French Activism

I represent a French association called Chanvre&Libertés NORML FRANCE (= Hemp&Liberties), whose aim is to inform citizens, to support users of cannabis towards access to rights and health, to promote scientific research and to bring together civil society actors in favor of A reform of the narcotics policy.

With the elections approaching France, we have drafted with the support of some political personalities, doctors, pharmacists, and researchers, a petition for the development of research and access to cannabinoids in medicine.
I invite you to sign and disseminate it to the maximum. It would be interesting to educate the FuckCombustion community as a whole about the difficulties we face here in France, as I think many will be signatories.

Looking forward to reading you !

To understand your opponent is to win though, right? To disregard and forget them leaves you with half the info. And then you lose.

Genuinely was curious to her position as I'm not informed well enough. I'll bow out:peace:
Man the party's name sounds like a neo-nazi group before you even get to the policies - I think we might guess the 'flavor' of her views generally  - I am not aware of any statements from Le Pen on Cannabis and I do follow international news reasonably closely in my work. Try a google on that one ;)

If you want to look further and understand the context, and the policies of the movement better, it might help to do some reading about La Pen's father who was the founding party leader who served in this role for the longest time. Broadly, this is an anti-immigration, nationalist and monocultural organization. La Pen the senior found himself in trouble variously for things like Holocaust denial and anti-semitic views that he has vocalized - he's been accused of committing War Crimes in the Algerian war and lost defamation cases against his accusers on this topic.

La Pen the junior has done a lot of work trying to remove the outright neo-fascist elements from the party and this must be recognized (although it is likely that this is simply window dressing - with Le Pen the junior knowing that much of the old party faithful's views are not palatable these days in most places). However, she has been involved in work within the party since the mid-late 1980's (her early adulthood) when some of the worst controversies associated with this party took place and has created a number of controversies herself (although nothing of the scale of her father's insanity!).

It is telling that whilst many are ambivalent about Marine Le Pen, many international players (the Israelis are understandably very concerned about this party), even very conservative ones (Nigel Farage has been cited saying that he has 'nothing good to say' about the party), take a roundly negative view of the French National Front party.

This is almost definitely not news for @latulipe999 who no doubt knows better than we do since we are looking from such a distance!

Wishing you French folks the best in your upcoming elections and in your efforts to have cannabis legalized :) :peace:

@latulipe999
You might consider posting in the international section of FC if you haven't already as I believe some of our French (or at least Francophone) members post there :)

My knowledge of her extends to the point that she is a nationalist, and is getting lauded as Frances Trump.

anti-immigration, nationalist and monocultural organization.

Based on what I just read, seems like she wants to kick out illegals, but I will delve further into it. I believe those same 3 adjectives (basically) were used to describe BREXIT and Trump too, so the skeptic in me wonders if those claims are as unfounded as they were in the former 2, (not denying nationalism period of any of the 3, I mean the race/culture stuff) but I will have to do more research. Thanks for the summary @herbivore21 and good luck France to getting cannabis legalized!

I will only use those terms when the organization is literally that bro ;)

The national front are against immigration regardless of perceived legality of migration - so I call them anti-immigration. Marine Le Pen actually has called for a moratorium on legal immigration! They want only old 'traditional French values' to exist in France (ie: monoculture) and they themselves have nationalism in the name ;)

No problems either, happy to help :)

So what? Immigration is not a natural or conveyed right.
You missed my point man, talk about rights is irrelevant to what I'm saying. The answer to your question is for you to decide. I don't care to discuss my points of view on this here and I did not actually describe my point of view on the pros/cons of anti-immigration views in the post you quoted.

I also won't be going into such discussion here because I visit this place to talk about cannabis :leaf: (also a little :science:) and this thread has already been brutally derailed at this point. This shit is so irrelevant to the OP and I do apologise for any part I have had in that!

I was simply stating that what I called 'anti-immigration' is very justifiably described as such. Whatever your view of whether it is positive or negative, they are most assuredly and self-describedly anti-immigration! I am sure you would agree with that characterization :) :peace:

Easy, my friend. It was just a simple question.

I also don't want to really talk politics in this thread or really anywhere else. Living in DC has given me an extreme aversion to politics of all stripes.

Best to you.

@herbivore21 - One last quick off topic note about living in DC. This weekend I have had out of town house guests in for the inauguration and others in for the demonstrations. It been a bit tiring to keep the peace in the home. All we DC area residents want is for ALL of them to GO HOME! LOL

Take care, my friend.

SUPPORT DONT PUNISH

On 26th June, as part of our global day of action, join thousands of activists worldwide by organising an action in your city and calling for drug policy reform.
