Here is an experiment, did an inlay of snakewood on a frame.
oIkpNvB.jpg

This isn't too hard to do and if there is interest I can offer it as an "extra", not sure how much more it would cost but it isn't going to be cheap. There are a lot of wood options for inlays, purpleheart, canary wood, palm, zebra wood and that is just a few. I'm not comfortable putting the inlays on the heater side since the glue would probably melt over time.
Just doing this and that stuff today cuz tomorrow I leave for a warm sunny sandy beach in the Caribbean
When I get back I have 10 frames ready for assembly and 30 more frames ready to be machined so I should be able to crank out a couple dozen units later this month.

Ok really I am leaving on vacation but I had to try this. At first I thought it would be awesome, then I thought it didn't look so good, but now it is kinda growing on me. What do you think, yes this would look good or not so great.
q6HsE9T.jpg

from the bottom up the layers are canary wood, yellow heart, cocobolo, yellowheart, canary wood, purple heart etc. The middle dark area is a darker purple heart and cocobolo. The finish is a little rough, this frame has problems and won't get to be a real Touch.

Ah I love the extra detail, looks good. I also love purple heartwood, even got a vapcap stem made out of it.

Just found out that the postman tried to deliver my MVT on the 30th of december but forgot the part where he leaves a paper to let me know about it!!

Re-delivery scheduled for friday, but not happy with the postman :(
The same thing has happened to me 2 or 3 times recently with USPS, never got a slip. I thought it was just my mail carrier saying fuck it and skipping whole neighborhoods for whatever reason.

My mailman has always been a boss about it even when I've moved lol that sucks guys.

@mistvaporizer I like the Snakewood a lot but I'm not a fan of the other one but just like, my opinion man :D too much going on for me but a full inlay of Cocobolo (specially the one in middle) or the Purple Heart would look really snazzy I think. I like the inlay as a contrast to the rest of the wood! I'm more a fan of one wood but to each their own, if you ever did exotics I would certainly buy one :)

Have a fun vacation!

The inlay is neat, especially the layered one - I don't know if I'd pay any sizable extra amount for a unit with it though.

Enjoy your vacation.

Also, to those with USPS issues - get a myUSPS account and use the webpage tracker or the app. It makes my life much less stressful when I'm waiting on packages (like I have been the last 4 months straight) as everything gets updated and is all in one spot.

It also helps that any packages that are scanned in with your address as a destination automatically get added to your dashboard so I'm not worrying myself waiting for shipping confirmations and tracking numbers.

You can also specify instructions for delivery.

My mailman is a boss and I'm disappointed in myself for not getting him a giftcard for some DunkinDonuts or some shit for christmas.

MVT on the house! The postman just deliver it and I'm gonna wake and vape right now

First thing I noticed: This unit looks and feels solo, like a finished product not a "beta". Let's put some citric "jack the ripper" and see how good it vapes

Edit: One thing that has me worried is that the stems have a really rough edge, like not properly finished and I'm worried if that's fine or I should maybe try to flame it a bit? Are yours the same guys? I dunno, looks sanded too roughly and I'm worried it break an inhale glass particles :tinfoil:

Edit 2: Wow, this vape really packs a punch!! I'm not a micro-dose guy anymore but tried a regular (it's a small one) bowl and what I would call a micro... Damn this thing is amazing, everyone that likes to microdose should have one and if you like flavorful clouds, get one too!!
For the price is a steal!!

Yeah, my stems came roughly sanded. I just rinsed it really well under some warm water with soap and called it a day.

I remember the first time I tried this vape I really liked it, but I was a little let down. It just wasn't performing crazy amazing like I thought it would from the thread. I got good flavor and light brown abv though so in the end I was definitely happy with it. Second session I realized the battery I put in had been one of my "needs charging" ones. I'm surprised how well this thing did on a low battery. Put in a new battery and it was night and day, melted my face clean off. I'm just impressed at how good my impression was of this vape running on a 10%-20% charged battery. Most the time that level of charge just leads to frustration, I most certainly did not end up frustrated.

Also enjoy your trip.

Milaana. Lana. LANA. LANAAAA! (TM2/TP80/BAK/FW9)
This must be in the thread somewhere but the search didn't find it- what are the main differences with the milaana?

Come on Mags, it's not even that long yet! :p

http://fuckcombustion.com/threads/mistvape-touch.23205/page-12#post-1055580

I think I may have discussed it a few other times even, it's bound to come up because of how similar they are (Dave actually designed the Touch after we met in person and had a Milaana session so he could see why I enjoyed it so much, how simple it and effective it is etc)

But to sum up again, here can only use 14mm, but @Alan makes stems for both units (wide variety of stem designs with glass and wood, silicone and screens, Milaana you also get @DDave (though his 14mm stuff works here) @cannabis.pro and PlanetVape making aftermarket stems... Anyway so stock stems and screens also differ significantly (Mist is still improving theirs too, I have an old longer one and a lot of people discussed the rough cuts, more fragile vs RBT's whose screens are also tougher, but the new ones will be more polished and the color ones seem thicker) So Milaana can hold more than Mist potentially, and both can hold very little or anything in between

The style is a bit different as you can see, in appearance and practicality--the touch button vs the big tactile one, air intakes and battery doors, Mist battery must be positive end up Milaana negative up (or either really, in Mist opposite is no bueno) Mist has the battery door flip for safety, Milaana will have the guitar pick mod standard soon... The wood is all quilted maple with Mist for now, and it's just a different build quality, boxier yet sleek, not as polished I'd say but again it's early and still improving of course (Milaana evolved a bit that way too). Size wise they are very similar, Mi may be thicker but sleeker and more solid feeling, while MVT has the h shape/portholes/name tattoo

In Mist the glass tube can actually spin and come loose if your stem is stuck, since it's not epoxied like the Milaana glass, and Milaana has 3 screens for its heater screen that are a friction fit whereas Mist's is just one carefully placed (but that is supposed to improve too, with a ledge in the glass for the screen like the stems have/will have). Both have pretty open airflow, Milaana moreso bc of the 18mm and intake too, while Mist you can try covering portholes... Both can get even extraction depending on technique and/or stirring

Then of course there's prices for various kits and accessories included, timelines and people involved, but the biggest difference actually can be the trickiest to notice... That sounds crazy, but yes these are both maybe the most effective and flavorful battery-powered on demand pure convection portables with very similar designs and materials aside from the differences I just laid out, however the real difference comes from something only a real vaporist would notice: their heaters. Sure they both work great, but they are very different designs. Both stainless steel too, but Milaana has way more surface area (plus mica as an insulator to help make that possible) so it can retain heat better and it actually also heats up slightly faster (latest consistent units at least). That being said the MVT heater is a fancy shmacy would stacked pancake coil that is no slouch and works phenomenally (especially compared to my beta parabola coil) though it actually runs on ~8 watts less power I believe... So despite being so similar they really do each actually offer a unique vapor signature, to a true connoisseur at least

(I guess no need to search or read the thread when I lay it all out like this for you lol :D)

What lenght of wire is needed to make a stacked pancake like this? And what is its resistance and wire thickness? I would love to make one for my Project to try it out! :brow:

In the end I flame polished my stems with a torch and they're fine now :)

What I realized today is that the battery is really lose inside, it moves. Is that normal? It's really lose, I can feel it moving inside...

Edit: In fact, it stopped heating :( should I open it? Not sure what to do now :S

Edit 2: Damn!! I didn't write to Dave because he's on holidays and I didn't want to bother him, so instead of that I just asked here for some ideas.

It took 5 minutes for him to send me an easy solution that I'm gonna try right now!

In the mean time I found a way to make it work:

With just some rubber band to put pressure in the middle it works, as soon as I sober up a bit, will try Dave's solution.

Amazing CS! :rockon::rockon::rockon::rockon:

Yeah my battery is loose like that too, and my door doesn't fit flush like my beta did and has a gap (I still owe a photo comparison don't I?) But fortunately I haven't had any functional issues as a result. Glad Dave took care of you, even on vacation, the man is a saint ofcourse

My unit came couple days back, I just got to try it and I think I have some issues as well. My battery is loose as well so in order to start heating I have to push the door down with my thumb. That's not the only issue though. As soon as the battery is in and I push on the door it heats, no matter the state of the touch button. It'like I had loose battery door and at the same time the button is in pressed state all the time.

Am I doing something wrong perhaps? I use LG HG2, put the battery positive side up, double checked for that, I don't know what else to do or try, any ideas? Also I noticed faint electric burn smell when sniffing around the battery chamber, could be something failing?

I've had that issue on both my MVTs. Dave even sent me another door but it didnt fix the issue. I wrote about my fix a few pages back
