Discontinued Element Hand-powered Pocket Vaporizer

Abysmal Vapor

Supersniffer 2000 - robot fart detection device
Hmm you are saying that there are no more spare parts for this vaporizer ? Then it does not worth buying if it is no way of repairing it or warranty,, i will contact the seller for further questions.... Which part do you think is the easiest to brake ,least durable?

Looks like vapman did a 2014 video on this vape. I am very interested, but dont want to spend over 200 bucks on one of these.

No one who can write a review in english ever got one huh?

can you recall why this product was discontinued?

Too complex/hard to build relative to demand (sales) IIRC. The Vapman (and it's pending 'heating station') seem to be the call these days.

Wouldnt friction power mean major wear and tear on the unit?

Not necessarily, at least not unreasonably so I think. Brakes and clutches for cars and motorcycles are pretty long lived and reliable and they do a lot more work in peaks. It takes some thought to get it right, but that can evidently be done and still look cool.

I would think that this would work similar to the wind up flashlights or radios. I cant get to the site to look at the unit more closely but I'm guessing that spinning the units charges a capacitor and then the charge is released similar to the aa battery on the launch box

Nope. It would have to be much larger and not near as organic. A capacitor (even 'super caps') can't hold anything even close to the energy needed for a single hit, you'd need a box full. Secondary (rechargeable) battery is the way to go there, either NiMH or Li-ion I'd think.

Generating heat, storing it and using it is a better way IMO. You have to make heat in the end to make vapor anyway....

I'll be damned...

Absolutely no doubt about it, Stu.

Only question is when.

Whoa very cool! After watching him use it I was pretty surprised looks like it takes quite a bit of effort. Hopefully we get a hand crank jack in the box style vape one day haha.

I haven't really been a fan of a brand of anything my whole life, but this René and his @vapman company have me cheering for them to the level I'm considering getting a t-shirt and going to Switzerland for a tour of the workshop.

This must be how middle aged men feel about rock bands.

Good point. If he was really serious he'd be organizing tours by now, wouldn't he?

Make for an interesting travel agency......lots of customers named Smith.

Its funny this got bumped, I found this thread yesterday after reading some ancient comment of yours in the VM thread. I thought you were kidding about the friction powered vape, but now I see René is a fucking madman....

Now I feel even better about my order, I can't wait to see what he comes up with next now that the stations finished up!

@IAmKrazy2 Did you eventually got the unit? And if so? What's it like?
Thanks!

If i had this unit i for sure would have made a video. If i remember correctlly @vapman didn't see this vape as financially viable, as the price point would be very expensive but i don't want to miss quote or missrepresent the man.

No doubt it would be a fun novelty at the very least, and maybe for some it could be a daily driver. Would love to see more or something similar.

edit: I think it's just a website mistake cause you can't add it to your basket, sorry, false alarm!

I tried the link I posted a while ago, added the item to my cart and proceed to checkout...but canceled before payment. Although it looks like some units are still/yet/maybe avalaible, very interesting isn't it?

Many vapes & accessories. Always happy to help
Yeah, still very interested in reading about, hearing reports... None of us have taken the plundge yet, right? If it was 100 bucks less, I'd get one... Like this, it would be used rarely and be my most expensive vape - but it would be fantastic to have this for certain cases... outdoors in the woods, ziipp zippp ziippp zziippp - vapor and nature.. wonderful!

IIRC @vapman his own self told us it's no longer available, hasn't been for a while, didn't sell at all well? It's not hard to see how many hours of careful fitting and testing are needed for each even when made in reasonable batches. And we're talking extremely skilled labor here, it won't come cheap no matter due to training and supervisory overhead.

"Speed costs money, how fast can you afford to go?".

I too think it would be neat, although I doubt it'd see anything like the same use as say Vapman with it's lighter power. Working up a sweat to take a few hits 'huffing and puffing' before it cools off again doesn't sound all that attractive as an 'every time' routine. It's a sure bet VM could use one if he wanted to, any time he was inclined, yet I bet that doesn't happen much at all? It seems natural to me that the idea evolved to the modern Vapman........which is superior in most every way?

Fun idea for sure, though.

I just purchased the last one off that Verdampftnochmal site. It was shipped today from Germany to US so it could be a few weeks before I get it but I'm super excited.

I'm a vapor enthusiast so even if I barely ever use it or it stops working it will be a cool addition to my collection. I'm also interested in seeing how it's made and possibly creating replacement parts myself if need be.

I'm planning on copy and paste ing the German manual into an english translation software if I can't figure it out by myself.

I'll update you guys when it arrives.
