Good to know so I have at least another 5 years left in life hopefully :)

I'm not even the original owner, Mine is from 2006, from a family friend who used it during his battle with cancer. He eventually switched to edibles and I ended up with it somehow.

Hey, hope your all keeping good...

In regards to the Digi and cleaning of the parts, ( valve, bowl, and outer plastic)
i managed to pick up a bottle of iso at 70%, i am just unsure to the correct method of use. Is it OK to soak all the parts? i was thinking of submerging the parts in a glass of iso overnight maybe.

I got this as a Xmas present and i absolutely love it...... It is not covered with resin, however i dd notice it starting to build up, also the threads getting a bit stiff on it when trying to unscrew it, i want to keep on top of this and try to keep it in pristine condition at all times ...

I did do a quick scan of the thread looking for answers before posting, so thanks in advance..

Hey there -

I have a Volcano Digital with an Easy Valve myself. I took the blue o-ring off the top of the Easy Valve (with my dabber, just rolls off) and then put the top half and bottom half of the easy valve into a jar with ISO and let it sit overnight. Came out clean as it was the day it was made. The only other maintenance I do is that I blow the top part of the Volcano out with some canned air to get rid of the crumbs that might have fallen out of the bottom of the screen. I put a little tiny bit of olive oil on the o-ring and then wiped it off after it had a chance to settle in, just to condition the o-ring a bit. Totally fine. Enjoy!

Thank you for the detailed reply, did you put a lid on the jar to avoid evaporation, (or does it matter?)

Will have it done before i hit the sack...

Is that superx1 as in Winchester Super-X Model 1?

As for cleaning the 'cano, I haven't found the need to soak the parts yet myself. Quick brushing after every load and just use paper towels and ISO to clean up a bit. But soaking should be fine, but they don't need to sit in there all that very long.

Thanks Baron... Username, goes back to a very old Sensi seeds cross...

You got one hell of a collection of vapes i might add, very nice indeed.. (i forgot to ask, can the iso be reused afterwards?)

Yes. I use it till I do not like the color. Some make reclaim.
It will evaporate away if left open to the air.

I also noticed the blink after adjusting the temp, by the way what software version is on your Volcano and when did you buy it? I bought mine about a year ago and have version 1.16 (you see it for a second or so after plugging it in, at least with version 1.16)...........
.....By the way does anyone else's Volcano have "eruptions"? Often on the table all around my Volcano there will be abv dust. It's kind of annoying having to clean the abv eruptions around my Volcano almost daily, but I suspect it's because I'm continuing to use my screens well past the time they should have been replaced, right?

Do others have these "eruptions" from their Volcano and how often do you change the screens? Has anyone tried the generic Volcano screens for solid valve I've seen on eBay? I find the genuine screens expensive and it bothers me they come with as many bottom screens which last much longer, they should be sold seperately.

Same version and approx time of purchase as you!
My habits also cause some abv dust eruptions. Just tells me when it's time to do some tidying! Maybe those fine screens for powdered materials would solve it.

How many draws can you get from a full bag?
I did it for you to check, around 10.
It might vary for others. But you could demolish it in 3 maybe less if you really try.
Considering you can fill the bag with so little, that's quite efficient. And despite a little condensation here and there of the vapor, nothing is really lost if you're open to condensate wiped onto cotton or reclaimed.
And I doubt you'll regret one of these new or used, even Classic would perform great I imagine.
It has always given me a nice break from all the charge battery in advance thing of portables. And I bought and use it for solo use. Very versatile heater for a vaporist to have!

Reading your earlier post of how you're unsure got me thinking of a poster on here a couple of years ago, he was saying he had a retailer that if he wasn't happy with any vape, they would take it back no questions even used. It might suit in this case!
I'm not sure if it was true, I think somebody doubted them and they never replied or mumbled something about VIP, favors or such, can't really remember now.

As the heater is separate to the filling chamber, something tells me if you were extremely unhappy after very light use, S&B (or even some retailers?) might be able to work with you at least towards another of their products. (You could always ask them this first, go straight to them with your uncertainties before you buy?)

I put a little tiny bit of olive oil on the o-ring and then wiped it off after it had a chance to settle in, just to condition the o-ring a bit. Totally fine. Enjoy!
That's an amazing ideas thanks.
I did think of the silicone lubes but no way with vaping.
And only today I saw a frying spray that was based around coconut oil, it might work similar but I'll check if they have an olive one or maybe we should just avoid sprays, I think it was aerosol.

hehehe...yeah, went a bit crazy with the bonus money this year buying vapes and glass. I'm on a budget now! LOL

Ah...I understand now about SX-1. The Winchester Super-X Model 1 is a shotgun that was only built in small quantities in the late 70's and has a bit of a cult following. I have 5 of them, hence the question! LOL

Re: ISO, as replied by others above, yes....you can reuse ISO. I have a small Anchor Hocking Pyrex bowl with a tight fitting silicon lid (got it from the Container Store) and particularly for small parts I just use it as a parts wash. When the ISO gets very dark, I will dry it out and vape it (perhaps).

Man, I really want to grab a volcano to round off my vape collection. I've been eyeing it for years. I'm just hesitant because I've never once used a volcano or even any sort of bag vape for that matter and with such a high price tag I just want Be sure it's for me!!

I was the same way and made my plunge last year, and sadly for my LSV, it has barely been used since I got the volcano...I had a couple vapes before it, but found myself often just packing a quick bong and smoking because I didnt feel like going through the process of setting the vape up, but with the volcano my smoking has dropped an absolute ton and I use the thing daily, I use it mainly just me and a couple bags gets me nice and medicated

I was wondering those with the digit, what amount do you use per load, what valve do you have, and at what temp do you start and end?

I have the solid valve because I like the telescoping size chamber that adapts to any amount, initially liked to fill the chamber half full or more and start at 390 and get several bags gradually increasing the temp to 420-430 to end. However since a while I've been filling it very little, maybe under 1/5th of the chamber however I start at 420-430 and end at 446 (max) and get 2, maybe 3 bags.

I've found that the smaller the amount you load, the higher the start and end temps you need to get a similar vapor to starting with a larger amount but at a lower temperature. If I start a small amount at 390 I barely get anything. So I decide my temps based on the amount I load, anyone else do this?

I also had and still have the LSV, but since I bought the Volcano I only used the LSV once just to remember how it was, and haven't used it since.

My LSV started falling apart after maybe 2-3 years and I decided to get the Volcano Digit after having owned a Volcano Classic twice in the past. I won't be making the mistake of reselling my 3rd Volcano, I got my lesson.

I have a Digit but I use Easy Valves. I tend to start and stay at 385 and then bump to 420 or so at the end to get the last of it.

I do get good vapor at 385 and its easy on my throat. But the Easy Valve does not seem to have as much metal to heat up so maybe that's why you don't feel you get much vapor at 390??

As far as load size, I'm in the .15 - .2 gram range pretty much always.

Yeah same here, my brother has an LSV as well and I hit his occasionally but I just love how much cooler the vapor feels coming from the volcano bags. And while I don't have a digital, I have the solid valve and I usually pack mine just a decent enough layer to cover the screen plus a pinch more, start around 6.5ish and then get 4 bags total (2-3 are nice and thick, last one is a little less dense but good for before bed) moving the temperature up gradually each time

I wouldn't soak the plastic parts. Isopropyl alcohol can discolor and weaken the plastic over time. In my experience, if you soak the plastic parts for any extended period the black will discolor to have this kind of whitish streak through it, as I've seen it happen often on some of the solid valve plastic, because you can't really remove the metal part of the chamber from the plastic housing, but on the easy valve it's a lot easier to just remove the plastic bits from what you want to clean. If the valve needs cleaning I'd use the cleaning brush with the iso rather than soak, but usually it's the bowl that's getting dirty. You could also try the dosing capsules if you really want to keep the thing clean, they'll make it easy (and they work better too.) The new silicone check valve lip pieces are nice too

Yes, i did notice how easy it was cleaning the chamber when it still retained heat. Recently i tried alcohol wipes and they worked a treat.

I did use 70% iso to soak the metal inner chamber and the outer plastic
for 30-40 min the very first time cleaning it, they come out in mint condition ( spotless clean)

I will avoid soaking any plastic next time round..

Regarding the fine mesh screens (two in the chamber) i will be needing to order some soon enough, i notice the prices on these can almost work out at a dollar each and pricey else were which sounds a bit on the steep side. I have noticed them at a lower price but they were not the branded ones... I guess it makes sense to stick with the branded ones ? and should i always use the fine mesh for ground up flower to avoid any matter falling through?

Cheers, and take it easy......

Its true, ive soaked throughout the first 10 months or so with my first solid valve housing, clips eventually broke after heavy use but ive also dropped the valve multiple times which doesn't help, after a soak you'll see a white stain like you say I usually scratched it off but never thought anything of it.

Now I soak some paper towel in some iso an wipe it down after reclaiming with a razor carefully.

Also @superx1 you most definitely want to be using the fine mesh screens bought direct from s&b trust me your bags will last longer and you'll be able to properly vape kief alone without any abv for a 'sammich' method lol I've been using the same fine screens (bottom & top) for almost a year now.

Honestly should be included in the valve sets.

How I use them is the fine screen first on the bottom of the bowl than another regular screen to take the impacts of the brush when cleaning. For the easy valve I do the same thing for the top, fine screen than regular screen. For the solid valve plunger screen I sandwich the fine screen in between 2 regular screens to allow one to brush vigorously without crumpling the screens lol

Yes, i did receive several screens with the easy valve. One of them got pretty messesd up
when it came in close contact with some bubble, (cleaned recently so its fine) now i just sandwich it between the green like you
were saying.

It works a treat and is instant numbness to the body perfect for late evenings. I also have
the other screens which are for extracts i just prefer doing a sandwich with it.

I would love a key ring size volcano lol....

Enjoy your weekend.

Hi FCers,

A week ago I bought a Volcano Classic.

This post will be to answer three Obvious questions:

1. Why did I buy a Volcano?
2. What were the noobie mistakes I made when first using the Volcano?
3. What is my opinion of the Volcano?

Let's begin.

1. In early January 2017 I was stricken with a very persistent and particularly nasty chest infection. I could not medicate, except for edibles. Even the usually very smooth FF2 was useless due to the enormously long draws and associated lung capacity required.

I love edibles and tinctures (I am in a legal state). But they do not work fast enough in the morning for my needs.

I had always known about the Volcano, and how enormously it was loved. But I never thought I would ever spend that much for a vaporizer. But in my current lung infected medication deprived state, and the fact that 3 months ago I spent $340 on a DaVinci IQ, I decided fuck it! I need cool bags of cannabis vapors now!

Mt LHS had one that I knew was available.

So I bought it.

2. During my first three bag fills (highly medicated at this point), I tried to shove the easy valve bag mouthpiece through the loading chamber lower screen, causing warm AVB to fly everywhere. Lesson well learned.

3. WOW!!! This is an incredible machine. I regret only it took so long to get one.

My favorite portables still will be in service proudly. Just not at home. I have found my Mother Ship.

At least for now.
