For all of the direct loaders out there, how full are you filling it? Filling it up completely is a pretty large bowl. I tried direct load twice with half loads and got disappointing results, so I haven't tried since.

1/2 to 3/4 full. Large basket on flexicone to act as chamber reducer and screen. Hook the flexicone to a 3 foot silicone tube then bubbler. Ahhhh Spain!

i use different amounts but half to 3 quarters..and i put flexicone and rimmed screen on top of load and i use a whip with my wpa..so that my load isnt inverted..when u invert it the load is farteher away from heater and not in a uniform pack..its kinda just everywhere inside of their..

For those of you willing to try the direct loading method, let me know if you find it smoother with the included mouthpiece. With a basket pack I prefer the adapter I used to sell, but with a direct path I have found that I don't need the extra cooling. What do you guys think?

Almost there...
Tried the direct load using the small basket and flexicone to keep the load slightly compressed.

WOW!!! Instant clouds on green and super thick vapor!!
The QC can be a beast at times or a quiet sipper!!

I think the basket to keep the load stationary is the important part here!
I used a WT for this test and was blown away!

I might be dreaming this but try the big basket as a screen. Does the extra metal mesh act as the conduction ring? Maybe it's me but I think it makes the chamber a tad hotter and adds more surface area for more vapor to pass through yielding bigger clouds?:shrug:Try it, see if I'm nutz:D

So a full chamber and then compress with the large basket?
That sounds like an afternoon experiment with a possible video!!!

I've had enough time to test my glass quick core that I picked up during the Chinese New Year sale to share some thoughts.

The faster heat up time and better battery life for the quick core is fantastic. Those few minutes faster make a huge difference to me.

I agree with others that the flavor of the glass core is not as good as the teflon core at the same temperature setting, but the glass core flavor is still better than most vapes out there. The faster extraction with the glass is worth some flavor trade off for me.

I do find that I only use the glass core in red, lower temperatures just don't give me satisfying vapor with the glass core. For my teflon core, I generally start with green and finish at red.

I do believe the glass and teflon cores result in different vape signatures with noticeable difference in effect at the same temperature setting.

Thanks to the recent advice from this thread, I did get some good direct load bowls. IMO, direct load does give bigger clouds clouds and flavor is not impacted much, but those are just really big bowls. I personally will only direct load when I'm looking to get really blasted or want to share with others.

I'm glad I have the variety of both teflon and glass cores now for differences in extraction speed and vape signature. The quick core makes my last generation teflon core feel way too slow now, though.

Me too!

One thing is bothering me.... I always notice a weird taste for the first pull, it is completly disappeared after 2 or 3 pulls.... exactly the same with both units (teflon core and quick glass core) and a taste I never scent in another device.... I already posted a few here about that without any reply/feedback, this taste was present from the first session to the last i made but only for 2 hits after that all the terpènes comes and the true MV session starts! Anybody experienced this yet?

edit: my units are rather clean...

The taste profile changes quite a bit from beginning to end, and not just a simple shift from fresh to AVB. I personally find the terps diminish quite a bit after the first 2-3 hits. Can you compare the "weird" flavor to anything else?

That's difficult but I think the taste comes from the cold or not warm enough heater, slightly metallic. I can feel while drawing on my cold&empty units.
I got a similar issue in the past with my Cloud+, the first habitually tasty hits was awful .... until I realized I was cooking a lot of dust in the bamboo (to fix that I added a cotton filter on the bottom and closed the GonG while unusued, no more bad taste issues!)

The taste is different, not so awful, not chemical and doesn't taste like caked resin. I can smell it on my opened unit, it's slightly acid & metallic...

Very surprised nobody can smell/taste it since I get exactly the same little issue with both units , my teflon core is +2 years old and my quick glass core was bought some months ago. I'm vaping only weed and I add rarely a bit of kief/shatter on the bowl. I use baskets 99.9% of the time but tried some direct load too recently.
To be honnest that's not a deal breaker for me cause, as mentionned before, this bad taste disappear in the same time the terpènes rush comes. So it doesn't really impact the session!

@PPN I wonder if you're more sensitive to that particular taste than most, since you've experienced it on several vapes. I have not noticed any flavors from the MV in that realm.
