'll be on board again 100% with two hoppers, just for the "fun" of it :rofl:Both will be SS this time, because as purty as the coloured ti's are, I just don't feel they are worth the extra cash.

@JCat where the ti trackless rma at? Wherever it is, and wherever you are, I hope you are having an amazing trip! Don't hurt yourself doing that GH Voodoo Dance with your SS! :p

Some Hopper vape porn.:p

My 2 happy Hoppers getting ready for game 7! :uhoh:

Ah....would that be game seven of the Caps versus the Penguins which the Caps will definitely win tonight? LOL They sure gave the Pens a spanking on Monday night.

Listen, I actually think the Penguins are a complete class act organization, Lemieux is a prince of a man, and they have a great team. I expect it to be REAL chippy tonight. Be interesting to see how the refs call the game.

Cheers

@Vape Dr. and @duff - we, I concede. Hell of a game though. The way Fluery goes is the way the game goes and he went full out tonight.

Eh...not too bad for me though. I live in MD now but was born in Pittsburgh and lived there until 12. I still remember going to Pirates games at whatever the stadium was before Three Rivers.

Cheers

Hi, am a proud user of the TI from Cape Town South Africa. ordered March last year and dispatched in December received Jan. So far love my hopper..very efficient and fast and neat magnetic charger. It does get hot and so normally use with bubbler. I recently bought the Da Vinci IQ as backup on 420 sale...has cooler great tasting Vape, but uses a lot and more of a session Vape. Thanks to you guys here for great user experience info. Here a pic of me and my daughter at the cannabis march, me hitting the hopper.

For people using their Grasshopper device sparingly, have you had any quality related problems? I am curious whether a puff every now and then "stresses" the product as much as doing several sessions in a row via a bubbler of similar. In other words, looking for whether it is just a matter of crappy design/build quality, and/or related to the device being used very intensively and therefor having heat related issues primarily due to that.

If a heating related issue, then my foreseen usage patterns wouldn't stress it much, however if it just craps out for people no matter how you handle it - then it is entirely another matter.
