I've raved about the IQ for good Reason but here are a few things I really don't like about the IQ in my experience:

1) 5 click on/off. Total pain in the ass.

2) battery indicator is unreliable

3) pearl spacer is only good in theory. Laughable in practice. Not to mention it will propbanly tear off if you screw with it.

4) vibrate is too chintzy sounding. Like a cheap vibrator.

5) the mouthpiece is prone to flying out when opening lid. Poor design for swappable a mouthpiece.

6) filling the "flavor" chamber doesn't do anything in terms of enhancing flavor.

Well I love my IQ, but you make valid points here.

They are going to address the 5 click on/off in a app update. Hopefully they can just switch it with the boost, so it's Hold Down for on/off, and 5 clicks to enter/exit boost mode.

Who even uses boost mode? I would use it with precision if I could choose how much it jumps up, ala Crafty boost...

Hoping they also give us actual battery percentage as well, as the icon is unreliable. On the unit would be nice, but at least in the app.

The pearl, like many a girl, is not all she's made up to be......

They are coming out with better spacer options, so that pearl may end up not being dumped (no pun intended) One thing the pearl is good at is burning your fingernail :))

Yeah, I prefer the lower pitched vibration on my Mighty, this one is a bit "nervous" sounding to me, but whatever...

With the stem mouthpiece, you have to try not to push down and unseat it; I've had the rubber come off, many times.

I find that it's the flat mouthpiece that works best; it doesn't move or come unseated. Also, you can stand the unit upside down immediately after vaping and open the lid to let heat out. With the stem, you'd have top lay it down. Also, it stands while loading.

The empty flavor chamber does cool the vapor, not sure why they built up the hype of putting buds in there. Maybe mint or something would work, if you're into that. Btw, has Davinci or anyone come up with a reliable way to remove the chamber without just the lid coming off? I tried the method of sticking the poker in further to unseat the whole chamber, but it was hit or miss. The lead to my metal casing pulling up. I'm not happy leaving it like this and think Davinci should be open to reseating it for me. It's only going to get worse....

Gee guys, I've had my Ascent for 3 years without problems - this IQ looks like more trouble than it's worth (literally)

I have to agree with you! Other than the wispy draw, it performed flawlessly, And it needs to be said, the battery life was incredible, right up there with Mighty and Pax 2, if not longer.
It also had the characteristic where, even if the battery was blinking almost empty, if you shut it off and come back later, you get another session.
Also, the larger size meant you could avoid the heat at bottom by holding at top.

However, IQ is smaller, thicker hits, and even better flavor! Hoping they come out with a heat resistant sleeve to hold it.

...yes...the herb in the chamber is gonna get "up graded" as the oils pass through it...it will be stronger...the longer you leave it in...then yes...you can vape that..as usual...but it will have a "kick"...similar to ageing liquor...hope that helps...there are other vapes on the market which perform this function..

Thanks for that explanation! Exactly opposite of what I thought which was that the herb in the chamber was getting treated with a "convection" effect as the hot air pass over. I should get my IQ today so I'll keep that in mind.

Q&A @Davinci_vaporizer

Registering one's IQ entails a store credit from DaVinci?-- I have an iQ.

Owners of DaVinci and Ascents also get store credit? --I have both.

If so, what are the credit amounts. I am kinda loving my iQ
( with the Nectar Collector & Honey Bird Bubbler combo ), please.

I have admired DaVinci for its "Renaissance Man" Products.

Museum pieces 2B. :nod::clap::tup:

PS Disclaimer. 5-clicks excluded, of course! LOL
I'm trying to find out myself, been trying to register my IQ for a month and the site still isn't letting me upload the my receipt from Vape World. I would love to get a spare battery.

I can't get my receipt to upload either. I bought it direct from them but they still want the receipt. Oh well.

Is anyone experiencing this.?
Halfway thru my sesh i try to connect to the app. When i do that my vape connects for about 5 seconds and it turns off but the heating chamber stays heating my herb to the point that it combusts it. I push the buttons to turn it back on and it wont turn on but the heating chamber is extremely hot. I can get deep draws even tho my vape looks turned off but holding my vape is extremely hot. I try turning the vape back on so that i can turn it off but it wont turn back on. I have to take my battery out and let it cool down cuz it gets very very extremely hot yet it looks turned off.

Suggestions?

The only two things I can think of would be to factory reset the IQ and reinstall the application. If the problem reoccurs contact Davinci and let them know you've already done those two things. I have never experienced what you described.

Hold all the buttons for few seconds and do the hard-reset of the unit, that should help you

ive had my IQ for exactly 5 days and its the 2nd time it happens. Next time that happens i will try the hard reset. Is their anything i can do to avoid that or is that a defect?

I hope you never do. It will trip you out because you can still inhale extremely larger clouds than just setting the temp at 430 but the herb combusting tasting horrible. And to top it off it leaves the mouthpiece with the horrible combusted herb smell.

I guess that there will be an update, do the hard reset now, it wont happen again ... at least it shouldn't

....no problem...glad I could assist...boy there seems to be a lot of negativity on many threads...there is no perfect vape...nothing on this planet is...in my youth I've rolled joints from a brown paper bag...

Brown paper bag - Ugh. Thats probably a threadable topic - all the "less than optimal" ways people have devised to get the job done in a pinch. I shudder to think what I did to my lungs when I crafted beer can bowls. Makes an apple bowl seem downright tasty.

Hey @Davinci_vaporizer you didnt reply at my post ?? My batterie is defective

Hey there, Didn't realize I needed to reply. Yes it dose sound as if your battery was defective have you sent a support ticket to our CS department regarding that yet? If so please PM your ticket number and I can escalate that for you.

Hi all, I've been having some problems with my IQ and I'm hoping someone can give me some advice or pointers. When I take a draw from my unit the temp drops anywhere from 7 to as much as 16 degrees. I pack it tight and full with a fine ground and no amount of experimenting has successfully alleviated this problem. I can literally feel the air blowing thru my hand as it gets sucked into the back of the IQ as I'm holding it. Because of this heating issue my battery life is never capable of powering the unit for more than 40mins. Anybody else has this problem or has figured out a way to remedy this? It's very fustrating because I'm always worried I'm not gonna last the day.

As you draw air into the vaporizer the temp of the oven will drop there really isn't anything you can do about that. As cold air comes in it will drop the heat of the oven. The IQ dose increase the power to adjust for this drop in temperature however during your session.

Guys? What are your opinions on how to clean the area between the oven and flavour chamber? I mean the "tunnel" behind the oven that goes to the flavour chamber. There will be a lot of residue build up but Davinci has no instructions how to clean this area... :)

The best was to clean it is to dip a q-tip in alcohol and push it down into that area to clean. You can also use the included brush to clean that area. The bristles fit in that space and can scrub the top of that cavity.

In regards to the honeybird. Without the adapter, is the fitting a standard 14mm female? Can i use this with other vapes? Dont like the idea of a water tool i can only use with one vape. However this does look like a neat compact bubbler.

The HoneyBird with the adapter becomes a 10mm female joint to attach to the IQ extended mouthpiece. The threads on the Honeybird are 510 threads like the majority of Vape Pens so you could thread in your Dab Pen and use it with the HoneyBird. The honeybird is also a dab nectar collector. Check out the video below.

was on the dvinci site a moment ago,
tried to buy accessories for the iq,
at checkout (paypal) i was able to use the store credit
(20%) from the points,
but the 51$ store credit that where promised when preordering an iq, did not show up!
also when i then tried to use the points
i had to go to checkout via paypal
than i was set back to dvinci for confirmation
and then there was the ability to click on use my store credit
(the points not the 51$!)
when i then clicked on that button i could not check out through paypal anymore,
there is written "use paypal" but you can not click on it,
you can only click an other button that says "use alternative payment method"
when i click on this one, i loose my store credit!!!!!!!!!!
dvinci WTF!!!!
this is poorer than poor,
this was my very last try to buy from your site!
i wait until there are accsessories available in europe
and only if replacement parts are needed for the iq....
as i said before, i like the iq,
but i am deeply disappointed by the company....

The store credit appears when you are at check out in the Order Confirmation section. In the bottom left there will be an option to select payment method either credit card, paypal, store credit, and etc. It is in that section that your store credit would appear. I have no PM's and I see no open tickets regarding your order or missing store credit. I'm wondering how you expected us to help. Please send me a PM with your Order number so I can add your missing store credit or submit a ticket with our CS team.

Great feedback! Always great to hear it helps us shape our thinking when designing products.

@Davinci_vaporizer

At the Davinci website, in creating an account, the required last name field is missing......:hmm:

Also, there seem to be some issue with the bottom fields.

The upshot of the missing field is an error message: "Last name field is required".

A catch 22.

I would also like to know how to get credit for having taken part in the 2nd Davinci survey; & how
to register one's iQ.

Thanks!

The credit for your survey would have been added to your Davinci user account before Dec. 31st. If you haven't gotten it. Send me a PM with the e-mail you used for your user account and I will double check that for you. Also as far as your registration issues. I will have our Web team take a look at our site and see what is wrong.

I picked up two batteries with my store credit and found this sticker on one of them. They're advertised as 3500mAh on the site. Has anyone else noticed this?

UhW5tKk.jpg

That is a mislabeled package. We only order 3500mAh batteries.

This image is very disconcerting to me. Ceramic is manufactured using particle masks so as to no inhale the powdery ceramic - apparently it is very bad for your lungs.

Now, DaVinci has already come back to say that all of the units will have a single, perfectly straight crease as part of the manufacturing process. In the above image, that is the crease to the left. I too have this. I am not concerned about that one as much.

But, @Davinci_vaporizer should we be concerned with ceramic cracking? How do you theorize this could have happened given that the units were stressed tested. Hoping it is an isolated event.

It's tough to say what exactly has caused the cracking in these bowls until we actually receive them back and examine them. We'll have to look into exactly what it is.

I'm trying to find out myself, been trying to register my IQ for a month and the site still isn't letting me upload the my receipt from Vape World. I would love to get a spare battery.

It could be that the file size of your receipt is too large.

Been there, smoked that. Cardboard Tampon tubes as well. Eeek.

Back to the Honeybird (my attention issues are kicking in, I should fire up the Vinci to chill) - Main purpose is to cool the hit? You would only use one if the hits feel too hot? Curious what the nectar collector business is. Is the collector to facilitate harvesting reclaim? Total newb questions.

Liking that the DaVinci folks are expanding the platform with gear like this.

IQ owners: If you had to do it again, would you? Im really freaked out about all of these issues for the money. I mean, Davinci has been good PMing me and giving me feedback. They say they will warranty and ceramic cracks but if its a fundamental design flaw...it might not be fixable. Plus the 5 button turn on/off seems like a huge pain in the ass. Why on earth would anyone think this is a good idea? I wonder if they can fix that with an app update??? Its either this or an Arizer Air....

I have had my IQ for about a month and I would totally do it again. It is an amazing little vape, with or without the app.

It looks like some people have had issues and that happens sometimes with new products. Only you can make the cost vs risk decision. In my experience Davinci has great CS and stands by their products. There were also problems with the Davinci Ascent and they stood behind them and slowly but surely worked through it all. Today, the Ascent is still a great vape.

As far as the 5 button push...it's not optimum for me but it certainly isn't a big deal. I suspect that this was a much talked about design feature to keep it from coming on accidentally by being jammed up against something in your pocket or checked luggage. I call that a "lawyer feature". The CFX works this way. Maybe others also.

The Arizer Air? Great vape. You'll love it. I recommend one of the Planet Vape stems. As far as choosing between the two....can't help you. I love and use them both. The resident Air expert is @CarolKing . She can answer any of your questions.

Good luck with your decision. Cheers.

Thanks SC for that well thought out response. Much appreciated. The one thing that does turn me on is Davinci so far is standing behind their product. If my oven cracks, they send me a new one with a part that rectifies the problem (I hope!). I really like the stealthiness and the clouds in the demos I see from the IQ. Thats why Im still leaning toward it

First, sorry for my Bad english

@Randy Lahey I have a arizer air and a IQ. For someone that like big session like me the IQ will give BIG cloud, i make 1 session of .30 with my IQ for 2 or 3 session of .15 per session with the arizer air for barely the same result. They are both very efficiency. I don't like the air flow of the Air and if you pack it too tight its worst ! The air flow of the IQ with the long mouth piece is just insane ! With the same battery, the Air will last longer but heat up in 1-2 minute and you have just 5 temperature setting. If you forget the glass mouthpiece the Air seem too be more solid than the IQ. I've trow my Air a lot of time on the ground and I was never afraid to broke it. The IQ seem to be solid, but the moving part and the ceramic chamber afraid me a little bit...The three reson why i've change my Air for a IQ is the better air flow, the bigger bowl and the easy of use, the air is easy to use but the IQ is easier. If you just want to vape sometime, you don't need a lot of herb to be happy and you don't care much about the air flow i will go with the Air. If you need a lot of herb too be happy, i will go with the IQ, one session and you will be happy.
