Zirconia Spacers or Zirconia loading capsules is the future :science:
I was told by Davinci support via email that they would be in tomorrow.

IMO the 2 biggest issues I have with the IQ are the unloading of the oven and cleaning of the device. Unloading is annoying, leads to burnt fingers, and it's difficult to clear the whole oven without special tools.

I take there cleaning brush and wrap a alcohol swab around the end of it stick it in the oven with a few quick twists does a pretty good job.

The pure taste is exceptional. The flavor persists throughout the load.

Yes! How many portable vapes can make the claim? This is where it wins.

However, recently I noticed that if I place the unit down on a table, it sort of shuts off.

Join the club. This is happening to several people including myself. I'm supposed to send it back.

  • Unloading and Reloading:
Usually my biggest issue with spacers is when I go to reload where do I put this molten piece of glass and how do I move it in order to reload my oven.

If I wait until the oven is cool before reloading it is harder to clear and makes the oven dirty.
If I reload the oven while it's hot then I burn my hands and I have nowhere to put this spacer.
This is especially an issue when I'm on the go.

I've been all over Davinci about this, since the Ascent days. It's simply a pita to dump/reload. Everything you said is true. This is where S&B kicks their ass. I've given my capsule suggestion many times; Davinci clicks 'like" but no word on anything.

My fix for this issue was that I bought one of those little 3x3 silicon wax dishes. perfect for those little hot items.

I stopped using the app, I found it useless so I set a temp and gradually increase until I'm fully baked and shut off the unit.

Are there any features you would like to see us add that would make the app more useful to you?

Lucky , mine was purchased direct from davinci , I just mailed it back and was told 2-3weeks it can take from the day it gets there.I really hope @Davinci_vaporizer can hook it up and get me a new unit out so I am up and running .

We'll do everything we can to make sure you have a great working vape in your hands ASAP!

I don't know, some of the vendors honor warranty's. I have never had a problem with anything I've ordered from PuffitUp. I've even returned one of my vapes before. They let me return it before returning the old one. They have always treated me good and have always given me good prices.

A lot of our distributors handle warranties for our products that are purchased through them. PuffitUp, VapeWorld, Got Vape, Vapornation, West Coast Gifts, and POV are all great distributors that provide great service.

So I thought I was being pretty good about cleaning out my chamber the other day until I shinned a light down inside the chamber and seen all the resin build up. It was actually covering up some of the holes at the bottom of the chamber. So I got out the old ISO and the Q-Tips took everything apart and started cleaning. The bowl was the worse. Kind of surprised me since I was cleaning with ISO once a week anyways. So I decided to go down to Walmart and by a pak of a 100 1" ISO pads cheep 2 bucks now every time I empty my bowl I put a ISO wipe on the end of the cleaning brush and just give it a quick turn in the bowl, even after one use you'd be surprised as to how much crap it takes out. Overkill? Maybe, but I know one thing, my weekly cleanings will be a hell of a lot easier and each session will be much smoother, just my 2¢.

Be careful when you are cleaning the IQ after a session. If the bowl is too warm the plastic bristles of the cleaning brush can melt onto the bowl. Wrapping the ISO wipe around the brush is a great idea though.

So speaking of weird crap, and it might be normal. Try to explain anyone experience strange problems using the unit while plugged into the charger. I swear it does weird shit like when I first turn it on, it will power up for like 3 seconds then totally turn off. Hit the button 5 times starts right up no problem. And it just doesn't turn off when it does it, it goes completely black like it's not even plugged in anymore. Didn't want to complain about with others having much more serious issues I can live with something like that, it's just weird.

Hey man can you send me DM and describe this a little bit more? Sounds kind of odd.

I purchased the HoneyBird combo a few weeks back. The threaded 10mm adapter is showing a hairline fracture. Does anyone know where I can find a replacement 10mm adapter ?

We will have more on our website by the end of the week.

These are off the current topic, but:

1) I've been waiting for aromatherapy products to come back for months now, what gives? http://www.davincivaporizer.com/aromatherapy/

2) Now I also see that the new glass spacers are already sold out? When can we a new batch?

3) A silicon casing is long over-due. Is there any progress updates that can be provided?

Thanks!

1) Been out of stock for a while, just got the herbs back in stock now waiting on the containers that they are packaged in for shipping. Should be back on the site soon.

2) New batch of spacers will be up on the site by the end of the week.

3) Working on the best possible solution for a external casing that meets our brand standard. When its ready and perfect it'll be out.

don't think these accessories are a big priority with Davinci. I sent them an email inquiry about when the 10-14mm adapters will be restocked and if there are plans for the 3 piece grinders 2 weeks ago and that was the end of that. Was interested in the grinder but they didn't reply on if SCS's warranty applies on Davinci grinders.

Sorry that we missed your e-mail but that is definitely not the case we are always looking to add more accessories and products to our line especially if they are things that you want to see. Currently we are only providing the Medium 4 and 2 piece grinders from SCS. We have may consider other models of their grinders in the future but there are no discussions on that front at the moment as we are very happy with the current grinders we provide.

As for the warranty. Yes the lifetime warranty for these grinders is available either through us or Santa Cruz Shredder directly.

Hey DaVinci!

I purchased one of your Vaporizers (ordered a blue but got a stealth). I did try it and was so happy with it, I decided not to bother returning it. Everything worked great (except the overheating at times, but I can live with it). However, recently I noticed that if I place the unit down on a table, it sort of shuts off. Like without the vibration, it just goes off. I can start it after that and continue using it but was wondering if this is normal.

Return is not going to be easy as I live overseas. Other than that issue everything works great. Is this going to get worse?

Thanks in advance

That is not normal. It sounds as though the spring in the bottom of your battery chamber has lost some of it's tension. You can continue using it. It will not effect the overall performance of the vape. However it could become more sensitive over time and you may need a replacement in the long run.

@Davinci_vaporizer

Zirconia Spacers or Zirconia loading capsules is the future :science:

The perfect spacer needs to be unbreakable, flavorless, and easy to load and unload.

IMO the 2 biggest issues I have with the IQ are the unloading of the oven and cleaning of the device. Unloading is annoying, leads to burnt fingers, and it's difficult to clear the whole oven without special tools.

This is especially an issue when I'm on the go.

  • Cleaning:
Cleaning is rather difficult as I prefer to be quite meticulous with my cleanings. Cleaning the oven itself isn't bad, but cleaning the rest of the vaporizer becomes annoying and time intensive.

The flavor chamber and mouthpiece soaking is OK, but even that takes some time.

Cleaning the area behind the oven is doable, but definitely a very lengthy proposition.

Then after cleaning I let the iso evaporate and then do a couple burnoffs, it comes out good as new but i definitely don't enjoy cleaning and I'd say it takes too long to clean for me if this was my only vaporizer.

Other than those 2 things though, there's not much else that I dislike about the IQ. The heater is quite powerful and still delivers good flavor; the heater does have room for improvement though, when compared to the other components of the vaporizer.

The metal case, zirconia parts, and replaceable batteries are my favorite parts of the IQ by far. :)

Great feedback! Love to hear it and it helps us improve soo much! If you ever have ideas for accessories products or improvements don't hesitate to let us know!

My partner ordered me an IQ last week, and I'm excited to receive it in the next few days.

I've been reading the past number of pages concerning the issues with some units. I hope get lucky and get a well-functioning unit.

Right now, I'm using an Air as my portable, so I'm excited to see the differences.
The Davinci IQs are fine....I bought one a month or two ago...it works absolutely perfect ....zero problems...and it seems to be getting even better....any forum generally has the problems being aired....but remember..there are so many more happy people that say nothing......I love my Davinci IQ....I'm almost about to like it as much as my Mighty......anyway...enjoy it...I'm sure you will...in a short period of time you will find the sweet spot with the IQ.

Can I extend the spring manually? Like with tweezers? I heard someone did that and it worked fine afterwards. I hope it doesn't void the warranty. I may be coming back into America soon, so will probably do a return then if this doesn't work. I tried logging a ticket about the wrong colour on your website but it got closed due to inactivity. Tim was the customer service rep. No need to reopen it, I'm happy with the one I have. Just a little concerned about the spring. Will keep you posted about that if it becomes a problem in future.

For anybody looking for a tested battery solution, I have been running the above batteries and charger with the red wrapped DaVinci stock battery in rotation as well since the 3rd week in January. Zero issues.

I leave charger plugged in and pop a battery or two or four in when needed. I have charged via the IQ USB port as well, but only when necessary. Very happy with this setup.

I also carry a paper clip and large headed nail with me at all times. Both make unloading and reloading much easier. I also use an alcohol wipe to clean mouth piece, pearl, oven lid and surface, and then push it into oven with nail head (obviously being gentle). Then I blow gently thru mouth piece. Then I shove a soft cloth (baby burp rag) in oven with nail head to dry it.

I have quit grinding and now just push full buds in and break it up a little with paper clip. And lightly tamp with nail head - just enuf to keep it from falling out. Burn this on smarthpath 2. When content, shut off, stir lightly with paper clip, and put just enuf avb in to level oven off. I usually save this for later and burn it on sp3 and 4 if I run low on cloud.

Took me some time to hone this in, but WOW! I'm a very happy customer. I've had fairly good CS experiences, but compared to PAX it's a little slow at times - not always tho. It's been pretty good the last 3 times I've called or emailed.

I just felt I should throw this out there as a thank you to all of you who post regularly.

Peese!!!

That is not a permanent fix but it is something you can try if you feel comfortable doing it. You also run the rix of breaking the piece completely. If you are going to be traveling into the states soon and that is easier for you I would recommend sending it in for repair/replacement.

Well knock on wood, but when this problem was happening I had also sent an email to Davinci support because I was also having a issue with my smartpaths constantly being reset. It was a weird problem because it would only happen after a session and you powered down the device. Mysteriously both issues just stopped happening. I'm not complaining, but would really like to know what was going on since I really didn't do anything. I have a bunch of batteries, so when the device gets low I just swap it out so maybe it did some sort of reset or something.

Well it's Wednesday, the glass spacers were supposed to be in today, no dice.

I think you might have read my post wrong Vaporcussion. I absolutely LOVE this IQ. I tried and failed several times to quit combusting with my PAX 1 - which I've had for 4 years, and I kept reverting back to my glass bowl. I haven't even taken my bowl back out of it's case since I received my IQ. The paper clip, nail, iso pads, and spare battery all fit into the very small rectangular ziplock plastic container that I transport in. I'm a huge fan of the IQ. I was debating buying this or the Mighty and it really boiled down to price for me. I'm confident I made the right decision. Even since the purchase I've weighed the thought of picking a Mighty up just to compare, and I've also considered buying extra parts for the IQ (spare flavor chamber, mouth pieces, ect.) but have consistently come to the conclusion that I have everything I need. Every time I use the IQ I realize how versatile it is. Now (on trips) I carry my PAX1 as a backup just in case. But the IQ is my roll-dogg. As long as the 10 yr warranty holds up, this was the best 275 bones I've spent in a coons age.

I was also considering the Mighty as a second vape but ended up rather getting a second IQ. As a "heavy" user, the combo serves my needs brilliantly without putting too much strain on each unit. I like this multi packing tool with the spoon, tamper and pick. They are sold as "czech smoking tobacco pipe cleaning tool" , works like a charm and are dirt cheap from any Tobacconist. The tamper part is too big to fit into the oven but works great when loading and compressing flower into your carry case. I use the spoon part to load and it works perfectly. They are stainless steel are with a brass ferrule.

The Davinci carry cases are GREAT. They are cleverly thoughtout and well designed with space for flower, 3 extra batteries and with "a smell proof zipper" you can operate incognito!

I have had good feedback and advice from the Davinci moderator on this page and my local vape shop that sold me my first IQ. When reporting my IQ issue with my local vape shop, they asked me to pop in and checked my unit and replaced it, with a new stealth unit, within 15 minutes. I live in Cape Town, South Africa and the after sales service has been just great both locally and internationally with both parties offering to replace my unit.

My issue was that my battery indicator light stayed on and flashing even whilst my unit was not plugged into any power source. It happened after I used it on boost mode whilst connected. I ran the unit very hot and i fear I "fried" something. I do not use my new IQ's via a power supply, I religiously ONLY recharge via my external battery charger. I do this by choice and have no proof that this helps but it gives me great peace of mind!
I find that the new IQ units run a lot cooler than my original IQ. I had to make a special leather cover for that unit but with the new ones I do not need it. Granted, I have 2 units now so the heat will not get that intense.

I ❤ my IQ!
Blessings!

Thanks for the detailed write up, I really enjoyed reading your pov. It definitely is the photo but I'm seeing the 2 cases being different sizes? For some reason the case with the exposed IQ looks longer. Great setup, looks like you got everything you need with plenty of backup.

It hasn't done it for almost a week now, thought the problem went away but started doing it again today. purchased the unit via Puffitup, not going to mess with it anymore, going to send them a email right now and get a RMA for another device. Got a pretty good video on the problem, actually a real good video.

Also I had to put this one in because I'll get my balls busted, so being a little on the older side than most of you probably are and my eye site isn't what it used to be. During cleaning I know there is some sort of gasket at the bottom of chamber were the flavor chamber goes. Given some of the problems that community is having I' really reluctant at trying to pull this thing out for cleaning. My workaround has just been taking a Q-Tip with ISO and doing a few twisties. Do that a few times with a few Q-Tips and it really does a good job. But I'm just curious if whatever this gasket is, is it removable? If so what's the chance of damage?

You know I get it when companies do customers favors every now and then to keep their customers happy, makes for good customer relations. Example Last year I purchased a Focus vape from PUFFITUP, thing crapped out about 2 weeks after I had it. Had a good relationship with one of the guys over there sent me a new right away without me even sending in the old one, NOW THAT'S CUSTOMER SERVICE. And when a place does that, that's what keeps you coming back. So when I go back to them and expect the same with my IQ, I'm basically told to go pound sand. Guess I'm looking for another supplier.

I did a thorough cleaning today (wow, what a difference in air flow that makes). As I was cleaning I thought I should share another tip I think makes a difference. I also use a sewing needle to poke through the holes in the top of the flavor chamber lid and the ones in the bottom of the oven. The ones in the oven I am very careful about so I don't poke the rubber gasket on the other side. It is possible to clean all of the holes and make the needle go through the center of the gasket so as not to poke it, you just have to go easy and pay attention to what you are doing. I always do this after hitting both sides of the oven with several ISO soaked q-tips and after the lid has soaked in ISO. It always cleans out a bunch more stuff. Then I hit the oven with a couple more ISO q-tips and one dry one at the end to soak everything up.

Not sure if anybody else has tried anything like this, but as mentioned, I think it makes a big difference. I also use the needle (very carefully) to sweep inside the slot on the extended mouth piece.

Hope this might help somebody - cheers!

Thats awesome they've done that before but in no way is that a reasonable expectation to have. If they shipped replacements beforehand everytime than what would stop people from saying their stuff is DOA just to get freebies? No offense, but just a little research would tell you that the IQ is not currently that reliable and therefore not the best choice to depend on as your only vaporizer.

cobra505 chill out man , most companies will not ship without receiving a product back in hand 1st. You been lucky to be getting the service you been getting , no reason to call them out on the forum like that when a private message could have worked. I am sure when a mod see's this , they will take it down along with your posts. You seem like a cool person and i understand your frustration but to be honest i feel they have been more than fair and you will not get that kind of service most likely going with any other company , trust me . They are doing better than davinici would do if you bought direct from them , as i have not had my Iq for some time now as its been sitting at davinci.

Excellent tip, never thought of using a sewing needle, damn holes are so damn small. That was one of the things that was kind of stopping me from using the chamber in the first place airflow. Great tip. Before I was just removing the gasket and just letting it soak in ISO.

Hey Cobra, I watched your video. My IQ never charged very good when plugged directly in as yours is. You should consider getting an extra battery, and an external charger for your 18650 batterys, they aren't expensive and seems to charge it much, much more efficiently. You can rotate, and always have a fully charges battery.

Also, when switching from the smart path to the precision heating, it always seemed a little funky. I would have to change the temperature right when it switched from blocks, to numbers, otherwise it would automatically switch back to the smart paths. When you said it wasn't heating up, it looked like it may have switched to smart paths, and you accidentally switched it to the lowest one.

Based on what I saw in your video, I would suggest you try these things before having to be without it, and possibly getting another unit that behaves the same way.

Good luck!
