Do Co2 extracts need to be decarbed?.....

Chezgreendream

First the flavor, then the buZzz settles in....
In order to mix them with oils to cook with? If so, how do I go about it?

Thanks.

But I like it!
Watching for info because I'm not familiar with C02 extracts...

Having said that it depends what you are cooking I think. If you are making an infused MCT oil, for example, you'd just add your extracts to your oil and keep it below boil, with the occasional stir - decarbed and infused MCT oil is your end-product. Then you could add that to whatever - I like it in coffee and tea, or salad dressings. Straight from a teaspoon if in a rush.

I'm trying to learn about C02 extracts as that's what MN Medical Cannabis has---flowers are NOT legal.

Whether you need to decarb is really TOUGH as Supercritical Co2 extract only needs to be 88 degrees F, BUT over 1080 PSI pressure !!! I'm not sure what the hell that pressure does ????
And there is a "Cold Supercritical" of below 120 F AND a "Hot Supercritical" of over 150 F.

It would be nice to know if it is or is not decarbed?

How might one decarb an oil and is there a good edible type use for it after?

Put the oil on a parchment lined baking sheet in a 275F preheated oven for roughly 5 mins, watch for bubbles to stop. Take oil out and it's ready for bake or no bake recipes. I like to use 1gr of cannabis oil to 1 cup of coconut oil with 2 tsp of sunflower lechtin. Gotta know your percentages in your meds for proper dosing, then do the math to break down the finished numbers.

I take 1tsp doses of the finished oil for roughly 25-35mg doses based on my #s.

Would one use, e.g., a shot glass to form the sheet & keep the oil from "running" during that short time?

Anything special to do during the blend/mix process?

I just use a big enough sheet of parchment. It won't run or spill over unless it's not flat.

Once it's decarbed, I'll just mix it into warmed fat/oil then incorporate that into whatever recipe. I like to use warmed oil as the cannabis oil just melts in and incorporates very easily with the wisk.

Dosage math:

1 liq. oz of coco oil = 6 teaspoons.
1 decarbed gr oil = 60% thc
Post infusion dose would be 100mg/teaspoon.

Correct?

Correct, or very close. If you have some sunflower lecithin, I'd add that in as well, that will further dilute it, but I think 1/4 of a tsp is plenty for 1oz of meds.

Pyrex measuring cup .
40 mins @ 240 (convection oven read 215). (Did not notice expected bubbles).
Adding oil w/some soy lecithin gaanules within 2 -4 mins
Mixed for 20 mins or so with battery operated stirrer - while cooling, and no further heat applied ...

1/4 tsp = light headed.
2 hrs & 1/2 tsp. About hr later came on strong. (3:15pm).
S dominated result.
Affects less when body in motion.
9 pm still going - herbalized a good bowl just 2 c ...

A first after 50/50 success with the easy bva recipe.
