Honeycomb Drag 1 Disk vs 2 Disk vs 3 Disk

Hey FC I need some advice on different levels of drag my triple had some drag and was wondering how big of difference there is between a 1, 2 & 3 disk?

Nobody has multiple honeycomb pieces there has to be a difference in drag?

A few extra factors include tube width, hole size and number of holes.

I have a very small triple honey comb, had a honeycomb to tree-perc combustion piece for a couple of years and have also used a single honeycomb tube.

I currently have a double lace disc tube (hand woven honeycomb) in my vape glass rotation.

For the most part, I would say that the honeycomb disc percolator is very low drag, but depending on the placement and size can be quite chuggy.
If the disc is placed above the inlet, so there is a natural perc action in the tube pre-disc diffusion, then there is quite a bit of chug. If the disc is placed very close to the top of the inlet, then the disc will fire more evenly and function more smoothly. Once the initial pull fires the perc, the drag remains constant and is generally quite low, depending on water levels.

I would guess that less discs would offer slightly less chug and noticeably less drag.
But higher water levels would affect the drag more than the amount of discs..

Ya the issue with your question OP is that it would require someone to have 2 of the exact same piece with multiple different amounts of honeycombs. Not that many people would have that many pieces, especially something so specific.

We can only give you conjecture, even if we had those pieces, it would be our subjective experience.

I would just buy a piece from DHGate for 30 dollars or so and just test yourself if you don't get any responses soon.

Frit Disk is alittle different than honeycomb

okay I guess I can use DHgate for examples:
http://www.dhgate.com/store/product/qb-003-glass-water-pipe-with-3-honeycomb/185773618.html

comparing this to

http://www.dhgate.com/store/product/wp-011bubbler-hand-blown-glass-vase-perc/171239717.html#ctabBox

will the triple have much more drag?
With that splash guard, yes notable difference, I'd guess.

If it was just the honeycomb discs, between 2 and 3 I would say it'd be a lot less noticeable, it could be as little as 2/3rds the restriction though. Unsure on the dynamics

let me pick your brain for a sec so splash guard is gonna add to the drag that much?

my thing is with the 2 disk wont the splash from water kill my ice quick as fuck like 2 or 3 dabs?

I need ice main reason I got ridge of my old triple and I would like a vape and dab piece one in the same but give me your input brother

I'd consider a beaker with a multi-hole downstem diffuser and ice notches if that's what you want. Straight tubes are more prone to spraying water into the ice section I find, which is not what you want

A splash guard might not add too much drag depending on how it's cut, but I find they are usually pretty restrictive if they work well They'd generally add more drag than an extra honeycomb disc

I Miss my beaker roor but I prefer stemless would you say from the links that the triple has more holes per honeycomb then the other?(Looks like a bigger circular area)

would u recommend a frit or a birdcage over a honeycomb?

Maybe check out the Zob zobello beaker

Could be a pretty cool option. There are probably other stemless beakers out there too, that's just a legit one I'm aware of. There'd probably be a copy on DHgate.

I've only used a frit pre-cooler, which (for combustion) was complete bullshit. Got like one good hit out of it, and then it started to get clogged. After only a few hits it was useless and had a HEAP of restriction.

With vapour this would be less problematic, but it still would potentially be an issue.
If you can afford a David Goldstein Rooster Apparatus, then it would be a non-issue as the frit grain size is custom and made for smoking/toking.
Cheap china frit I wouldn't fuck with, unless you're prepared to buy again and again if you don't luck out round one. (there'd definitely be some better options, but I don't see the appeal, they rob a lot of flavour anyway).

Shower heads though, they are brilliant. Anything flame polished would be a joy to use, Matrix percs are pretty good, but just about any basic showerhead is probably going to work really well.

I would guess most people would prefer showerheads to honeycombs for the lack of chug, smoother draw and less chaotic splash and better flavour retention.

As for the size difference with the straight tube links you posted, yep. Big difference. Good pick up.
My triple honeycomb is about the same size (though bottle shape) to the double disc, it's crap. You'd want at least a 40mm tube, 30mm is shit, it makes splash back a bigger problem and is just unsatisfying to use.

..
Someone recently got a StevenLMZ79 triple honeycomb that looked pretty good, struggling to find it because of bad internet :(
It'd be in the cheap & quality bubbler thread, not too far back

Found it! Cheap, high-quality bubbler??
Looks like the top disc would for sure spray water up into the ice, maybe see if StevenLMZ79 has a double honeycomb

So you are saying go with the triple? because of the size?

I'm saying that the size with that StevenLMZ79 straight tube is what you'd want, but it's not going to be a perfect option for you because of getting water into the ice section.

If you're going to always be using ice, this isn't a good tube.

The thing with ice, is that as it melts, it adds water to the percolators. This means, the longer it sits, the more splash back generated from the bong, which means the ice melts quicker.

If you're going to use ice, and want it working well as a main feature of the tube, the Steven straight triple honeycomb is no good.
I had a look and he doesn't sell a double disc tube.

I'm having a look at DHgate now, and searching for "double honeycomb" will show a plethora of options.
They all seem to suck in various ways.
Buy a china beaker, or a straight tube by someone that has half a clue what they're making :p

EDIT: just stumbled on this one from @Thcgos

Care to drop a line THCgos?

these also look like what you're after

Awesome bro so should the birdcage have less drag? How does it compare to a triple honeycomb? Never hit a birdcage so no Idea on the level of diffusion or drag.

This is what the owner had to say
Yeah the DG-102 isn't great with flavour, lots of diffusion.
Although with 2 matrix percs and a long neck, it's like breathing air, it's insanely smooth.

The bonus is, if you want even less drag, you can just fill a single perc, not both.

Those matrix/birdcage percs would have low drag, similar to a honeycomb, but with much less chug/no chug
