Tincture Advice Wanted: Heated (quick) vs. Room Temp. (a month)

Your canna Coconut oil will be much stronger if you decarb in the oven 240 F for 40 minutes.

This has been verified by extensive testing.

I wish I could do the oven decarb - I know that's better. It wouldn't work where I live though... odor is an issue. I'm considering one of those Ardent decarb units. Maybe it's worth a shot.

I don't know how hot you can get a sous vide system, but if you can hit those temps, it should decarb in the bag (may even work better since most of the oxygen has been pulled out).

The same way you can put the cannabis into a cooking bag and then into boiling water (not hot enough) you can put it in a pyrex or other oven safe vessel and wrap the bag around.

There are descriptions of how to do it, I don't remember how many vent holes so the bag does not explode.

Do not open the cooking bag until it has cooled off so no smell will be released.

WRONG you will convert THC to CBN, but you will still not have a strong THC effect (without eating a LOT of edibles.

Any naysayers can follow this link and view the research themselves :

ok, that's a DEEP ass dive (although bookmarked for research later)

Explain how he'd only be converting THC to CBN and not converting THCa to THC?
(may make some of the charts useful if you're using heating in oil, which takes most of the oxygen out of the equation, and if the sous vide can hit the right temps and it is as far as I recall a vacuum sealed system...)

I plan on doing this soon using Sams method on GS

1. Decarb 7g of bud at 240f for 40 minutes.
2. Freeze bud with half pint of everclear for about 36 hours (this is due to timing)
3. mix bud and 3oz of everclear, shake then freeze again for 2 hours
4. strain
5. mix bud again with another 3oz of everclear, shake and let sit a bit. Maybe 10 minutes or so
6. strain then combine with first batch. Should be about a 6oz solution
7. then reduce on stove down to about 3oz and im done

this sound about right?

no
Step 2 Freeze ethanol and cannabis SEPARATELY foe 24 hrs.
step 3 shake at least 5 minutes return to freezer shake for 5 minutes again.
step 5 shake 5 minutes then strain
6 you will not recover 6 oz of ethanol
7 reduce: AWAY FROM OPEN FLAMES OR PILOT LIGHTS USING PROPER VENTILATION !!!

Ya, I meat to say freeze them separately. So, after a very good staining I won't get close to 6oz?

You always lose some of the alcohol in the process. Some of the EC will remain in the herb no matter how hard you press it. And the filters absorb some as well. Not to worry though, it's all accounted for in the recipe & you'll still recover enough to be useful.

So, had about 4.6g of old dirt weed I wanted to get rid of so added 2.5g of king kush to it and decided to make a tincture. Took it down to 2oz of solution but it was not strong enough. Took it down further to 1oz and that was much better. 1ml dose gets me flying for a few hours.

now if my math is right, that's only about 30 dosages. The same 7g vaping would last me 140 sessions at .05 a session.

My thoughts are that I either did not decarb long enough or the 4.6g of shit weed caused it to be less potent than it should have been

It worked. I tried it last night and it could be stronger but I'm ok with it. I reduced it via a fan and a Pyrex dish and then mixed it with glycerine. A little bit of a tingle. Effects last longer than I expected.

Tried it again today.

I'm still feeling it from 4:45pm. Granted, I put a little over a teaspoon under my tongue. I think the ABV was from at least six strains.
