Hey all you battery safety peeps... here is a interesting article on safe discharge of 18650s and some great reviews on chargers and batteries on the same site. Nerds Enjoy!

http://lygte-info.dk/info/BatteryLowVoltage UK.html

I am very excited to get @cannabis.pro over from Vermont next week to train on building Milaana's. This strategic alliance will enable the Milaana to start to grow it's way into the main stream market place while RBT focuses fully on Zion. There will be a contact form on the www for anyone that would like to be mailed a pick and a internal toothed brass washer to be used between the copper hatch and the brass thumb screw to reduce contact resistance. Thanks to all here that contributed to these fixes. @Vape Dr. Rules!

The new copper that is the same profile but slightly larger than the pick will be trialed on the water jet tomorrow. The artwork for the new logo is in and looks amazing on the mother of pearl picks... Thanks @thekarmawhore !!! This last little touch of steam punk really pulls the Milaana together design wise and provides the battery kill switch that is needed to block the pocket rocket.

It really has been a fun and exciting project that improved so rapidly in real time based on all the expert beta tester feedback here. I am a little sad to see Mi head east but I feel joy knowing that Cannabis.Pro will make amazing Milaana that you would expect to be crafted in the hills of Vermont. I am also feeling proud to tie a bow around Milaana knowing that all issues that need to be addressed have been identified and fixed.

Me, I can hardly remember the last time I was so happy to put a bead on something... You hear that Zion? Hope to see ya all over on the Zion thread in the coming months cuz things about to fun :)

Keep on putting those Milaana heaters through the paces. Knock on wood, the reliability has been impressive so far. Hopefully @cannabis.pro and I have a chance to build a Milaana with the added char reduction feature built into the heater similar to Zion to see if it has the same noticeable effect?

Please continue to spread the word that vaped.com, 420 EDC and soon Planet Vape will be stocked with Milaana for all your friends :)

Hello everyone :)

I really need your help and advise.
I've been smoking for more than 10 years now and I'd like to use a vaporizer. So many brands and models... After reading a lot of reviews I don't know which one I should take between Milaana and Firewood 4. Zion seems also very nice but might be too heavy to carry.
I'd like to get an on demand convection, not session style, and not conduction.
Which one do you think I should get?
I'm very excited and can't wait to place my order lol
Thanks a lot!

Hey friend. Welcome to the forum. Excellent choices - hopefully they will help you to FC completely and convert you to the light (but heavy vapor) side ! :D

Definitely opt in for a Zion while you can.
I'd say the Firewood is more of a session vape compared to the Mi, just because it takes longer to extract all the goods and has less wattage. It's like the Arizer Air of the on-demand convection portables with much more extraction power and almost instant heat up tho!!.. More of a sipper when used natively (narrower air/vapor path, a little bit draw resistance, but in a good way) . It fills this niche VERY well and is super tasty, swappable batt and semi-temp controlled.
The Milaana is more of a powerhouse where you have some (VERY enjoyable) learning curve. You put the pedal to the metal and determine how fast and hot you wanna go. It will keep up and can easily char or combust.

TL;DR Milaana for a rather short and intense ride (tho you CAN session w/ proper technique), FW for sipping a session natively (but you can really milk on "4" when used thru water).

You see, you can't go wrong. :)

My advice: get em both. Plus the Zion!:tup:

I'll second what vapen00b says here, with a few other points. Mi is fun and powerful through a bubbler! I honestly can't speak to the Firewood 4 - have never tried one. But, know the Mi should satisfy what you say you're looking for, especially for out and about. If you're preloaded and ready to go, you can go from 0 to totally lifted in a few minutes.

This of course is material dependent and depends on how high you're looking to get, tolerance, etc. Sometimes one load is plenty, others you may need a few more hits. Mi (and FW4 it seems) are easy to reload quickly if you have your material in a small jar that the loading end of the mouthpiece fits into. My quick reload on the go takes about 10 - 15 seconds.

Mi is also good for topping off. Have a sesh with it before you leave the house, reload and can take a hit or two quickly and easily while you're on the go.

If I had to chose one, I'd definitely go with the Mi!

Thanks for your answers guys!! I appreciate :)

I think I'll go with the Mi. Zion is very appealing but 350g is quite heavy. SO maybe the Mi now and maybe I'll get a desktop vaporizer if I can convert to that.
(I'm afraid I would use this out and still chain smoke when I'm home --> No the aim is to get rid of tobacco and combustion!! lol)

Do you know where I can buy the Mi in Europe? Because no CE or RoHS compliance certificates on the Mi. I would cry like a baby if it goes back to the US lol

Thanks again!

I think you've made a damn fine choice there, @Venusguy

Where are you? I am in the UK & have no such issue, and I know of others in France & Germany who have also had no problems.

I would suggest waiting for PlanetVape to restock - which will be happening soon. They deliver internationally at very reasonable rates. You WILL get your Mi if you order from them. They will see to it. Here's a link (although currently out of stock) . . . .

Needless to say, I've been loving the shit out of my spalted maple Milaaana . . . . boy oh boy, she rips hard & fast - just how I like it :brow:

And she's absolutely perfect for 'stepping outside' when I'm hard at it, doing my bit supporting the local . . .

Great things happening in RBTland! Totally pumped for you Ryan, keep up the splendid work. Your hard graft & regular progress reports & comms are truly appreciated.

And btw, we're all in the carriage right behind you, bro :)

Love that curved strip you got with the cluster of marks towards the bottom in the left pic. Reminds me of flames artistically undulating up the side of your unit like a tree swallowed by the swirling dragon's breath. Fortunately yours is in no danger of char, and is just very picturesque :)

The Mi is already available at vaped.com, 420 EDC and soon Planet Vape. Zion will be ready when its ready, but I think it is getting close. RBT is hard at work on getting it out and he is updating his site with progress.

I'm sure you will be happy with your choice. Satisfaction from buyers is exceedingly high. Personally I couldn't do without my RBT vapes. Or at least I would be very unhappy without them and I'd probably be going through a lot more product. I love the on demand pick it up and rip it nature of both Zion and Mi. With or without water tools it just rings my bell every time.

Here is a video of me Unboxing the Milaana that I got. :peace::rockon:

First off, I would like to thank FC for having such an awesome classified thread; got a Milaana from a fellow FC member & the experience was good. My girlfriend and I are both very impressed with the performance from the Milaana. Here is a quick Pros & Cons that we came up with ->

Pros:
  • Taste
    • The Milaana tastes awesome! This is definitely due to the all-glass airpath (minus the screen). I love the unadulterated taste of my medicine. :myday:
  • Draw Restriction
    • The draw resistance is almost non existence with the Milaana(I personally like this alot!). Vapes like the Arizer Air, has lots of restriction (IMO) making my lungs uncomfortable after a long session.
  • Battery
    • The Milaana uses 1 x 18650 battery - making it hella convenient, affordable, and I had a bunch laying around :peace:
  • Simplicity
    • Since the unit is so simple there is not much that can go wrong with it; furthermore, it is also very simple & intuitive to operate.
Cons:
  • Heat
    • I find that the vapor is pretty hot. This makes my throat really dry and irritated after a long session. This is especially true when the glass stem is short.
  • Combustion
    • This unit can combust if you hold down the button too long. A problem when you are sharing with friends who are new to vaping.
A review is coming soonish.

@cybrguy Absolutely. The amount of goodies in that package is a major score @VapingDitto . Well done and props to whoever the seller was.

I have a theory that has been bouncing around in my head which i haven't really tested properly yet. Others may already have traveled this way so i will throw it out there....

So, i assume alot of the vape signature with the Mi is from riding the wave. On the way up, and then the 5-10 second pull of vapor production from the residual heat on the way down gives a 'broad spectrum' type of hit. ie, a wide temp range each hit rather than closer to a single heat setting.

Has anyone attempted to hit a narrower temp band, so to speak?

I have tried to heat to desired temp prior to drawing, and then feather the button during the hit and then stop the draw without using the residual heat, in an attempt to get a narrower spectrum.

Anyone doing this? Do you notice a difference in effects? I THINK i can, but it's probably placebo...My problem is that after a couple of draws i forget, and go back to my usual technique so haven't done any extensive testing of this technique.

Further versatility or anecdotal ramblings.....?

In principle it is a nice idea, but it becomes very difficult to accurately predict the temp range at any given moment. The biggest problem I would think is that the heat profile changes as the battery drains, and with no regulations you are only guessing (in my case based on how thick the vapor is) the temp. That's fine when you are just trying to (grossly) get the most you can (or whatever your target) out of your goods, but not very good for trying to choose particular terps by temp band. Personally I don't even think about temperature with Bam Bam, I just think about the vapor thickness.

Zion would be much better at this due to its regulation.

My wooden stems from @Alan came last week and they are glorious ofcourse. That's his photo, I'll be back with more of my own at some point, but need to see in person to really do them justice. One on the left is dark walnut with 14mm tip, middle is 14-14mm tulipwood with glass insert for the Mist, and the right is a regular Milaana stem in gorgeous canarywood.

I've only tried that last one so far, it's quite nice and super cool, but might need to be broken in a bit. Only got one bowl with it so far but it was a bit harsh actually, more so than the stock stem in glass with an RBT screen. I plan to try the two screen method in these though, and also an RBT screen eventually too if I can. They do have a fresh cut raw wood smell in the inside, which imparts that flavor a bit (@beiberhole69 needs one of these wood stems for sure!) so it's not too surprising. Gives em some added character, a special profile.

Will report back the more I use em, definitely glad I finally have nice indestructible Milaana stems, highly recommended accessory. Hopefully I'll get to try them in a fancy new Milaana some day soon... Love how the new guitar picks look @RastaBuddhaTao & @cannabis.pro! Look forward to seeing what "char reduction" technology is all about

@Shit Snacks: from a thermodynamics point of view, wood being way less conductive than glass, it will steal less energy from the system. The stem should thus feel cooler to the touch but the vapor would be hotter because the heat stays into the air stream and is less transferred to the stem.

One could imagine that a stainless steel stem would cool the vapor way more at first. That is until the stem becomes lip-burning hot and uncomfortable. At which point the temperature differential would be less important and the transfer rate would slow down (there must be a temperature gradient)

That makes sense! Adjusting to that, while breaking it in, should help me gain control like I have with the glass as I use these. Thanks man! The only thing that makes it harder to use these constantly is how beautiful they are, wanting to keep them fully pristine lol silly problem

Got my super powered backup Milaana back from my friend who sent his in for repair. This thing ... is just so goddam beastly. This was the first run of the first recessed glass units and the power is just insane. I say this every now and then when I re-use this (v1 I think?) unit, but I can get a full cloud within 5 seconds of pressing the button. 1 second preheat (if that) + 4 second draw is already just a massive cloud. It's quite ridiculous. Spalted ... take a seat for a few days.

Whenever I see my older unit, I'm instantly amazed at how tiny it looks. In the picture, side by side, it doesn't look like much. But when you see someone holding it or feel it yourself, you can tell its just a much more compact unit. It's much squarish and catches me by surprise whenever I see it (she comes out rarely).

the one on the left looks just like the cocobolo vapcap I got.

I broke out my Mi this weekend after a break in favor other units and in my "if I had to pick one" the Milaana is in the top 2. When it comes to convection it's #1 for me. I would definitely sign up for the affiliate thing if I didn't have crippling social anxiety. Otherwise I'd be like... yea!
