Picture can't be seen but I can def. see this causing inconsistency...

GAH! I seem incapable of posting images on forums.

Lemmie try again...

I should point out, that there do seem to be impressions on both sides. That is from me redistributing the magnets as a test, prior to taking this picture, where I put them back in their original spot.

It looks like there should be 4 magnets, not 2.

Hey everyone. So I have a tiny bit of flower left but a decent amount of kief out of my grinder. Should I use the concentrate pad and just put the kief on top? Would packing it on top of the flower be a better option? I tried searching but so many posts come up and I'm not having any luck.
Thanks.

If there's enough flower to cover the restrictor plate you really don't need the pad. Just don't put really fine kief directly on the plate as it could clog the holes. (If kief is all you have, I would put it on the pad directly, then give it a good pack down, so it doesn't fly around too much.)

Well, so far my experience with FF2 is a total flop.

Firstly, the reliably inept employees lost my package for 4 days. It was finally found today.

I unboxed the device, put it on the charger, and installed the app on my phone.

When the charge was complete, I launched the app and connected to the device - no problem.

I was prompted to update the firmware, so I followed the steps to do so. A message displayed indicating the update was successful, and was reconnecting the device.

Now the device is totally bricked, in "OTA" mode I think. Solid blue light on the device, device not responding to buttons. Pulling the battery multiple times does nothing. Device not able to connect to app. Device is visible to my Bluetooth as FF2_OTA.

EDIT: The device is not visibly at all to either my iPad or laptop via BT.

I have deleted the app from my phone, restarted the phone and re-installed the app, all to enjoy no change in the status of this problem.

Wow... what a great experience so far. I'm on hold with FF customer service, but if anyone knows a way to force the device out of OTA mode, I'm all ears. I'm not happy... haven't even tried the unit and its factory app has bricked it.

EDIT: After over 30 minutes on hold with FF, I still haven't spoken to a human.

I'm out.

FF CS called me back and confirmed that when this occurs, there is no solution. They suggested I send it back to them.

The retailer I bought it from is going to RMA it and refund the purchase price. I've ordered a replacement from them with express shipping. I doubt I'll get it before the long weekend, so my ex is lending me the Arizer Air I gave her in the mean time.

I'm still sold on the FF2 as a top shelf device, but what a big fat drag that the one I got bricked in the first 5 minutes.

Should I not upgrade the firmware on the replacement unit I ordered? Or should I try the upgrade/app interface from a different device? I used my phone this time - Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge. I could try with my iPad next time?

I've only found a few posts about this problem on Reddit, here, elsewhere....

Sorry to hear about that issue...I personally have only used ios devices to interact with the FF, so maybe using your ipad isn't a bad idea.

I don't think this bricking issue is particularly prevalent...I think I've read of two other cases. (Anecdotal to be sure, but it doesn't seem to be a widespread issue.) Good luck with your replacement!

If there is a capacitor u might need to leave the battery out for 12 hours(guess) for a total reset but by that time CS should have talked to u.

@WarpaintFree - I had a customer who's FF2 was bricked by updating from an iPhone 7+ when it first came out and it was something Firefly fixed. I've been using mine with my 7+ now without issue. I wouldn't do an update from your phone until FF says they have fixed the issue with that particular phone. If you know someone who has a different phone who doesn't mind installing the app and updating it for you, I think that would be prudent. I think you will be fine controlling the vape from your phone, just not updating the firmware from it.

Thanks. When my replacement shows up, I'm going to use the app interface on an older iPad running iOS 9.something. Perhaps the problem is in the FF2 app on Android 7... that version only released for my phone in Canada a few weeks ago, and it's a mess, TBH.

Just got my FF2 last night. No problems getting nice hits on medium straight out of the gate, but I think it's due to my experience with the SSV which has a similar technique.

Couple of questions though:

1. Is there a good way to use less material, and not pack the bowl to full? I think I saw someone said they put a little herb down and then the concentrate pad on top. Does this help?

2. Is there a way to avoid stirring, say by tamping down a half bowl and then just shaking the unit? I guess stirring isn't a huge deal, but it sort of ruins the "seamless" experience in my view.

3. Are most people starting on medium-low and then working their way up the temps? Med-Low, Med, Med-High, High? If so, how many solid hits per full bowl would you say you get?

Thanks!

I purchased some ceramic screens from Vaporbrothers (sku 8014), put in a smaller amount of material and put the screen on top. Don't have to stir nearly as often or at all this way, and you use less material.

I start on medium low and work my way up. With the ceramic screen, I'd say I get 6-ish hits. More without the screen and bowl full.

Hey all, I've had my FF2 for about a year now and I noticed yesterday that one of my batteries now has noticeably diminished capacity.

By lucky coincidence the store is having a 2 for the price of 1 battery sale which came out to about $40 with shipping and tax. Now might be a good time for fellow early adopters to restock. Cheers.

It's a pretty effective way to use less material. I do it often....it also adds a little heat to the bowl, so keep that in mind. (I find it pretty helpful, actually.)

What is the best concentrates to use in the Firefly2? Me and a buddy are heading to Denver in a few weeks for the first time and I'd appreciate some suggestions. I've only used wax or shatter one time while I was in Portland. It was pretty easy, except I think I put to much in at one time. It was a little difficult to clean the holes in the plate even after using the pads.

Also, any suggestions as to the best brands to use, best shops to visit downtown? I'm staying at the Residense Inn on Champa St, hoping that their not using sniffers on our room after we leave. Neither of us use combust, and my buddy only uses a oil pen.

I'm going to post this in the ask question section too, hope that's within the guidelines of the site.

I've never tried using runny stuff that comes in a syringe in mine but get great results with all the other types. Don't get greedy and overload, you can always add more as you need.

In Denver I like a few choices. Good Chemistry on colfax is a must stop for me. Mostly for herb but they have well priced concentrates too. I got some Kong pho that was really nice there and they had Pink Kush terp jelly. Very nice, wish I had more.

Botanico has good stuff and they have good deals if you go at the right time. Check on it but I believe the sale prices were best right when they open. Native Roots has a decent selection as well and if you sign up with them online you get a nice discount code.

Check out L'Eagle as well. Their herbage is mucho primo if a bit pricey. I got some Strawberry Cough shatter from them last time that rocked. If you go, buy something small from them once and they will give out a 10% discount coupon you can use the next visit if you decide to go big on the second visit.

Green Dragon is cheap as hell, sometimes good. Can always decarb it and make edibles from it if you don't like it. Check out the Westword free magazine for ads and such.

Hi there!

1. Never tried that but you can just take a hit or two and just set it down for a while. No harm done. Just make sure to give the bowl a quick clean once you're done.

2. Get used to stirring after EACH hit for the absolute best results. Medium/course grind or hand tear your material.

3. This is how I use mine (with excellent quality)...

1. Med-low +2 (Great flavor)
2. Med-low +5 (She's warming up)
3. Med-low +8 (Amazing hit)
4. Med-low +11 (milky)
5. Medium +5
6. Medium +8
7. Medium +11
8. High even to finish

Enjoy!

Thanks for you post! So you skip Medium-high entirely? I have been getting solid hits on low and medium-low and I m happy about that.

I had read that batteries can die quickly, but I get through about two bowls before it's kicked. Is that normal? It's brand new!
