"It is now two and a half minutes to midnight. For the first time in the 70-year history of the Doomsday Clock, the Bulletin of the Atomic Scientists’ Science and Security Board has moved the hands of the iconic clock 30 seconds closer to midnight. In another first, the Board has decided to act, in part, based on the words of a single person: Donald Trump, the new President of the United States.

"The decision to move the hands of the Doomsday Clock is made by the Science and Security Board of the Bulletin of the Atomic Scientistsin consultation with the Bulletin’s Board of Sponsors, which includes 15 Nobel Laureates. The Science and Security Board’s full statement about the Clock is available online."

Thank you, Mom. Short personal note. My father died fairly young, I was 34 at the time. A year later...a full year later....grief and loss like I didn't experience when he died overwhelmed me for a few months. I would be driving in my car and break out in tears as if he passed that day. It was the strangest thing but this quote is, in my experience, very true. Thank you again.

When the Facts Change, I Change My Mind.
Cod or Science
“Science is constantly proved all the time. If we take something like any fiction, any holy book, and destroyed it, in a thousand years’ time that wouldn’t come back just as it was. Whereas if we took every science book and every fact and destroyed them all, in a thousand years they’d all be back, because all the same tests would be the same result.”

We learn from history that we do not learn from history.

Governments have never learned anything from history, or acted on principles deducted from it.

An idea is always a generalization, and generalization is a property of thinking. To generalize means to think.

The learner always begins by finding fault, but the scholar sees the positive merit in everything.

The only way to make sense out of change is to plunge into it, move with it, and join the dance.
Alan Watts

No valid plans for the future can be made by those who have no capacity for living now.

Trying to define yourself is like trying to bite your own teeth.

As we grow in our consciousness, there will be more compassion and more love, and then the barriers between people, between religions, between nations will begin to fall. Yes, we have to beat down the separateness.
Ram Dass

It is important to expect nothing, to take every experience, including the negative ones, as merely steps on the path, and to proceed.

^^^ My mind never stops, and I am grateful for every bit of all that even though madness lies just beyond keeping it occupied.^^^

“The purpose of life—if it may be said to have purpose—is not ease. It is to choose, and to act upon the choice. In that task, we are not measured by outcomes. We are measured only by daring and effort and resolve.”
― Stephen R. Donaldson
