Which tool i can use for cut the glass ? I would like to have a perfect fit in my Supreme V3 like aluminium tube, any idea?

@VAPEHUNTER , What kind of tool are you used to cut your glass stem?
Thanks!!

I have been using just a simple "steel" file, I may have to look into a little better quality one because after about 5 stems my file is very dull.

I got my stems from Gotvape.com. they had them on sale for $1.00 each so I picked up a bunch. They are long bent stems so in order to use them like a "stock" stem I had to cut them.

Here is how I cut down my Vapolution stems.

These were my starting products

First I find my ideal length for my stem and mark it with masking tape.

Then using my file I make a light "scratch" all the way around the stem.

After I have my mark I can remove my tape and really go at it with the file.

Sometimes, while I'm filing the stem, it will break on it's own along the crack once I get a good deep groove. Other times like today it ain't happening, so I must break it.
I simply wrap it in a rag and break it by hand.

It takes very little pressure.

If you end up with a "jagged" edge simply clean it up with the file or sand paper. I just bit the pieces off with pliers.

Now that the hard part is over, a nice little flame polish and were almost good to go.

After a good cleaning you should have a nice finished glass stem.

Now just add your preferred washers and fill with your preferred herb and enjoy.

And not that I have to tell any of you but the extraction of this thing is second to none.

Again Thank you to @lazylathe for being a real pioneer and thinking outside the box with these stems.

Small bit of information for those going down the glass straw route, I know there's many who are interested in this myself including especially having @VAPEHUNTER guide to using steel files on them. I used some cheap mini files on mine, a few got dulled quickly but worked long enough to snap by hand.

I decided to buy in some 8mm glass straws to try and use in the supreme, to cut a long story short they both work and don't work to so degree, they also fit quite snug. I cut the glass straws to the desired length of around 6.5cm in length, this is a little longer than the metal tubes you get in the kit as the interior diameter of the straws is much thicker hence the extra length, plus it's easier to pull out once vaped.

Made some small guazes made of stainless steel mesh from my milaana and got rocking. Let's start with the pros.

Cheaper than vapolution glass stems (for me in the u.k anyway)
Easy to cut, can be made to a longer length etc
One set from DH gate for less than £3 ($4-5) can make up to 12 straws, perfect to have pre filled.
Better taste compared to the standard metal ones

Now onto the cons.

You have to cut them yourself (easy enough IMO and I didn't crack a single one)
Once filled and guazed draw resistance is HUGE, however long, slow draws still give massive clouds
If used without a gauze it simply gets sucked out the other end.
Higher temps are needed, currently using mine around 10c higher than normal (170c instead of 160c)

With these points in mind especially the draw resistance these straws work but work far far better with a gauze and hash or oil only, this is where they excel for me. Adding green material to a already guazed straw just packs them to much, so much so ive ended up ordering two vapolution glass stems to cut for herb only, the glass stems ive already cut will be used exclusively for hash/oil.

I'll be trying out cotton wool as a gauze as I found the taste a bit "off" because of the stainless mesh ball I poked inside the stem and see where that takes me. So far I'm enjoying the experimenting and will continue to do so. These glass straws do work but for me because of the draw resistance and interior diameter ONLY with concentrates.

Just my :2c:

The only place to get them is directly from Ed. http://www.supremev.com/

:peace:

Damn, I might be mistaken but I thought they were also available through an eBay store for a bit cheaper. Conversion + shipping puts it pretty expensive to get here.
Just got a mate into vaping, I recommended this as he would smoke .2 single hit cones all day long and needs a heavy hitter. He just ordered a lotus from the states, so that might tickle his itch. If not I think straight to the supreme is the call (I recommended an evo but was wasn't down with the idea of easily breakable internal glass)

Have you considered the sticky brick lineup?

Ed did have his units on an Ebay store for a time, but no longer does.

Oh that's a shame, thanks :)

@Mister G
Got a home made set up that works close enough to a sticky bricks that I've never been tempted to pick one up. I'll see how my mate likes the lotus and go from there I think. Supreme was my number 1 recommendation to him, but with the website price might be a bit much.

My opinion? The Supreme is actually worth more than I paid for it...but I got the deal that was around last Feb, about $125 for the starter set. I'd pay $200 (maybe more) for it knowing what I know now and still a bargain over many other overpriced units.

Lately my Supreme hasn't been smacking me in the face with that 10 sec. apres hit stupour.
I was wondering about cleaning the block which has been addressed here.
Anyway I cranked the block to 192 c
with a tiny one toke nug ,and I was totally overwhelmed.
So much for cleaning.

I wonder if I find someone to trade my Milaana for a Supreme.... I know, I know mods, take it to the classifieds! :p Not sure yet though... just voicing some thoughts...

The supreme has just totally done away with the milaana for me for home use, so much harder hitter and the flavours right up there now with the glass tubes.

Speaking of which what temps are you guys using when you're pre heating the block and inserting the glass AFTER? I had my very first go with this technique last night as a mess about really not expecting it to work so well , heated it to 170c, inserted tube and straight into the water pipe. Didn't allow any real time for it to sit and heat bath, not sure if that's right or not? Any advice welcome :).

In any case I got three hits from my vapolution glass stem, first was thinner than normal (possibly down to to little heat or not enough sitting time ?) but the taste was just out of this world, just divine. Second was much thicker, much like normal but with a better taste compared to normal heating and alu tube, third again was similar but less taste but still very smooth.

Been filling it with scissor cut up bud lightly pressed down then hash on the top so it gets heated first. Found it best to blow out the old spent weed before it cools to much otherwise it's well stuck in there and a job for hot water and ISO.

Almost there...
@anasrzi

You pretty much have it down! I go 170 to 180 for the initial heat up.
Best flavor at those temps and i rip right away, thin, great tasting vapor!
Second rip is thicker and slightly less flavor
Third hit i rarely take as the second one is heated to around 190/195C and then i am done.

I use small chunks or scissor cut or grind, depends on my mood!
They all work equally well but the small nugs are the best flavor!
I also like to mix different strains in one tube! Variety is the spice of life! LOL!

Always eject herb after use while tube is still nice and hot! Sometimes tweezers help hers.

Experiment away and find what works best for you!
That is part of the fun!

Love to experiment with the supreme @lazylathe so that's fine by me. I do think however I will up the heat a little more to 180c maybe 175c just to see the difference between the two, I'm trying to rip a full load in one or two hits so I'd imagine a higher temps should work well for that purpose.

My grinder hasn't seen much use since I grabbed a supreme, found for me a loose cut up while nug works best. I'm planning on trying a dab in it next week as I could do with a rosin press session to stock up on oils, might go for a cotton wool bed and flip the tube round.

You said experiment didn't you ;)

For one hit wonders, just use a small nug and heat to 190/195 and go!
Start small to find your lung size related to nug size!
You will be amazed at the size of nug you need...

Being impartial I'm not yet sold on glass stems. To those who own both are you seriously not going back to aluminum or is it more of a fashion over function? (i can see my material without having to empty the tube) IMO i'm not seeing the added benefit (it tastes better yet has no visible vapor etc) Appreciate all feedback.

Personally no i won't be going back to the standard tubes as I'm a flavour chaser more so than a cloud chaser so even if my vapours Is a little thinner (which on the first extraction at 170c tends to be) I'm still all over that. Part of it might be style over function, being able to see the end result and also how much material your using too is of benefit.

You'll have to wait for more experienced glass stem users to comment but for me I just love the glass ones after my first true convection hit I go at last time out, heated to 170c, insert tube and inhale. Yes thinner vapour to begin with but the taste is sensational to me, second hit was much thicker and still retained good flavour and finally the third was thick but did lack flavour wise.

I know I need to pre heat to a higher degree around 180c sounds about right, what temps and technique are you using mate? I find too that it's easier to get rid of spent material with the glass ones as you can blow out the spent fairly quickly after it's used unlike the alu ones which take much longer to cool off even with hash or oil, cleaning is a bit easier because of this but being able to see left residue is certainly a big bonus :)

Horses for courses I guess but I do much prefer the glass and a convection style hit, not that heating with the tube inserted is a bad thing, you'll get a bit more visible vapour that way but found in my limited experience it negates the flavour more.
