....planearth ll is also broadcasted in 4k by direct tv...fabulous...

Yup, pic was great. The sound, however, was really jacked. Center channel was only output to left rear. This only happened on the 4k broadcast. The hd broadcast was fine. The only way that I could rectify it was change my AVR to output in 2 channel stereo.

...eagerly awaiting more channels to broadcast in 4k...

Me too. I just found out about the 4k broadcast yesterday late afternoon. Dish just put up a channel (504) that is dedicated to nothing but 4k. Planet was free. I hope they follow suite with future programming.

The difference between 4k and 1080i HD is plainly obvious.

spent a few days watching all of The Expanse up to where it is now (s02e06). dig the slick/crisp look of everything in the show, the ships inside and out, etc. also like that you get a real sense of all three sides having their own valid story and perspective on being right...not just good vs bad vs bad vs bad.

Totally agree, it's a great show. I'm waiting for all of S2 to be out so I can binge

I didnt see much of the Oscars just parts of it. It was sure a clusterfuck with Warren Beatty and Faye Dunaway. These are professionals - they are supposed to be better than we are - they should have stopped it and said there was a mistake made.

Evidently the card was wrong. Don't go with what looks like it, if it's wrong. I bet they feel embarrassed, it wasn't really their fault, their jobs were to read the cards. Both actors are up in age and maybe they had been drinking. That slows down the thinking process.

You would have thought there would have been some backup plan. Maybe somebody off to the side helping out if there is a glitch.

Most of award shows I don't watch. A lot of the movies I had never heard of. Do folks even watch the Academy Awards anymore?

....haven't watched Oscar's since they booed the Native American woman for accepting for marlon Brando....but...one of my tenets is...anytime people put on tuxedos and gowns too...give themselves awards...I'm not watching that...I'll watch the movies...(if they are good)...the tv shows...( same criteria)...and the sporting events...I draw the line when they dress up and hand each other trophys...just that type of guy...I'm not watching that shit..

Love both those shows, and I finally started season two of Expanse last night, only three episodes in so far, but it is pretty great. Humans and Legion are next on the catch up docket...

Oh also new comedy Making History on Fox is pretty intriguing, time travel farce from a family guy writer and Last Man on Earth producers who created Clone High too (not to mention they directed Lego Movie and 21/22 Jump St)

Yup, Humans is also one of my favs. It just goes to show that a sci-fi show about robots doesn't have to be cluttered with special effects for it to be really, REALLY good.

Legion is growing on me as well. Kinda hard to follow sometimes when vaped though.

Just finished season one of Incorporated and it had good acting, well produced, good dialogue and a half decent story line. I recommend it.

Incorporated.
Season 1 (10eps) IMDb 7.4

Set in the year 2074, when corporations have unlimited power, this sci-fi thriller follows young executive Ben Larson, who hides his true identity to infiltrate a dangerous world to save the love of his life. Through a surprising turn of events, he is forced to compromise his position as he takes on the whole corporate system and discovers that climbing the corporate ladder can prove to be a deadly game. "Incorporated" has a strong behind-the-scenes pedigree, with Oscar winners Matt Damon and Ben Affleck among the show's executive producers.

I haven't been following this thread, so I apologize if this already been talked about, but I'm in the middle of re-watching Twin Peaks in prep for the upcoming continuation on Showtime, and all I can is amaze-balls! Such a great, unique and weird show. The humor is just so...Lynch. It's gonna be a good year for sittin' on your ass in front of the boob tube! New Better Call Saul, Game of Thrones, The Leftovers, Twin Peaks and of course Grandpa Rick and I ! That should hold me over till more Westworld in 2018. Oh, and I'm diggin Nirvana, the Band, the Show on Viceland. "Where's your will to be weird".

Good call. Showtime's a great add-on for amazon prime, I've been binge-(re)watching homeland before getting into season six. I've got twin peaks on dvd, I'll give it a go in anticipation of the continuation.
