The Herbalizer

Hello you lovely people.
This is my first post on here so please go easy on me.... ;)

OK,
I thought i'd pipe up here.
I have a herbie and I've bought it in the USA in Oct 2015 and its utterly rocked my world!
I love it, my wife loves it, all my mates that vape/smoke joints love it!
Its a fully fledged family member BUT (and i guess i'm rambling toward the relevant bit) I am based in Europe with our lovely 220V power and 50hz frequency.
Now my Herbie has seen industrial levels of use since purchase and its worked GREAT using a VERY high quality transformer.
I am an electronics engineer by training and i have no idea why the mains frequency would be important in this device unless it uses some kind of Pulse Width Modulation to control the halogen heat source.
Please enlighten me!
ANYWAY.....
My main point is that as of 2 days ago my Herbie is now sick!
(yeah, go on, you can say "I told you so" but I don't need to listen ;)

Spoke to Carrie who has kindly offered to repair it BUT it'll cost around $300 for the round trip in shipping!
Extreme and I totally understand her position.
Have any of you good folks opened a herbie up?
If so, how?
I'm extremely confident going in BUT it looks to be "snap" locked i.e. no screws visible.
I'm hoping its just the bulb gone and I can order up a few replacements but YES! I WANT AN INTERNATIONAL VERSION!!!!!
This CANNOT be a complicated device inside and i'm as confident pulling apart a Moog Synthesiser, an AUDI dashboard and Apple mac or a cooker and putting them back together with no parts left over so its not a matter of IF I'll open it up, its when!
Any help from you lovely people will be appreciated :)

Just to double check...chongs choice is herbie without the aromatherapy correct? Thanks gang.
........................................................................
That's part of it.
CC
- no aromatherapy IMO, good riddance as never have used this
- No hidden accessory tray in the lid
- Don't know for sure but probably lesser paint job vs the regular Herbie as that would be hard to match in a white IMO

+ CC has 4 set temp points that you can jump between VS regular where you have to work the up/down buttons

CC model seems like a helluva deal :)

How are you enjoying that Volcano bag on the Herbie valve? i just ordered a 3ft bag a few weeks ago as i saw someone using one with the stock easy valve mouth piece but unfortunately it leaks when trying to fill so i figure i'll cut the bag and attach it the herbie valve. I hope a whole trench can fill a 3ft bag. Good thing is i wont need to seal the other end as that part is already done. Watched the youtube video , seems pretty easy to install.

I actually ended up liking it a lot better than I thought it would. It is of a much higher quality than the stock herbalizer bags. I just had a session right now watching the Lady Gaga halftime show on the super bowl cause I have nothing else better to do this evening.

I didn't buy an easy valve bag though. I purchased two rolls of bags that you cut and reattach at your own discretion from amazon:
https://www.amazon.com/Replacement-...8&qid=1486344928&sr=8-4&keywords=volcano+bags

Your local headshop may have them. Mine does, but I had purchased these at a time my headshop was out of stock. I had also called other headshops and they were out of stock as well. Vaporizing cannabis is more widespread in the Baltimore metro area than you would think.

3 feet is a bit excessive when it comes to length. My balloons generally measure around 21-23 in. (about less than 2 feet). The volcano balloons are much wider in diameter than the stock Herbalizer balloons. While I still prefer to use the whip on most occasions, the bags can be nice and quick. The bag will still get sticky and leak vapor after repeated use. However, it lasts significantly longer than your stock balloon.

I bought the roll because when a bag gets old and sticky, I can just cut the roll and make a new one. I can make about six or seven bags per pack. I am still on my first, it just started to leak vapor during filling around yesterday. I usually let it ride for a few days. I still get high and I am too lazy for the wasted vapor to bother me enough to motivate me to fixate another bag to the valve. Since your other end is sealed you should be fine (because you're using an easy valve balloon).

It's just that with a bag that large your herb will become ABV rather quickly. Not that it's a bag thing. You're going to get all the compounds regardless.

I gave it a go with the 3ft bag today , worked out nice but I had to cut the top to get the valve seated and clipped in. I ended up sealing the top with my vacume sealer, it has a mode that heats the bag to seal it shut. Filled up a full bowl and it did fill the bag but stopped half way through and I had to turn the fan back on. I may cut the bag down a little smaller. Even after filling the bag completely at the highest temp my flowers still had some green left in them .

^I am glad every thing worked out for you. I am also glad to read you had some green left for another filling.

Meanwhile I just took the plunge and bought myself the Bent Neck Steamroller. I only had $280 in my account and this shit damn near broke the bank, but I have $130 in cash on me so I will deposit some of that tomorrow to help offset this expensive purchase.

I can't wait to use it! I have been wanting this for a long time. The bent neck is even better. I hear nothing but good things about this accessory so I hope it is worth my money. Oh and I bought 48 screens. I know regular screens can be cut around then popped in and are cheaper, but they still were not all that expensive so I purchased some. I'm too lazy to keep cutting steel screens from my headshop. I'd rather just pop them in.

They come in packs of 24. I'll probably buy 120 when I get paid again just so I can be set for a while. Herbalizer accessories are so overpriced...lol.

I was saving for a mighty, but because I switched from combustion to vaping and refuse to combust even in the absence of a vaporizer I noticed I consume cannabis a lot less now. Because of this I found no need to buy the mighty. Most times I can just wait until I get home to get high. Maybe when I just have $400 to blow I will get one. I live a rather busy life now anyway and most times it is in my best interests to remain sober. However, I have some time off in the upcoming days.

You are going to love the bent steamroller. I'm expecting to see the straight ones showing up in the classifieds. I think I'll keep mine in case of an unspeakable accident.

This has been mentioned before here but I've used wayyyy feweer screens since I started using the S&B dosing caps in the Herbie bowl. It's amazing how clean the bowl and screens stay and you just toss the caps in iso for a while and rinse off.

Enjoy your bent "roller".

Hey all - I recall reading this thread awhile back when I was in the market for a vape and everyone LOVED the herbalizer but it was known for having problems with it.

Over the last couple years have they been sorted out with updates by chance? How prevelant are Herbie issues these days?

Love mine. Would replace it in a heartbeat. Very little chatter for the last couple of years about problems.

The good news: My steamroller arrived today

The bad news: I lost the bowl coupling making the steamrolling completely useless

Curse you dinkleberg...

EDIT: Found out you don't need the bowl coupling for it. About to use it.

My Herbalizer is home at last after 2 years in Police Custody.
Long before the raid 4.5 years back, I had been in communication with Josh and Sheila on a frequent basis.
I had an aromatherapy light that stayed on even when unit was sealed shut (remote mini cam confirmed this).
Josh had asked that I keep using my unit (a very early serial number), so we could study Glitches that may develop from this symptom and promised to fix it later, and add any upgrades.
Now the I got in touch Herbalizer Team (same head engineer and others) to learn if they wanted me to continue my reporting on the progression of this mild malfunction.
They were so excited that I got my unit back, that they sent me a return label and had me ship my unit to them. They explained that they wanted to fix the malfunction, and they offered to implement upgrades, and update the software.
I got to use Herbie for 3 sessions, but now she is gone.
She won't be gone long I hope, but I am here to say thank you to the folks at Herbalizer for caring ... and for remembering what arrangement was made so long back.

I am sure they have got this covered.
Mine is still pumpin after all these years:tup:
Mine was also. Thick vapor after all those years... and same function after being thrown roughly into a bag, and bounced around in the Evidence and Property room.
I could have kept using it, but it was time to relieve it's long term aromatherapy light malfunction.
It was unbelievably difficult to part with, especially after 3 sessions.
I know I have plenty of vapes, but I do NOT have a convection vape ready to rock my world in seconds!
Hurry Home old friend...
I will be waiting for you!

Does anyone use the stash box the hide their material? How is it with concealing the smell? Also does it keep the flower fresh? It doesn't appear to be airtight to me.

Don't hold your breath. The only thing that the company who kicked out the original inventor has done is remove features from the vaporizer. The Herbalizer has been seriously stale in development besides the recent chong's choice model and the steam roller which is just a diffuser tube. There's so many improvements that could be made to the machine but it's just a cash cow now for some board members.

Surely they have to have SOME updates planned. If not another company will eventually make something better and then the board will care
