For those who are inclined to mod: I recently placed a couple o rings on the volcano bowl which allows for a tight seal with a hydratube.

I've tried this before with cold water but this time I used boiling water from the kettle to try and hydrate the air, as I've been thinking the volcano produces more dry air than other vapes due to its design.

The result was the smoothest vapor I've experienced so far from the volcano, and even allowed me to raise the temperature past 6!

It's worth mentioning that I've hooked my volcano bags up to a bubbler with hot water before and did not get the same smooth vapor. I think it has to do with immediately hydrating the vapor vs waiting until you inhale through a bubbler.

In my experience it works best with minimal inhalation and allows your lungs to fill up like a balloon with the barest minimum of effort. I find myself wanting to use my volcano like this more and more lately! :D
Nice , warm water is known to condition your vapor better than cold. I just would never add boiling water straight to my glass due to temp difference which could make the glass crack but also most of all i wouldn't want any splash back burning the shit out my face or mouth .

This shouldn't really be a concern unless you're putting the hot water in the pipe immediately after there being cold water in the pipe already. If it's just being put into the pipe from room temperature this shouldn't be a concern. I can at least say I've been doing this for years now without any issues.

Good point, I should have added that I always wait a couple minutes for the water to cool slightly in the bubbler before using, as it can be a little hot right out of the kettle.

Always better to be safe than sorry, but lately I've been pouring boiling water thru my glass pieces to keep them clean in between ISO soaks, and havent had an issue yet.

How long do your quick connect volcano bags last? Mine really do not last that long, and I am starting to get annoyed that I am paying big bucks for plastic bags lol.

If you get the Solid Valve, you can buy a roll of bags and make your own whatever size you want. Or go on YouTube & you can find a method to replace Easy Valve bags. There's several videos showing how to do it. Or the turkey oven bags I've heard about people using. That would be my last resort.

Good luck and Happy Vaping:rockon:

What is 'not last that long' mean...do you get a month out of them?

VaporNation has the six pack of easy valve bags for $49. I never want to be cavalier with other people's money, but if you wear out a bag in a month, then that's a lot of expensive herb through the device and the cost of the bag doesn't seem that unreasonable to me. But your opinion may well differ....since its your money I'm talking about! LOL

Cheers

You can do that with the easy valve now as well with the new adapter. No more screw drivers.

I wish that the easy valve bags were cheaper but at the same time I am glad to have a high quality option available, as there are many cheaper options (mods, solid valve) if cost is a major issue.

I too found myself going through bags far too quickly, and eventually realized it was because I was constantly squeezing all the air out of the bags with my hands. I would do this before filling the bag every time, and to empty the bag of stale vapor when needed.

A friend of mine who ALWAYS inhales through the mouthpiece to clear the bag of air was seeing his bags last much longer, but they were also much more enjoyable to use. I thought he had been buying them more often than me but it was simply due to not squeezing the bags.

Now that I've stopped squeezing air from the bags they are lasting much longer, and also they are keeping their shape, instead of gradually becoming smaller and smaller.

Are we using the sane machine?
I buy bags (tubes) from s and B for like $8.90 for 3 boxes each box has 3 meters or like 10 feet of tubing. 30 cents a foot? That's cheap. I think. If you treat them well they last. For me I like a new bag. The flavor is better. Old bags smell and should be stewed in milk.

Btw the new easy valve leaks I will continue to rebuild the older easy valves.

My volcano rocks.

I use each EZ Valve bag for a year.
The old small bag's mouthpiece assembly gets placed on a new 42 inch bag, and I pull out a new small bag to use (which in a year will have it's mouthpiece placed on another new giant bag..
I reclaim the stuff from the year old bag.
I use the Volcano daily.
Ritual is here: http://fuckcombustion.com/threads/volcano.220/page-46#post-569774
The poem about the ritual is :
Yearly Ritual adhered to here,
Same routine from year to year,
A re-build keeps bags nice and clear,
And the reclaim's flavor is very rare!

(and a new bag won't so readily tear)

Anodizing the volcano.
It's clear the volcano funnel is aluminum.
Has anybody ever had theirs anodized ?

I have done various anodizing projects in the past. And started thinking that a cool splash annoy would look great!

Anybody done this? Anybody interested in this?

There is a company that sells 24K gold plated units.

I bought a Volcano Classic with solid valve right around the beginning of this year. Since I already had an Herbalizer, Underdog, and Vapcap, I didn't really need a Volcano. I guess it's sort of a bucket list kind of thing.***

When I ordered my Volcano, I was unaware of the redesigned easy valve. Although I'd definitely like to get an easy valve eventually, I'm still glad I chose the solid valve. I like the weight of the solid valve, as well as the filling chamber and filling chamber insert. And no threading/unthreading! I've lost more than a few Herbalizer loads from its bowl coming unthreaded while filling a bag; one reason why I have used the Herbalizer about five times the last few months.

Before I had my Volcano, I thought the Herbalizer was great. I still do, but now I realize how much better and easier (ergonomic) it could/should be. If you're going to charge $600 for something that can easily be done well for a few bucks, you have to think like a cripple when designing it. Herbalizer didn't. Which is why this particular cripple doesn't use his Herbalizer much anymore. I don't know if Storz & Bickel thought like a cripple when designing the Volcano (probably not, considering how long it's been around), but the Volcano with solid valve is just about perfect for my nearly-useless hands. Even with the limited functionality of my hands, making new bags is easy (and kinda fun).

***Although I could possibly be here for another 30 or 40 years, there's always a real possibility that I might be gone in 30 minutes. With my disability, I never know what nasty injury may be seconds away. For example, I broke my femur into three pieces last year just by standing.

The Volcano was designed as a certified medical device for the inhalation of cannabinoids!

Hello all volcano users,

How much herb do you usually use in your chambers? I have a volcano (with the easy valve), and had been using about 0.5g of herb, and would inhale a whole bag.

Currently I am using an underdog and doing about 0.02-3g. I find it very efficient, but I slightly prefer the cooler vapor from a bag (as inhaling it strait from the heat source, I have read, is not as good for your lungs as if the vapor has been cooled down). and I am at a bit higher risk of developing lung cancer (even tho I'm a non smoker), so I try to keep everything as safe as possible.

Does anyone here use like 0.05 to 0.1g of herb in their volcano? if so, how do you fit it in the chamber (as I read its not supposed to fly around in the chamber as the fan is running)

I just bought some Mullein (a herb that is supposed to be good for the lungs), and I am gonna try to pack the chamber with mullein and then put 0.05g of grass on top (that way it won't fly around in the chamber), but I don't know if the volcano will be able to efficiently extract from such small amounts as well as the underdog can.

Not sure where this came from but since the chamber is sealed closed, I find that having the herb float around in there exposes it evenly to the hot air stream.

Now this is certainly true of the Plenty where you don't want your load falling to the 'bottom' of the chamber when its held horizontal to take a draw. But I have not heard of this being an issue at all with the Volcano whose chamber sits nice and horizontally.

.1 g is about minimum for me. .15 g is more like my regular load in the Volcano.

I have tried small loads with the liquid pad on top of it as a spacer and didn't find it helped.

Can I use a 220V version Cano in the States with an 110v adapter?

Thanks!

The Volcano reducing chamber with the small pods works well for small loads in the volcano.
I generally put a gram (or whatever fits) in the chamber... sometimes it is .7 to .8

Thanks for the help guys. Baron, after my readings it seems that it is a matter of personal preference (in regards to keeping the herb in place or letting it fly around). some people say that it helps let all the bits get heated, and some say that if they are flying around then they don't get as much heat hitting them (some said that when they put the liquid pad on top to keep them in place they noticed more vapor production)

vitolo, thanks for the tip, I am about to buy those. I actually have a crafty (which I have never used) and just noticed that it has 1 of those small capsuals included, if it is the same size as those other ones, then I can definitely see how it will give tiny loads for the volcano too.

Hey guys. Just joined the Volcano club. My sister gave me her digital Volcano with the easy valve set which included the adapter mouthpiece, so can make bags as well. Been grinding relatively fine with my sharpstone and getting amazing bags with it. Love this machine. :)
