I got a couple PM's regarding miniVAP Flexicone modules for Herbie so will post here.
@Justpassedu had best page/pics I prev posted but to summarize and then paste:

I prefer the Flexicones as they allow easy addition of hemp filter which traps mini ABV particles from whip/glass MP, bubbler/your mouth and lungs. Flexicone allows separation of hemp filter from MJ/ABV. I tried with S & B capsules but hemp had to go into capsule with MJ so ABV got all tangled in hemp. Hemp keeps bubbler 10X cleaner with no tiny particles and reclaim is like honey, instead of honey loaded with a bunch of tiny ABV particles.

The SB capsules are fine and I'd use if they were the only option. I'd rate them B+ and Flexicone A+.
Flexi stay much cooler---after hitting, remove Ratchett/ Delta 3D silicone adapter and pull a breath which cools silicone cover right down vs S & B capsules stay hot.
Also, you can use Flex "straight up " on Herbie, direct into bottom chamber, no Herbie top chamber, hydra tube directly on Flexicone or glass MP direct on Flexi. Delta 3D silicone adapter just makes a more secure/tight connection.

Capsules are cheaper to try first.
Note that I have a new/unused Mighty for future use and I rigged up a Flexicone system for that vs the capsules. Without the Mighty/Crafty CU, the Flexi works in the chamber for direct action ;)

Plus, for me----I often start a load in the miniVAP at lower temps (with miniVAP Flexicone of course) and then switch Flexi over to Herbie (takes 2 seconds) for a 445 F complete extraction. So Flexi works in both

....................................................paste
Here's a pic of "two contenders" for optional use in Herbie:
S & B dosing capsule in the bottom chamber and miniVAP Flexicone module patiently waiting it's turn to provide vaping pleasure :)
Herbie%20w%20SB%20capsule.jpg

For me, the clear winner is the miniVAP Flexicone as it does not get as hot, it is much easier to load and unload, it stays shut (my dosing capsules seemed to sometimes be difficult to get open and sometimes they came open at the most inopportune times). For me, the Flexicones vastly improved by Herbie experience so no degradation. I can do microdoses very easily. The Herbie bottom chamber stays clean almost forever. The Herbie top chamber/screen (that seemed to need a lot of cleaning) never needs cleaning as that part is not used.
I can easily add a tiny degummed hemp filter to the Flexicone so all that micro ABV dust stays out of my mouth and water bubblers---the reclaim is 10X cleaner than stock Herbie reclaim. Bubbler reclaim is like pure honey instead of loaded with micro ABV particles.
Here's what Flexicone looks like, in pieces:
mV%20Flexi%20w%202%20screens.jpg

You could delete second tiny screen--I added to hemp from getting sucked up into Flexi narrows
.............................................................................

Herbie with Flexicone plus @Ratchett Herbie SONG (silicone adapter) is great with hydratube, with a hose connecting to bubbler, with a long glass mouthpiece direct on SONG, or just with a hose as Song provides a much more secure hose attachment than stock Herbie.
Herbie%20Songs%20HT.jpg

Once I experimented and found the Flexicone option, I never use the stock Herbie bowl. Note that I never was a fan of the stock Herbie bowl, I always thought there had to be a better setup.

Thanks for this detailed response. I have some questions.

Is the flavor and potency the same with both methods, or different?

I don't know how others create doses, but I've been loading Herbie's bowl about halfway. After I'm done toking, I'll leave the leftover herb for next time. Would the fact that the dosing caps stay hot destroy the leftover herb? Herbie's ceramic bowl saves at least some for the next session. I imagine the Flexicone system might be even better for not vaporizing excess herb.

For use with a SONG 2 adapter, do you stick the Flexicone into the adapter without Herbie's top?

If you're not using the top, is the amount of heating the same? I figured that if the ceramic top's on, the herb would be more encased in heat for the session. I want to extract all the vapor I can, and not waste anything. Does the Flexicone system completely cash the herb?

Would I want the medium or small baskets?

Are the MV O-Ring Filters basically the same as the MV Filter Discs, just more durable?

Where do you get the hemp filter and the small filter disc from? I understand the hemp filter prevents plant matter particles from flowing up the chain, but it doesn't trap any vapor, or is that negligible?

For use with a Crafty, would the Flexicone stay in the chamber just by being mindful to keep it in the Crafty's bowl, or something you've rigged up?

Thanks again!

---answers in red. I found the potency the same as either gets full extraction. Flavor: a tiny advantage to Flexi as SB Capsule adds a little conduction from hot metal touching herb, but I'd call it minimal difference.

I don't know how others create doses, but I've been loading Herbie's bowl about halfway. After I'm done toking, I'll leave the leftover herb for next time. Would the fact that the dosing caps stay hot destroy the leftover herb? Herbie's ceramic bowl saves at least some for the next session. ...Flexi is best for saving for another session IMO. To save, best method is to turn off Herbie and take a couple draws as that Flexi cools down quick. Capsules stay hotter but "work-around" is turn off and take more cooling inhales than with Flexi.
With Herbie stock bowl you can also "turn off/ take a couple inhales to cool down to make sure herb isn't being wasted.

For use with a SONG 2 adapter, do you stick the Flexicone into the adapter without Herbie's top?
... Yes, Flexi goes in Song 2 directly and snaps onto bottom chamber---no Herbie top half.
With Capsules, you'd use complete Herbie bowl and Song onto that.

If you're not using the top, is the amount of heating the same? I figured that if the ceramic top's on, the herb would be more encased in heat for the session. I want to extract all the vapor I can, and not waste anything. Does the Flexicone system completely cash the herb?
.... Heating is the same as either way as you are getting 445 F (for example) hot air blowing over the herb. Flexi silicone cap piece narrows down too, even more than Herbie top half of chamber so it is restricted. Flexicone system completely cashes the herb. For final 445 F extraction, I'll often use fan and let Herbie just finish the job....

Would I want the medium or small baskets?
....If you load Herbie's bowl halfway, I'd recommend the medium baskets! My Flexi load is probably equal 1/10 of Herbie chamber. The small are a little more difficult to hold/fill etc as the medium just give you a little more to hold on to.
And you can still microdose with medium.
??Mediums might be too deep for Mighty/Crafty chamber if that's at all an issue??

Are the MV O-Ring Filters basically the same as the MV Filter Discs, just more durable?
.... O-rings are just easier to handle with the smooth metal edge than bare metal edged screens. Probably more durable too

Where do you get the hemp filter and the small filter disc from? I understand the hemp filter prevents plant matter particles from flowing up the chain, but it doesn't trap any vapor, or is that negligible?
...small screen I put over the hemp is just cut down from larger generic screen. Degummed hemp fiber is hard to get. Best source seems to be DynaVap site. $5 for what would last a lifetime, or at least a looong time. They also have very small stainless CCD screens that I might try instead of hassle of cutting down big screens.
IMO, trapped vapor (the oils) is minimal as vapor condenses out on cold things MUCH more, like a bubbler's cold glass walls. Hemp is 1/4 inch from herbs so air is still hot hot hot. Plus, I try to craft very very thin/ minimal hemp filters that trap small particles but are very airy

For use with a Crafty, would the Flexicone stay in the chamber just by being mindful to keep it in the Crafty's bowl, or something you've rigged up?
...for Crafty use, you have to get crafty and rig up something ;)
like this setup from misc parts or connect a whip to it or set Flexi inverted in 14 mm female bubbler joint and invert Crafty over it, etc.
Mighty%20w%20FlexiBob.jpg

P.S. with either Flexi or Capsules, you never need to clean Herbie bowl, including that upper chamber screen which gets filthy fast. And both act as an extra layer of protection from herb bits falling down into Herbie, thru the lower screen.
Whew--I'm tired now

Thanks again!

Thanks brother, you're a good salesman. I think I'll go with the Flexicone system with the medium baskets, although the dosing caps may be preferable for "on the go" use with Miss Crafty.

just an fyi - this is how i do it. i use the balloon 99% of the time.

i use the little baskets that come with the extreme Q and 1/ 8 (about .05) and 1/4 teaspoon (about .1), sized teaspoons. i put the weed in the bowl, put the basket over the weed and the top screen stays clean. the top screen gets pretty sticky after 1/2 a day but the basket never seems to get clogged up with goo.

you can also put a basket in first, put in some weed, put a basket over it. i mostly vape .05 at a time. 20 to 24 bag fulls a day.

cheap and effective.

Thanks. I think I'd probably use the 2nd method. So you need to put a 2nd basket on as a lid? I'm guessing it wouldn't work with one of their filter screens on as a lid because they'd fall off?

I'm thinking of going with the Flexicone system, since the Flexicone would hold everything in place. Also, it would remove Herbie's lid from the chain, and the Flexicone parts should be a lot easier to clean.

The Flexicone setup is vastly more expensive though, but I'd like to do it right the first time.

Extreme Q baskets for Herbie:
@od1 , FYI, the Extreme Q baskets fit the miniVAP Flexicone covers :) You can make a full module with them: Flexicone top, screen to hold bud in, Extreme Q basket bottom. They do cost much less.

The "not so bad news" : they are not nearly as sturdy as the Hermes/ miniVAP baskets. When you are loading/unloading, they seem on the verge of crushing so you have to be mindful to take care.

You could try miniVAP Flexicones with miniVAP screens + EQ baskets to save some $$. But if you later want the miniVAP baskets, you have another shipping charge.

The EQ's seem a little smaller too, but that's not an issue except for folks that want a big load in Herbie

Hmm, thanks for the tip. I think if the Extreme Q baskets are that fragile, then I'll just go with the MiniVAP baskets. I can afford it, at least for now :p

Still have the original herbie and love it - it's been like 3+ I'm guessing...
bags are the best .. IMO ... I guess. With a solid valve and using the original volcano filing chamber (with yellow o ring to prevent melting) the bags full themselves and vapor is smooth and enjoyable and much cooler than direct hitting something ... vapors fricken hurt with no water filter... so bags for me always

I've posted several times in the past about using the solid valve either with the herbie filling chamber or volcano plunger type filling chamber ...I lost the info to that account :(

USE THE YELLOW ORING when using volcano plunger type filling chamber ... been using the o ring for many years with no problem at all ... sometimes I just hold it down too and use herbie original filling chmber

....I've had my herbie for 3 years...I can count the number of times I've used the bags on one hand...different strokes..lol...the herbie is a versatile technological marvel...
I gained a love for bags when I started to use my Herbie for concentrates. It's far more effective than using a whip for me.

That's interesting, I have a volcano and I'm not impressed with the way it handles concentrates at all. Works pretty well for bubble though. Been curious about the herbalizer for quite a while.

...if I want to use bags...with concentrates...I choose the volcano...the limited times I've used bags with herbie..it WAS concentrates...but... I found the volcano experience more pleasant....for me...however...bags...(imo) is NOT my preferred method for concentrate use...I do have....other options!.

after much investigation and experimentation, i've found that i prefer shatter over the other concentrates. and i prefer vaping a little bud with a little concentrate.

when i vape in my herbie, i can fill the bag twice with good vapor using shatter. all the other concentrates are gone after the first 90 seconds of pouring into the balloon.

i have used dabbing rigs and something called the hummingbird and i prefer using the herbie. and i don't cough my lungs out. win win! :)

i stopped using the herbie bags as soon as i ran out of the initial ones. solid valve all the way.

I did , i hope they actually come through and ship the bags. I don't mind the stock bags , i have a custom i made with a volcano that works nice but stock has treated me well also as long as you don't abuse them they stay put.

i've wondered how long the vapor would last in a bag. last night, i filled the volcano bag with .1 of bud and about 4 hours later i tried it and nada. not a bit of vapor.

i figured it would only last an hour or less but i keep reading stuff saying the vapor can stay vapor for hours.

it's bullshit! next time i remember to do it, i'll keep the bag full for an hour and see if there is anything left. it's the remembering part that's the problem. :)

my elec went out yesterday. i almost had to roll a joint! :cuss:
