Coconut oil for bruises?

anyone have experience using coconut oil for skin care issues?
I bruised my lip a week ago and it's been very sore, painful, and DRY since then. Kind of like it morphed into a cold sore too, on the inside of mouth, right next to the lip, plus the bump on the lip.

I was using Carmex lip balm, and then tried coconut oil. The first application of oil felt great, like it was curing it but it didn't seem to last.

I'm thinking of mixing in a little honey as that has healing effects.
Anyone with experience creating a natural concoction?
What's worked for you?

Thanks

I've had great results extracting cannabis into coconut oil, you could use it by itself or incorporate it into lotion or a lip balm recipe. You'd probably want to mix in some beeswax as that will help to keep it moist and on your skin.

You should check out my lotion thread here. This site has some great recipes and background and making skincare products and the left side of the page has some guides for what all the different kind of oils do.

if you're having bruising issues, it could be a larger problem (check with your doc), let's assume it's just an anomaly you're trying to treat. Bromelain (digestive enzyme) can be very useful, but you want to take a fairly large amount (I worked up to 1.5G when I used it) far enough away from a meal where it's not actually used for food digestion, and the body is allowed to use it for 'housecleaning' processes. Some vitamin C, and related bioflavinoids can also be helpful for bruising... the topical applications I'll leave to someone else, but CBD could be useful topically.
Good luck!

Best thing I have ever used for getting rid of bruises is DMSO, however because we are dealing with your lip, and the inside of your lip, DMSO may not be practical in this particular situation.

Anytime you use DMSO topically your skin has to be extremely clean (DSMO is a solvent that can work transdermally), so sensitive membranes should probably be avoided (and be prepared for a garlic taste in your mouth after using it topically). Be careful what grade of DMSO is being used as well.

I've used a combination of high oral doses of vitamin C combined with a topical herbal paste made from comfrey and plantain infused coconut oil that works quite well.

Several years ago a neighbour took a nasty fall. Her face was badly bruised. There was a huge gala planned for her daughter's 25th wedding anniversary the following weekend. She was desperate to get rid the bruises. She used the approach above several times a day and by the time the big weekend rolled around she was in fine form. The bruises were almost completely gone and her regular make-up regime hid any slight traces left from the bruises.

I've used a similar approach myself (with some added herbs) when I sprained my ankle quite badly. It was swollen and bruised and I couldn't put any weight on it. I repeatedly soaked my foot in a detection of the herbs, no coconut oil, and took huge amounts of vitamin C. It healed up in no time.
