does anyone make home THC distillate or is that too sciency
This question is way off topic in this thread lol

The answer is mostly no from anyone you're likely to meet. Without an education in proper lab procedure for distillation (Do you mean THC isolate? Or just an essential oil distillate of everything from a given THC containing plant?), you should stay away. The equipment is expensive and can be fragile (especially depending on what you want to do), and you need an organic chemist to advise, or to read lofty lab manuals to understand how to maintain and safely use it all.

This stuff is not appropriate in the home either, especially depending on how you intend to use it. Usually extractors do a solvent extract and distill that, since steam distillation of cannabis plant material is very challenging/not necessarily rewarding). Cannabis has a lot of relatively high boiling compounds and typically requires the use of more advanced vacuum distillation methods. These should only be carried out in an appropriate environment by qualified operators.

If you are trying to make isolates of minor cannabinoids or terps, you also need to have access to huge commercial quantities of resinous flowers to get meaningful returns.

I do not recommend this for home extractors at all for the above reasons and more.

I've also seen what looked like very shitty mexi-brick style bud squish out some good oil so don't worry about not having good enough flower in prohibition land! You'd be very surprised at what you might find if you give it a try (assuming you haven't already from your above post) :D

I know I spend a lot of time talking about how essential the very best quality of flowers are for my concentrates but that is purely in reference to full melt production. Good rosin can be made with much lesser flowers and at worst, I find one might just get less yields if the flower isn't as good!

I'm leaving in a week to Mexico and will find out. Sometimes you can actually find green flowers down there. Flowers are plentiful so yield isn't a big deal. Done ISO with nice results but way more interested in squishing it. Vaporizer is a revolution for mexi. My biggest concern is seeds, was the material you're referencing seedy?

Oh man you'll have a blast with the plentiful and affordable flower there! You're right - who gives a shit if it squishes low yields if you can get huge amounts for next to nothing? ;)

Also Mexican flower found within Mexico should be expected to be of greater quality than import flower from the same place, it is the same in most parts of the world. I would imagine that if there were conniseur cultivators growing there for their own headstash that some of the heirloom landrace genetics from that region could make for some beautiful sun resin from outdoor flowers :D

The low grade brick material I reference did not have seeds because they had been removed. This stuff was not sensimilla lol

@ccchase420 - congrats on your new gig at Left Coast Collective and thanks again for a wonderful review.

Just curious, though....you mentioned that "blue" makes you a bit cautious as it reminds you of Blue Dream which is not one of your favorites. So, what is your view of BD and why do you prefer to avoid it?

Thanks

@Baron23 i don't like the taste of blue dream, and i really don't like the weird hazy high from it. i like both components of it individually by themselves but together it's one of my least favorite genetics by far, the negative hype around it is coincidence to me

www.theccc420.net is live! been working super hard on it with my roommate. forums aren't as snappy as here but the site isn't cached (printed onto the internet..if that makes sense) I'd love to see some of you over there! i'll still be updating this thread of course :)

hope everyone had a good new year. lots more in store for the channel, i was able to quit my food service job this month for something a little more in tune with terpy tuesday and will be able to dedicate myself to the channel a lot more. thanks to all of you for being so chill!

While watching opening I thought "Looks like full melt this week." I have never had full melt or rosin but thanks to FC I can identify.

back with some more higher ground this week, this time their Cookies 36 120u full melt!
Thanks @ccchase420 - another mouth watering review.

By the by, the resolution on your vid seems lower this week than past, perhaps? I went full screen and it was very pixelated, so much that it wasn't really watchable for me. Back in embedded frame it was ok but still seemed the resolution was off.

My imagination or....?

It was not in 60fps either, I wonder if this was shot with a different camera or the video file converted using different settings?

I did notice that the video was much darker than usual, I noticed some grainy picture as a result for sure too (this could be explained if the room was not quite as well lit as usual). I watched the whole thing no problems but the lost quality was noticed particularly in those scenes other than the macro 'agitation shots' (which were still perfect :D).

i swear you guys are the only ones that notice my fuck ups lol. i use my phone (an lg v20, a new phone geared towards videography) for everything. there is a wide angle lens as well as a regular lens, and they really try to sell the wide angle for shooting video...but as you can see on this weeks episode the wide angle video looks like dog shit at 1080p pretty much with jumpy framerates to boot. i even had to resync audio in a few places. as herbivore already commented the macro video looks tits - it makes use of the regular lens. i think the wide angle works well outdoors but in a high contrast environment like my room where i'm bright but everything else is dark it is really struggling. it even did some weird shit where it cropped the sides off my footage halfway through (wtf?)

i have a wide angle attachment that i can put onto the regular lens, but it disables the autofocus which makes things tough when filming. it's a bummer, the wide angle built in would really make life easy but i'll have to battle manual-ish focus with the physical wide angle lens to get the quality up. to make things even more fun i'm forced to use the stock camera app because it makes exclusive use of the built in stereo mic/dac, another v20 feature. but, for whatever reason i can't control my phone with any mirroring software when the stock camera is open. 3rd party camera apps work great with mirroring software but then no stereo mic (the audio without the stereo mic is terrible tinny garbage). my setup used to be basically a tablet acting as a giant wireless touchscreen viewfinder with menu. SO CLUTCH. now i have to get up and squeeze behind a narrow gap between my desk and the wall and physically tap my phones screen to stop/start takes which moves me and potentially the camera.

regarding 60fps that was experimental and i will be sticking to 30fps because the slow motion can get so much slower that way.

probably going to buy a camcorder down the road but the phone could be really killer as an all in one solution if i can get it dialed. once i get it dialed transitioning to 4k will be easy. even with a camcorder i'd need a wide angle lens shooting as close as i do in this room and that's a thousand bucks i don't even remotely have. i'm still struggling getting review material comped every week.

on a brighter note i feel i've pretty much nailed my vocal audio now. sounds good on this one. also there's a chance i'll be able to start filming reviews at work which would be a massive upgrade to quality as i wouldn't have to be stuffed into my bedroom when i film. i'd also be able to do more videos..but i think i might get tomatoes thrown at me if the channels originators don't come back and make videos soon :o

Hi @ccchase420 - thanks for the explanation. You know how it goes, critics everywhere you look! LOL

Nah...I was just wondering if it was me/my laptop and was reassured when others saw differences from past clips also.

Curious, still planning to do an in-depth Liger review?

Damn bro, sounds like you had a lot of trial and error with the new setup (but I guess we always have kinks with new hardware, you should have seen me starting out learning each new extraction technique that I've now mastered! lol).

Holy shit 4k is exciting! I cannot wait to see those 4k meltshots my friend!!!!! :D

Definitely agree 100% on waiting for all of the final Liger hardware to come out. There were a number of initial kinks with Liger components as we know, also some different looking initial components vs final parts which might confuse viewers if you demonstrated too soon. ;)

Hi Chase - what ever production issues you had last week, you certainly cleared them up.

The video quality was best ever, I believe.

Thanks again for a great review. I always look forward to tuning in for your vids.

Thanks for another great, mouth watering, vid review.

But it was a bit painful (out of sympathy to you) to watch you cough and gag a bit. Perhaps a glass of water on your desk might helpful.

And yes, clean that Bates tube, dude! LOL

Hope you get live stream going, that would be interesting and Sunday nights during the winter sound like the time to do it.

Cheers

Loudpack Extracts this week, the super funky Strawberry Banana Haze live resin!
Hi @ccchase420 - thanks again for a wonderful review. Hard to believe that 35 weeks or so has gone by since you first started this review series and I am still enjoying them immensely.

I did recently try to get some Loudpack live resin but the dispensary's menu was out of date and they were sold out of it. Too bad but I will jump on some if I get a chance.

Cheers
