Hey Air fans..... I tried searching for "dimples" here with no hits. I'm just curious what the 2016/17 Air is like for airflow with the new dimples in the oven? Is there is a big difference compared to without?

It would be nice to see a new version of the Air with the new dimples for better air flow but for now dimples can only be found in the Solo 2.:)

I just got one with "dimples" after replacing the unit I bought a couple months after they came out. I swear it feels smaller than I remember but I doubt the dimentions have changed. I was sad to see it did not come with the smaller stem with a tip but then again, I don't remember if it ever did? I'll probably pick up the 60mm stems if I can't find ones that are smaller, I feel like they make a difference in stealthy situations.

Over all I'm super happy I replaced my old favorite. The lights are a little different (origional white looks like purple now) and the airflow/ cloud production is awesome, Probably better than my last unit. I love doing a 10 min session on low and finishing it off later at level 4. It makes a little herb go a long way and keeps flavor tasty for a while.

Edit: A thought concerning the dimples, I always keep the stem a hair off the heater when in use anyway, so I'm curious how much the dimples help in that situation?

I ordered the purple haze one.

As @HSIHP and I indicated, the newer Airs do have the dimples my friend, it's not just on the new Solo 2.

I used to just raise the stem a bit, but with the Air it's so tight (giggity!) that it made very little difference IME. Then again, I noticed a somewhat different airflow with the Air, it felt better than my Solo in one way, but worse in another (due to the tight seal). Vapour was slightly more diluted with my Airs than the Solo.

I wonder if the new Solo's (1) will also get these newer style ovens with dimples, but my guess would be yes.

IIRC all Arizer portable vapes (Solo 1&2 and Air) have dimples.

If looking for a Solo 1 or Air, check with the retailer to confirm you have the newest model (with dimples)

I bought the PVHES stems from PV to help manage with airflow issue.

Please let us know what you think when you get to compare them bro, as the diehards since the beginning usually turn back to the stock stems for thicker, denser hits. The PVHES thins and dilutes the vapour too much IMO, and isn't as pleasant as an experience. I compare it to when I had my HerbalAire, it was an interesting beast, but waaaaaay too many hits to finish a bowl and irritated my airways too much.

The stems helped a lot and made it easier on my throat compared to the original ones, when the Purple Haze arrives I'll make the comparison. If the originals work well then I'll keep the PVHES for the Air.

Is there any truth to this? I would think gettings bits of herb in your mouth is worse than having a screen.

Metal screens are available for your convenience but they make vapor harsh and diminish the flavors. The Air Glass Aroma Tubes have a built-in glass screen to keep vapor pure and flavorful so we recommend using whole or coarsely ground botanicals with no metal screen for smooth and tasty vapor.

I never noticed any difference when I used a screen with my Air. I do use it through water 100% of the time though!

Sure couldn't prove it by me. IMO, based on experience, any possible taste is quickly masked once condensate covers the metal? Even 'very lightly fouled' is basically sealed until it's cleaned very well.

OTOH, that's exactly the sort of statement I'd expect from the guys in Marketing trying to 'protect' their 'all glass vapor path' advantage. That powerful sales tool disappears in a flash if they take the other stand......and it quickly becomes 'how come for $200 Arizer can't even include a few screens?'. Places like PV sell them specifically for this (in several mesh sizes no less) and places like PIU add them to the packages they ship.

That points, I think, to the best answer to your question (always a tough type to answer if so much subjective, opinion based, 'facts' are in play). For a dollar or so you can (and IMO should) try it and see for yourself?

Best wishes with your new unit, IMO it's a winner almost no matter how you use it. But I think only you can really answer that question to the satisfaction of the only guy who's opinion really matters......you.

Oh and one more question haha.

Would you recommend I grab it from PuffItUp and have them price match the $150 aromatek?

Or is there another vendor that is legit / has good prices?

@debaserrrrr , @OF said it so eloquently as usual, but i'm a little brash and to the point - Arizer's statement is complete bullshit. A tiny little SS screen will diminish flavour and make vapour harsh? Good one Arizer, perhaps revisit why you even used the ceramic coating in the first place way back in the day? Remember the entire "robot fart" ordeal? The SS bowl will affect flavour much more than I tiny little gauze in the stem.

Just my opinion ofcourse, but I would bet very good money if anyone could detect a difference between the two. Kinda like the Pepsi challenge?

Marketing.... as @OF mentioned.... and it kinda pisses me off really. I only use the screens, as I don't want shit going down into the stem making it disgusting. However, without grinding, you should be good to go - but I still think it's better with a screen.

Awesome example clear communication. Concise, clear non ambiguous.

Penned by an obvious master of this funny language we pinched off the Brits......

Is this a great Forum or what?

Gentle Friends,

I just got back from an "Air break" in the garden. A nice (shortened by domed screen) stem of Sunset Sherbet (for those taking notes). First rate job on that 1/8 gram (?), the backup stem in my pocket came back untouched. I put in a pleasant half hour supervising, but that was not really necessary I think. The roses are blooming (or starting to) with little help from me. Likewise the trees are leafing out and the weeds growing like.....well weeds. Other plants seem on track as well, now that the rains have finally come again. The drought was brutal. Water prices still are.

Those of you who missed it, missed it. It was great, I'll probably do it again sometime soon. Perhaps with another vape, but Air seems so natural in this role. It's already back in the rack with a fresh stem and enough battery for another go anytime the urge overcomes.

Regards and best wishes for a fine weekend to one and all.

Yep my air gets more use than the solo. Outdoors air is king.

I think overall I use Solo more than Air by a fair margin (at least twice as often?), but when it comes to heading for the garden for a session or two Air gets the nod more often.

Both do splendidly of course. A guy with either is well armed indeed. With both to call on you're at least 'twice blessed'.

Dependable performance. Won't get in the way of enjoying the day.........
