Alfa Vaporizer by goboof

Strange but it looks like they tuned the units hotter cause mine (one of the first batch) is really smooth on low, more cloudy but still tolerable on med and I'm using high only with water filtration. Maybe it's not specific to your unit since you are not alone to report this issue...

What is your favourite vaporisation temperature? (I ask cause if you are an ultralow temp addict it might be the issue since the low setting is 190°C if I remenber well...)

My problem is not the Vapor, which is very hot. My problem is that the mouthpiece is too close to the top of the vape and that gets VERY hot.

I had sent several IM's to @Ratchett asking about a longer MP, but no luck yet.

Anyone else out there with a 3D printing business? Here is your chance to break into the FC market.

Thanks @sickmanfraud !

And @PPN , I do prefer a temp in the 365F to 385F range so it may be that many vaporizers are not going to work for me unless I mod them for temp/taste. For instance, my Flowermate V5 os and Boundless CF are both entirely too hot for my tastes pretty much right off the bat, and the CF in particular seems to maintain sort of a "diesel fuel" taste, even after many 'burn offs", which is annoying to say the least. I'll try some more "vapor conditioning" before I render a final verdict but at this point I'm not inclined to recommend any of these three vapes to folks who prefer lower temp and smoother flavor.

IIRC the orbiter has all of the connections necessary to make it work with a MFLB or other vape that you can hook it to.

The hole in the middle of the ALFA mouthpiece fits the Orbiter whip or other MFLB mouthpieces.

FYI there are less expensive ways to condition Alfa vapor to make it more tolerable.

I was merely trying to answer his question and let him know that he didn't need extra hardware. I myself don't run my Alfas through water. I've never had a problem with temp. Not sure if the newer ones run hotter, but the two I have (both about 2 1/2 years old) have always been great for me just the way they are. Love the Alfa!

I seem to have a bad case of VAS
From personal experience, having a sensitive throat and lungs, I could only use the alfa on the low and medium settings. If I wanted to use it on medium for more than a couple hits, it needed to be through water. I found that the mouthpiece will form a seal on a 14mm male connection. Finding cheap rigs that work was easier after that.

hey fellows,
just uploaded 2 pics of my Alfa with a Plenty mpc and with the whole aluminium tube:

using just the mpc (first pic) fits just perfectly. it cools the vapor and i think i would be suitable for some sensitive throats (which i'm not).
using the whole alu tube probably needs a little holding on it... it's nice but i never use it that way, kinda just for fun. :)

i actually (almost) always use the Alfa the classic way (sometimes with a bubbler), it's not irritating at all to me and i think both these methods dilute/lessen the taste... taste is the thing i love the most with this little vapo.
anyways i thought this might've been usefull to some. ;)

cheers!

It was nice to see the company saved, and that $99 sale was very attractive at xmas, nearly bought one myself!

After finding this statement elsewhere first:
In the near future we shall be introducing new features on the alfa for oil compatability and bespoke temperature settings as weil as a new innovative material for the mouthpeice.

What I wondered was, does the innovation in the new mouthpiece material mainly focus on a cooler MP for the lips? And, would the new mouthpiece have fitted all the current models had I bought one of those at xmas?
If the statement had been slightly clearer about that I might have bought one then.
For example, the new temperature settings are probably not for the current models, so it's hard to tell what is.

I agree...had the same experience...found that without vapor filtration the taste and temp were intolerable.

After decades of smoking this thing was pure bliss to me, no matter what the temperature of the vapor coming out of it was.
The key to enjoying this vape is looking at it as specifically for casual sipping. so if youre into that, its an excellent vape and it gets me as baked as I could ever want. And it should be mandatory to do a glass MP mod to avoid hot lips and create a longer vapor path. Once you do that its great. On the mid setting I only take 3-4 second sips, but more of them, and sessioning like this is IMO what sessioning is all about. It really is cool blowing such big clouds after drawing for such a short time (gotta grind fine and pack tight to make this happen). Drawing longer than 5 seconds is pointless. I never rip this vape anymore, thats how you introduce too much heat to your throat. The longer I go without smoking, the more nuances I pick up on with differences in vapor, and nowadays ripping the Alfa bothers me when it never used to. But with a glass stem MP mod and organic cotton filter in the MP I would never get tired of using this as a session sipper if its all I had. This was my daily driver for 5 months straight after doing those mods.
Then VAS hit me.

And the official site www.alfagoboof.com has the black model at $99 or €94 again!

I might send them an email to get more details on this coming revised mouthpiece design.
Nice to see vape discounts for st. Patrick's day, it will confuse potential 4/20 customers!

Well, as I had indicated in an earlier post, I have found the taste and temp to be unacceptable with the Alfa. However, after making some mods to the MP, i.e., MFLB stem inserted to stock MP, 3D Delta universal WPA over the stem and then a tiny $6 Chinese bubbler on top of that. Now it's just okay in terms of taste and temp. Three years ago this unit could command $200 but no longer. It can't compete at that price point given the evolution of the vaping market. Certainly explains the 50% drop in price for this vape!

Will we one day soon see every vape having built-in and precise temp control along with a sufficient cooling system such that a WPA will no longer be necessary?

I guess time will tell.

If the taste is truly unacceptable then you have a faulty unit. Mine is great on low, good on medium and I and many others have never had a problem with it. Ive used a Volcano so I know what the measuring stick is for good taste. Hot/harsh vapor and mouthpiece were always the primary gripes w/ the Alfa, apparently more with the late models.

Just received a 1 foot MFLB whip to use with my Alfa.

Since my complaint that stopped me using the ALFA was the heat from the unit top; my issue is solved for a very few dollars (given a choice I would probably prefer a 1.5 or 2 foot whip).

Obviously using a whip kind of defeats the stealth aspect, but at least I can use the vape again.

Yep, same conclusion here. And, given the Alfa is so small it can easily be used "hamster" style e.g., with a J-hook.

Guys, how is the airflow of the Alfa? I am looking for a restricted airflow conduction vape with fast heat up that I can do mouthpulls with it like with the Vapcap...

You should find the Alfa well suited for use similar to the Vapcap. It works very well with mouth pull method.
Nice! :D I have found mouth-pulls to be much much smoother than lung-pulls for the throat. More than one dry load in a convection vape these days and my throat suffers... And you can't do mouth-pulls with convection vapes so far! :p
So which other vape would you compare the Alpha's draw restriction with except Vapcap? The old Solo maybe? Or the OG Pax?

The OG pax has to be the toughest draw that I have found. Definitely think the draw resistance of the original Solo is quite comparable. Being a convection snob, I still find the Alfa to be the one conduction vape that works well on all fronts. Its stealthy, fast heat up, taste is decent for conduction, and it will last all day and then some with a full charge. Mine does not see much use, however, it is the go to for concert venues and small club performances. Tightly packed with flower/extract sandwich will provide an evening of entertainment.

@natural farmer the Alfa has what I would call medium draw resistance. Its got a similar draw to my Vapcap with my finger off the carb hole. I also have a Linx Gaia that has more resistance than the Alfa but theyre pretty close. You can increase the draw resiatance of most vapes by adding some degummed hemp fiber or organic cotton to somewhere in the airpath. I do this on all my vapes to upgrade the vapor quality.
If you want to do mouthpulls which I do sometimes when taking short draws, the Alfa is the best choice. My Gaia requires longer draws to get good clouds so I dont usually mouth pull with it.

Hi guys and girls

I just wanted to share some of my experience with Alfa (old and new).
My first Alfa, the one I bought in December 2015 worked great, it
had fast heat up time, great taste on low and huge clouds on medium and high.
It was a real sipper, small tokes, dense clouds. The body itself never really
got hot, even on high settings for a longer period of time, but mouthpiece did,
and that really bothered me (had to adjust my lips so it wouldn't be too uncomfortable).
For me, Alfa is a perfect size, has a great finish, feels great in hand and it's
really stealthy.

Unfortunately, after a year, the heater malfunctioned and I had to return it.
Never had luck with Gooboof because they were in the process of buyout,
but Namastevapes step up and took care of me directly (great CS and big thanks to them).

The first thing I noticed about the new Alfa is the weight (noticeable heavier than the old),
the body is from one piece and they added some sort of rubber (really can't define material)
inside the hole where you attach the mouthpiece. The new Alfa gets really, really hot during the ten-minute
session (almost unberable), butt supraisingly mouthpiece doesnt at all
(maybe becouse of that addedd piece). Also, the new Alfa takes much longer to heat up and
sometimes shuts off on its on.

All in all, I love the Alfa and I think that it doesnt get the attention it deserves.

Anyone have any idea what battery is inside the Alfa? I'm wondering if a bigger mah battery can be installed. . .

Had my Alfa since 2015 - absolutely love it for it's design and good vapour production whether full or partially packed. The only issue is that I've never had more than about 3 x 20min sessions on one charge.

Your battery sounds normal. But you should probably stop running it empty every time and leaving the unit on for that long. Subjecting it to that much heat and drainage is a great way to shorten the long-term service life of the battery. Most of these tiny portables w/ proprietary batteries from a few years back will be spent after roughly an hour of total use. I think you can use the Alfa while it's charging. But really, if you need to have 20 minute long sessions you're much better off with a plug-in/home vape.

I believe the battery is proprietary so you're out of luck there. My casing has a weird 3-prong version of a tiny Philips head so I wouldn't be able to open it anyway here in the US and even if I could it would void whats left of the warranty. I estimate that 60 total minutes is also what mine gets on 1 charge. My sessions are only 5 mins long so I can get something like 6-8 sessions in before needing to recharge. No complaints there. To be safe I charge it sooner even though I don't need to because charging early and often prolongs the service life of the battery.

I just noticed the Alfa is on sale for $89 at Puffitup. It comes to about $75 with another discount. Considering it's probably a later model, Should I buy it? Worth it?

I happen to like my Alfa, but the top gets VERY hot. If you are not sensitive to heat or want to use this through water it is a good choice. The MFLB wands and whips fit the Alfa nicely.
