OMG! I got through the RMA process and now have my second IQ. I just got blown away by the first session with my IQ. As good as my Ascent is, let me tell everybody in vaping land that the IQ is significantly more efficient and potent than one of the top portable vaporizers (Ascent).
In the IQ, one half of the load normally used with the Ascent resulted in me not restarting the IQ at a cutoff point. That never happens with me using the Ascent. I restart and work the Ascent a long while after the restart point.
This improved efficiency along with all the evolved functional features of the IQ really make the decision to buy an another IQ a no brainer decision. At this point I will be buying a second IQ when the warranty and life of my Ascent expires. I must have a backup vaporizer available if the IQ requires another RMA process.
The DaVinci CS can be difficult to access currently. Not having CS via phone is not desirable for the consumer. I have found that the attempt to use the phone for CS in any way to be non productive without person to person talk. I must tell everyone trying to reach DaBinci that using CS chat on their Webb page is timely and responsive during posted hours. I would like to lift up Tim for his quick and efficient routing of my issues for resolution. My folliw up communication with Tim via chat regarding shipping delays was very satisfactory too.
As always I appreciated the follow up investigation of my RMA process's delay by DaVinci's forum rep. It is good to hear from him via pm about the issues and what he can do about resolving them.
All of the above now stated, let me say that the RMA process via CS is currently delayed, I am sure this problem will be temporary, but this eased my frustration with my delays very little, being the customer without a functioning IQ for over three weeks.
I received an email saying my IQ was being shipped to CA instead of NC. I had not noticed that error in the shipping address when I first read it and wonder if that was part of my delayed RMA process.
DaVinci received my RMA approved IQ Dec 21st and my IQ got mailed Jan 5th. I received my IQ today on the 10th. I experienced a 5 day delay in successfully contacting CS to arrange my RMA authorization by using email and leaving phone messages. Again, use the chat feature to reach CS and avoid this frustrating delay.
A bit about the difference I noted in the two IQs I have used. The second IQ's power button is much more responsive and easier to use for the one button changes mode function. The power button on my first IQ had a significantly less functional response to single pushes than does my second IQ. I would say if you are having problems with the single button push selection
of modes, your power button is substandard.
Also FYI about the five button push feature, many nicotine vaporizers use this turn on method. On the second IQ with the proper power button, the 5 click process is easier than the first IQ. Now it's not a mad clicking until it starts session, seems easier to use.
The IQ is truly a great innovation in the rapidly evolving portable vaporizer market. I will be content knowing that DaVinci's ten year warranty will provide me with a streller high tech vaporizer. Pretty sure though I'll shell out the bucks for the next vap DaVinci develops and sells, even if the IQ is working .

Thanks SC for that well thought out response. Much appreciated. The one thing that does turn me on is Davinci so far is standing behind their product. If my oven cracks, they send me a new one with a part that rectifies the problem (I hope!). I really like the stealthiness and the clouds in the demos I see from the IQ. Thats why Im still leaning toward it

great screename! Love Trailer Park Boys!

I remember @CarolKing was all over the Ascent page with helpful info, surprised she hasn't come to IQ?

True; but that doesn't make it enjoyable! I vote for one long press, or change it from 5 to 3 presses
She said in a post Sunday that she was considering the IQ. She'll show up.

I think you're right. 3 clicks would be nicer and still a very low chance of it happening by accident.

First day with the IQ and so far so good. The button is tricky but you can always just start up the vape from the app. Speaking of the app @Davinci_vaporizer a cool feature for the app would be if you could have it vibrate your phone or apple watch instead of the vape (also a watch app to start the vape would be awesome too).

One more question, is there something amiss with my app with respect to custom smart paths? I have paths set to less than 10 minutes, but for example it doesn't seem to end the session at 6 minutes if thats where its set, the temperature just stays where its set at 6 but the session doesn't end.

I bit the bullet already and ordered the nectar collector. I'm using this convection vape for my cannabis/tobacco/herb mix and I use my grasshopper for just cannabis. I find that I love the flavor of convection and quick effect but as a "former" smoker, what I really like about conduction is the act of smoking. I am finding the smart paths provide the effortless addition of flavor and vapor during the session that with a pax2 requires manually changing the temperature. The gradual temperature increase I find provides better flavor than pax2 bumping it up providing only a temporary reinvigoration of flavor.

Spoiler.

The 5-click routine had me dancing the war dance the last coupla days....:sherlock:

So, I said to myself, what if I add another click.

Well, the upshot of it is that my unit is perfectly willing to come alive and DANCE the happy
iQ DANCE with me.

With 6-clicks. A magic #.

Go figure. :rofl:Sick, Huh?

Been there, smoked that. Cardboard Tampon tubes as well. Eeek.

Back to the Honeybird (my attention issues are kicking in, I should fire up the Vinci to chill) - Main purpose is to cool the hit? You would only use one if the hits feel too hot? Curious what the nectar collector business is. Is the collector to facilitate harvesting reclaim? Total newb questions.

Liking that the DaVinci folks are expanding the platform with gear like this.

Yes you are correct the main purpose is to cool your vapor. Is it necessary? Not even in the slightest the IQ itself dose a great job of cooling the vapor before you inhale it. Of course there are some that enjoy water filtration. Me personally I love bubbles lol. The Nectar Collector is just the name of the style of glass water system. Also used a lot with dab concentrates. Not used to harvest reclaim but to rather suck up your dabs like a humming bird. In this case a HoneyBird .

I'm glad you appreciate our ability to innovate with new high gear. What other types of gear or accessories would you like to see?

As far as the 5 button push...it's not optimum for me but it certainly isn't a big deal. I suspect that this was a much talked about design feature to keep it from coming on accidentally by being jammed up against something in your pocket or checked luggage. I call that a "lawyer feature". The CFX works this way. Maybe others also.

"Lawyer feature" is a good word for it haha. Also helps with saving your battery and the bowl you have packed because you are less likely to turn on the vape by accident. Yes you are also correct other vapes like the CFX, BoxMods, VapePens, and E-cigs all use a 5 button click. We wanted to use something that was familiar and standard in the industry. Not to say it can't change later.

I'd hope you go 2 different directions. Do what others aren't doing. Like a 100% convection portable(I know everyone is doing it but Dav. biggest comp isn't.AFAIK)And go for a more at home experience with a plug in device. Somthing no one would expect Davinci would do. That's my hopes anyway. I mean sure you could do what pax or Mflb and do concentrates but that's a been there done that type crap. Break the mold.

So I used the IQ exclusively all of last week, the other only vape that I would consider "high end "/cost a pretty penny that I own is the Mighty.
What I like about the IQ so far : Its stealthy AF, Flavor remains good thru out the session I mentioned before a session for me is 350 degrees 10 minutes 2 or 3 times in a row.For me the high kind of creeps on you as the session goes along which is a nice change of pace form the Mighty(which hits me hard real quick). It's easy to clean (but I am not field stripping the damn thing ).

What I don't like : The five button turn on, it's ok for the first 10 minute session but after that when I am hella high its a pain in the ass to turn it back on . Also the app goes OFP on me once in a while. It can feel "hot" in the hand but I don't even know if its a negative as my session is long IMHO .

@Davinci_vaporizer thanks for your reply and clarification on HoneyBird vs Nectar Collector, I get it now.

As far as accessories my list is modest and likely some repeats from other posters:

- A slim fittting case custom fit for the IQ, with 10mm mouthpiece installed maybe. I like minimalist cases, just enough to protect the device from bumps/scratches, not a kit case with room for spare batteries, stash cans, cleaning, cords, etc. Go classy like with leather accents? I know BHAGs.......
- A stealth mouthpiece with less draw than the current one, something that provides a draw more similar to the 10mm. Not quite sure how that would be accomplished but I find the difference in draw between the two very significant and I dont use stealth because draw feels too restrictive. Maybe something like the 10mm but the straw part would be very very short and barely poke out of the device.

That's all I can think of for now. I'm pretty new to vaping and this kind of hardware.

Hi guys,
Just got the IQ and wow it is way smaller than I expected. I have a few questions though is a half pack any good? I packed a little herb in there as I'm very picky with my sessions and don't like to vape all of it sometimes. I don't mind packing it full but will it diminish the quality if it isn't full? Also my other question is why everyone is using the extended mouthpiece I've heard a few complaints about it not having a screen like the other mouthpiece but does it cool the vapor more or something?

I like the 10mm mouthpiece cause I think it looks cool and more importantly, much less restrictive draw. I dont have any problems with herb getting past the heating chamber even with fine grind from a two piece grinder. Just a very few stray crumbs in the flavor chamber and entrance to the mouthpiece after every five or so sessions, barely enough to need to clean up.

Partial packs have worked for me and the pack stays in place even if I have had the IQ in my pocket moving around. Lots of folks want a spacer option to take air space out of the chamber when going with a partial load. I think partial pack is the way to go if you won't finish. Much better than leaving half baked herb in the chamber for a long time.

@Davinci_vaporizer What a roller coaster of emotion has been this purchase ! , so I ordered my IQ on Nov 11(Canada) and it finally arrived today (after 2 months and after my first package got lost somewhere during the holidays), YEEEEH!!!....right!?well... NO!

So I have been reading this thread ever since I clicked check-out on the davinci's website, and I've been worrying so much that all the bad experiences that happened to others here would happen to me and with this new stories of ceramic chambers cracking and reading that ceramic is super toxic really makes me nervous(can @Davinci_vaporizer clarify this,is it toxic >are we in any danger if it cracks and we vape without noticing?) .

Well ..surprise surprise! , I got really disappointed when I finally opened it and started to get things out and notice:

- the inside of the box where it came into , the inside face of the opening door of the box , has a "greasy" stain , then I remembered reading that this happened to someone else and someone else mention that might be because @Davinci_vaporizer was in rush to catch up with pre-orders and they messed up , so I'm saying to myself " ok , its just the box "

- then after taking out what it came with I notice the inside corners of the box are all pealed or with some kind of dust and just dirty.

-I picked up the IQ and notice a "greasy" smudged in the flat mouth piece , I did open and check every other compartment and it looks clean, and it turns on .

-then I moved into the accessories, first one I open the carrying can , I open the cap and to my surprise more dirty parts, in the inside of can and can-cap there is some brownish sticky thing in the bottom and something that looks like pealed coating, WTF

-the I moved into the extended mouth piece , and again ... dirty!!! , all around the bottom part of the mouth piece are all these white particles(dust) or whatever , WTF!

-key chain.....same story ...dust all over it! again WTF!!

what a TURN OFF! this was, I'm really upset with this , you know.., how come a product that is that expensive $274(376CAD) comes in this condition ,I know I know some people could say is just some dust,
but I really didn't pay that much money from a known company to get a product that looks like i got it on sale on craigslist (used).

as for the device I cant say much , the only thing I've done with it is turn it on , I really don't feel like using it and I'm also a little paranoid to use it 'cause I don't know what that dust is and if it got inside the IQ ,and I don't want to vape on that mindset ,its not going to be enjoyable!. I will probably clean it tomorrow thoroughly but still ... what a bummer

I know @Davinci_vaporizer might be still super busy shipping new units and dealing with customer service but this is such a let down to me.

was so excited ..this sucks!

any how... cheers!

After waiting for my turn, I heard back from customer service. They are honoring the warranty and making it right. I expect there to be small quirks to new gadgets, and am pleased even though my unit broke, it won't be broke for long!
I haven't experienced a cracked oven, but I keep my IQ between 350, and 375. The highest I go it 380 to finish a session off. I usually don't last the whole 10 minutes, and I give it plenty of time to cool off between sessions. If it starts to feel a little extra warm during a sesh, I just turn it off, and let it cool a bit.
I don't know if it is excessive heat that is causing the cracks or not, just giving my experience with a non cracked (fingers crossed) oven.

The cracks are probably caused by heating and cooling - material fatigue
- everything tends to expand when heated and squish when cooled down this may be the case... the "high" heat itself should not affect this type of ceramic, but material fatigue can develop cracks after longer time

This is my single greatest concern about the IQ. Wouldnt this = a dangerous, fatal design flaw with the unit?

I might as well ask this here.
How many "Sessions" do you guys have with the herb in your vape?

Now I'm new to this Vape stuff and only came about the DaVinci IQ as a present for a friend but I'm planning on getting one myself after using and enjoying it, but I'm not sure if I'm exactly doing it right, since I often find myself powering back on the unit after a 10 minute session (That's how long they last before it shuts off, righit?) and going again.

Now while it's not combustion and all, I'm sure there has to be some sort of negative effect vaping weed that's already been cooked, right or does everyone just pack the device, use two or three sessions in one bowl and call it a day?

I'd assume it's the former since alot of people have been going on about how big a bowl the IQ has and how wonky the device can get if you don't pack it tight so I highly doubt anyone is putting in fresh bud EVERY 10 minutes...but I dunno. A bit of help/insight? Cheers.

My oven is also cracked and I am not sure how many times I have used it since noticing the crack. Does anyone know if these are safe to use while cracked?
