Do you rotate two or more strains to curb your tolerance?

Hello FC, it's Tbone from Canada. Praying you're all doing very well. Thanks for chiming in or reading the thread.

Okay,
It's a pretty simple question, but do any of you use more than one strain in the same day to curb the tolerance of one particular strain.

Do you feel this wouldn't work? I haven't really been able to try. I definitely know it works with a Sativa and an Indica strain if I rotate one for day and one for night time I can definitely tell the differences. More clearly, I simply want to know if you've had experience with two Sativa's (or dominants) or two Indica's (or dominants) that you would rotate throughout the day or even the week, and what did you experience?

Aside from take a regular (quarterly) 4+ day break from cannabis to reset your tolerance, I'm not aware of any success rotating strains.

I tend to buy in bulk, for the cost savings. My preferred strains tend to be around 60% Sativa, and I rarely buy reasonable quantities of anything too far from this. But I *always* buy at least two strains with different flavour profiles, but this is to stop me getting fed up with either one. I only seem to lose tolerance with total abstention, rather than strain-swapping.

I also find you can alter/skew the high of any strain towards a more uppish, sativa high by lowering the temperature. I sometimes do this to break up the monotony, and the abv goes to make edibles.

In my experience, vaping different strains helps me feel each time more than vaping the same or related strains one after the other. Am lucky enough to have a variety (mostly get eighths or quarter ozs.) and write which strain I vape each time to avoid using those with similar genetics more than once a day. Usually vape about 4-6 times/day per current list (which goes back about a week).

Yes, I use different strains throughout the day and different vaporizers. Sometimes I mix strains together. When I go shopping I buy several small amounts of different kinds. Different vapes and strains help with tolerance. I use a higher temp at night.

Way back in the black market days I would end up with the same strain for the whole month. By the end of the month I couldn't wait for a different strain. I would be disappointed if I ended up with the same stuff again because your body gets used to the same strain - the medicated state would get dull after a while.

I rotate 5 diff indica strains weekdays. Since I've been microdosing and have found a dispensary that doesn't mind packing 5 strains in one trip, I can get a gram or two of each. Then rotate them daily till the weekend rolls around. Weekends were made for Sativas (for me). Weekend evening nightcap is indica though.

Ditto! Whether it's called "getting used to a particular strain" or tolerance, this helps curb the dulling and keep the effects fresh.

I keep a variety of strains on hand. I rotate my Sativas and Indicas daily. Sometimes I will combine a couple of strains to see how they work together. However, I always have on hand four strains, two Sativas, one Indica, and a CBD that I use only for headaches/migraines.

Rotating strains is necessary for me, strain related tolerance goes up like crazy after some time.

Maybe if you have less of a overall tolerance, strain related tolerance isnt so pronounced?

I do some rotation of strains... But, just for example, I stock at least 2 sativas in the medicine chest because I want at least 2 different sativas (usually a haze and something less espresso-y), So I'll definitely use them for different occasions...

Fairly regularly, I do have similar enough strains that either would be a good fit for a given occasion and do rotate between them, but that's not the main reason I have multiple strains.

I haven't noticed myself building a tolerance to anything lately, but I think that's because I have a fair variety in the medicine chest such that a vape multiple different strains at different times during the day.

It works for me to do that, but my dealer only has one at a time, so it's usually a month or more of the same variety. I'm so sick of sour Diesel right now! Lol plus my girl hates the smell of it vaped or fresh.

Med State. Clones are available. I have 23 strains in top drawer. I have 3 in kitchen and 3 in Den for daily rotation and I go get a "special pinch" as the spirit moves me. (any wonder I have memory loss?)

I have 19 :) variety is the spice of life

I do get diminishing effects if I only use one for awhile, but to be honest I have had the variety so long that I can't remember the last time I went multiple days in a row on the same stuff.

My guy knows I like variety though so I end up buying more than I need to vape so I don't miss out on a new flavor. Just got some SFV OG and Green Crack the other day, which are dandy but I still have about a quarter of OrangeCrush/Pineapple Chunk. So, I end up shelving that stuff, and trying new stuff, and I'll pick at the reserve stash when I'm feeling like something different. Next flavors, I'll buy some more, and cycle repeats.

...I mix a sativa...hybrid...and indica..together for a "salad"...sometimes I leave out the sativa...depending on mood...or my back pain which flares up periodically ...like today.....I also rotate devices ...it ALL assists in giving the best experience ..

Yes

I do multiple strain grows for the variety and to keep my tolerance it check.
A single strain grow would be easier and yield more but it lasts me a lot longer if I rotate them to keep my tolerance in check.

I rotate strains and vapes but not because of tolerance issues, I do it simply because variety is the spice of life ;)
ATM I have 1 indica and 1 sativa and I rotate them for the obvious reason (sativa daytime, indica nighttime), but no other reason.
I don't really think that using 1 strain for a month kills my tolerance, I can still shitcan myself on the Larry OG that I've been using every day for the last 2 months. If I start wanting something new it's only for the same reason that I would want a steak after eating chicken every day for 2 months.

I just got a refill and it's sour Diesel again! Again! Been over a month now :( It's funny cause I keep telling him I need something new, but he's just not getting it. I'm going to branch out tomorrow and buy from someone else.

I agree with Carol....that's been my experience. I can't tell you the mechanism, but it has seemed clear to me for a long time that you get a bit inured to a given strain after a while and switching up does help. Not sure it helps tolerance, per se, but it does seem to keep the effects more 'fresh' maybe?

Or something like that.

I've found I easily build a tolerance to my favorite sativas. So like others suggested I switch up frequently. I keep about a dozen give or take.

I tend to overuse on new stuff. When I first tried blue dream, I used it exclusively for 3-4 days. Then that burnt me out on it for weeks. But used infrequently it rocks on.

But indica dominants seem less likely to build tolerances for some reason. Maybe cause I use more sativas. IDK.

Super silver Haze is supposed to be a 50/50 blend. I've grown it for 7 years and it's the only one (sativa ish) I've honestly never had tolerance issues with.

I finally have three strains on hand and I'm getting good effect switching them up. One is clearly stronger than the others and I like saving it for when I want or need a stronger high. I don't know what strains I have, but the one I have most of seems the weakest. I got them from three different sources, though...talk about a hassle. I don't drive so I really need to get around town to make that happen lol

I too notice a difference when I change vaporizers. Changing up both the strains and the vaporizers, I seem to be getting consistant highs that aren't diminishing (as is the case when I had one vaporizer on hand and one strain for many years) Now that I know it works for me, I'll always have a rotation of strains and vapes on hand I can help it.

Another trick I use, besides switching strains and switching vaporizers, is to mix the strains into hybrids once in awhile.
A vape session with strain X + strain Y can be a good change-up.

I like sometimes using a few strains for a cannabis salad. I try to compliment tastes as well as effects. I dump left overs into my little wooden box that probably has tiny bits of maybe a dozen strains. That I use on the go in my bag. The wooden box keeps it fresh enough and no smell.
