:whoa: Whoa, that core's sporting a significantly different look versus its older siblings. I'm trying to suss the airflow situation, best guess is there's one o' them trans-dimensional cold-plasma intakes inside. Guess it could be a quad-etheric singularity unit, if @underdog figured out how to stop them randomly making objects disappear around the house...

Four would be ideal for me. It's rare that I run a fourth, but three pups on 24/7 is pretty standard.

Would anyone be able to comment on the differences between the standard NonG stem and the oversized NonG stem?

I know that the standard stem fits inside the center tube while the oversized fits over the center tube.

However, does the take away from the quality of the hit? I'm looking for larger bowl packs while still maintaining nice dense hits, I'm thinking the oversized NonG stem might be what I'm looking for.

Using the oversized Nong shouldn't effect vapor quality and will allow for larger loads. The standard may be a slightly higher temp hit but that's about it.

I have an aircore and find at full 12v I get perfect results with the nongs, and lower temp draws with the oversized nong and glass. @HighlyEducatedScholar If you have a standard core, it seems you're good. If you have an aircore, I would not recommend the oversized nong if you want dense hits. I hope that's clear cause I'm ripped.

Anyway, I've been using it daily and I really like it. Tonight I realized the glass stems are perfect for watching tv and sipping on cannabis. It reminds me of my lsv on noon. Oh, and packing the bowls gives me a more thorough pull. If I keep it loose I can get a few decent drags off a nylon dd. Pack it tighter and it's more potent and seems to extract quicker.

I really do enjoy a slower more relaxed high from sipping low temp. I might start doing that more often. Just toss a tiny piece in a glass stem and it breaks as I stir. I get so many yummy sips...I highly recommend others try it. With a standard core, maybe it's similar to going down a notch to like 11 or 10.5v?

On the Woodscents thread, there was some talk about changing the power supply to a 12v, 3a power supply (instead of 12/2). That got me thinking about the underdog. I know some people have used a 15v supply with a dimmer. How does upping the voltage differ from upping the amperage? Does one get hotter and one recover faster? Could the UD handle 3 amps?

I thought someone with some more experience in this area might be able to weigh in.

The amperage rating on the power supplies is the maximum A it's supposed to be able to draw at a time. The actual amperage that an UD draws is more like 0.5A. So the only people who need to worry about the amperage rating are the guys running multiple dogs on one supply. The voltage is the power it's actually supplying so, yeah, increasing that will increase your operating temp.

Not sure about the WS's electrical specs.

I was just headed to the shop but I'll take a quick, simplified whack at your question...

To keep this short and to the point I'll just start by saying 'electricity doesn't work like that', specifically 'amperage doesn't work like that'. I'll explain below...

Amperage = Voltage / Resistance. What this means is for amps to increase either voltage much increase or resistance must decrease. One or both of those two has to change to cause a change in amperage.

Here's a real world example as it pertains to Log Vapes. The 'traditional' Log runs on 12v and has a resistance of 20ohms. Using the above formula (A=V/R) or the one below you'll see that 12v/20ohm = .6amps. - - That's .6A - - It can't/won't be higher unless the voltage or resistance is changed.

When we look at power supplies they'll say things like 12V/1A (or 2A, 3A, etc) which tells us that it delivers 12V and the maximum amperage it is capable of delivering. But again because of it's resistance our Log will only draw .6A of that maximum.

So in summary we could hook our Log up to a 12v/1A power supply or a 12v/50A power supply and it'll only draw the .6A it needs from either. You'll see no performance gain in using a higher rated (A) power supply.

That said we like to use a power supply that's capable of a decent amount of amperage over the .6A the Log will use. The reason for this is just because we don't want the power supply to have to work hard, that way it'll hopefully live a longer life. Better to have the Log running your 2A power supply at .6A instead of running a 1A twice as hard with that same .6A. Make sense?

Seriously though nice pic, it shows how small the Travel VVPS is compared to your PD. Those little guys might be small but they're tough as nails, work really good and don't even barely get warm while doing it unlike buck-boost solutions. :2c:

Hey Dogs, happy Saturday.. hope everyone who celebrated St Paddy's yesterday isn't in too much pain today. :ugh:

Sweet, I've got your double sitting on the test bench running at max power with 2 Dogs to stress test it, will ship it out on Monday.

If you're talking about splicing off from one of the channels and using a dimmer on that to effectively run a third channel just be careful not to overload anything. The channels themselves can take it with no problem but the input side of things (input power plug, input wiring and 2A source power supply) will be pushed to the absolute limits in that scenario so something might trip a fuse or something. On 3+ channel units that stuff won't be a problem since they'll be sized to that level of power but the 2 channel is just sized for 2. :2c:

Anywho, shipped a bunch of these things out since announcing them (and then a bunch more just since UD'ette put them on the site) and am excited to see what everyone thinks of them. Hopefully we'll be able to make these for a long time to come. :rockon:

so... I had been ignoring my NonG stems for some reason... hence my bitching about the GonGs clinking around...

Well, busted out the NonGs for nightly doubledogputmeinacomapls session and hoooohhh boy. Yep. I forgot less is more and hot damn do these quick, hi temp rips compared to the GonGs get me good.

Let us all remember the power of our NonGs on this fine day. :myday:

holyyyyy shit, this oversized NonG is no joke. definitely lives up to its name of oversized. this stem looks like it'll be perfect when I have my friends over.

unfortunately I can't use this stem yet because I'm waiting for a 40 degree angle glass adapter from another vendor to come in. funny thing is that I live in New England, the glass adapter is coming from Philadelphia and Underdog was still able to get me the NonG faster from California :hmm::p:clap:

very impressive speed by Underdog

can't wait to get the glass adapter in so I can finally use this bad boy

That's hilarious that our package made it there before your almost local one lol. We ship packages 6 days a week, all Priority Mail and it's usually pretty amazing how quickly they get stuff delivered these days. I know not everyone has good luck with the post office but we certainly (usually) do!
