What's your favorite torch or lighter to use with the Vapcap?

I bought the one from ebay that Squilby mentioned. I'm using the arizer air pouch for my vapcaps and that one seems like it would be the best fit. I have the original dynastash but I like longer stems. The air pouch fits one that is slightly longer plus a lighter and doob tube. It's only lacking a magnet.

Who cares fuel evaporation by using a butane torch insert?
Its just important when using the original insert what we dont want to do.
All in all the ti seems to be a nice simple Zippo but is there optically a big difference to 'normal' silver satin Zippos for 10 or 20 bucks?
And more than 100 $ for a chinese copy?

Yeash! no way, and @Hogni is totally right, there is no need to worry about fuel evaporation as its butane, sealed in the tank.

No way for 100$ I'd rather go for the cool looking wooden dragon carved Zippo case.

I'm actually leaning towards @Squiby's super slim lighter and boring out my DynaStash.

I'm in the ridiculous situation of having to light my Maxim quad jet torch with a Bic lighter! It sparks but doesn't ignite ... but after it has flamed up once (with a little help from the Bic), it will light OK on the next 3 or tries. It's taking the fun out of the Vapcap

I have a Vector that won't light if I press the ignition too quickly. It needs the gas to flow before the spark... so I push it "slower" - or rather, push it enough to hear the gas flowing and then press it all the way down to trigger the spark.

I have had more than one torch requiring this and even my Firebird triple needs some gas flowing to be sure it works at the first try.

Could be time for a replacement, but it may just need some maintenance. Try this:

• Empty the butane and all air from the tank. Do this OUTSIDE.
• Dry scrub the flame area and as much as you can get to the top of the igniter with a small metal brush, or even a cleanish dry toothbrush. Once scrubbed up, blow in it as hard as you can, or use compressed air to get rid of everything you can.
• You may have to remove a cover or something, but try not to disassemble to the point of removing the ingniter assembly. You're mostly trying to remove any carbon deposits or other crud that has collected in there.
  
• Refill and readjust your flame setting.

I've had this work with a few difficult lighters. But, once the ingniter is gone - it's gone. IMO not worth replacing it. Just get a new lighter. There are many decent fair priced ones in this thread.

Others have said and I'll echo... the 4 flame Vertigo that Dynavap pushes (it's the Vertigo Stinger) is pretty solid and CHEAP.

With no clue about what I was doing, I gently realigned one of the three serrated metal thingies that sit just above the igniter, in the middle of the four jets and, hey presto, it worked. Delicate buggers, these butane torch lighters

Maybe this deserves a separate thread but: what butane fuels are you guys using? I got some Puretane but it seems to be causing issues in all my torches

I use Newport and it seems to work great . But I am new to torch lighters so I'm interested what everybody uses too .

I just use the Home Hardware brand. It's easy to pick up a can along with lumber or screws or what not.

I have had a few issues but not sure that they are butane related. For example, my Dynavap quad has stopped working. It no longer produces a spark.

I am using Colibri and Newport and no problems so far other than the greening around the jet holes of the lighters... Weird greening... Like mold but not removable.

I just cleaned and filled my lighters: vertigo, xikar, pocket lighters, gstar. My scorch doesn't work anymore even if filled. The gstar is too hard for me to press given thumb issue. But I keep coming back to my jetliner. What I like about it is that it is dependable. Some of the others seem to lose their flame even when they have adequate butane.

I almost bought that one , but didn't see a fuel window . I kinda question if that's really a big deal , but I'm a pretty visual person and it makes me feel better if I can see what's happening in there . I may still go back and buy one if I'm not happy with the lighters I ordered recently .

So I broke my 10000000th lighter the other day, and I was thinking that somebody should make a rebuildable lighter. That would make my life a lot easier. Probably wouldn't be safe, but neither were unregulated e cig mods and that didn't stop anybody.

Any suggestions for a quality desk lighter?

So I have had a few days with the xikar stratosphere 2 , and I'm really digging this lighter . It works great for a single jet . I have the flame set about as low as it will go , but still get great results . Plus I get about 3 more packs per butane fill than I did with the Zico quad I was using . The biggest downside for this lighter is that the clicker ( for lack of a better term ) gets hot quickly . Almost too hot to touch . I use the lanyard as a buffer between my finger and the lighter . Aside from that , I'm happy with this lighter . I just received my Colibri Firebird triple jet and was given for free a HongJing triple jet , so I will report back on these in a few days . I can say already though that I had trouble filling the Colibri when I got it .I made sure to bleed it for trapped air , but it only seems to want to fill partially . Could be user error though . I'll see when it empties . The HongJing came filled .

I'm having great results with the big ass torch I have at work. I use it with the smallest flame I can get and it gives me very flavorful sessions, better than both my single and triple lighter. Any idea why?

I agree, big flames with some care (low setting and respecting distance from the cap) work the best.

I find it is like in cooking: fast cooking preserves savors the best.
When you heat with a single flame it takes longer and load stays "hot" a little more time before hitting (while cap reaches click temp) than with big flames.
During this delai, IMO, load gets a more pronounced "roasted" taste. Just my 2cc

One flame also is more forgiving. I can go three secs after click with a single on a fresh load. I am afraid to do so with a triple...

I've had a few days with the Colibri Firebird triple flame and I'm pretty happy so far . The heat is well concentrated and I get quick clicks with it . The tank is pretty large and it not seeming to use the butane as quick as I thought it would . No problems with it getting hot . There is one aspect that I am having a love hate relationship with though . The entire bottom of this lighter is the dial to adjust the butane with . I love it because it doesn't require a tool to adjust , but hate it because I constantly turn it down just by holding and using the lighter . It's super easy to adjust , so I guess it's not a big deal . I will report back if I have any future issues .
