Holy shit dude, thank goodness the GH has such small batteries with safe chemistry.
Could have been very dangerous, be careful with those batteries!

woooow....shiiiiiit dude..it was a matter of some extra time that my jacket could have exploded while me driving.. what a nice 2nd new year's day would that have been..

Ya' think? :o

Yep, sounds like you shorted the battery with your keys. May I suggest more caution with Li Ion batteries....particularly if you like the body parts that in the vicinity of your pants pockets!! :ugh:

I'm very glad that this did not go further awry, but it easily could have.

NEVER store high discharge rate Li ion batteries with uncovered terminals as its an invitation to problems.

Cheers

To prevent such probs there are the different batterie caps/-sleeves from @Ratchett.

Hope mine, aside of much more of Ratchett's stuff, will arrive soon.

Thnx for the advice guys.. I never was very good at chemistry & physics but I've definitely been lucky after this one.. :sherlock::ninja:
This was the only time that I had a battery carried outside my small Lotus leather case I have for them..and most definitely the last one as well...!!!

Hey man, thanks for the air stem suggestion.
Glad you liked it. Wait until you try it as well!

Been following the Project thread and seen how happy you are with the results, how does it compare to the hopper in terms of vapour production and ease of use? I'm guessing the battery life is better
Similar vapor production, much more open airflow, as easy to use as the hopper battery choice is really big. I am rocking two 3000mah in a Cuboid mod box and the last for more than 10 bowls I think. Only think that the stem needs 1/4 of a turn every hit to bake the load evenly or a couple of stirs depending on the temps. Taste is much much better than the Hopper though. No problem of anything breaking also, I can fix it myself! :p
I especially like the idea of the project/vapcap combo. I feel like that would be a close approximation to the hopper in terms of heat and vapor. Especially if run through a water tool.

You mean the VC as a Project's stem for convection hits or the Project as a VC heater for hybrid hits? It can do both.

Agreed. I havent felt any urgency to get my GH fixed recently as its a little redundant to me now with a vapcap and the the Project/Eraser dialed in.

Just did, worked well, very well actually. Obviously not as good as my Orbiter but that's kinda comparing apples to oranges. The Air Stem is a portable, won't leak in my pocket and doesn't result in an awkward "is that a bong in your pocket or are you just pleased to see me" comment.

Yeh good tip on the Air Stem man, also good source of reclaim if that's your thing.

Similar vapor production, much more open airflow,

Ha Yeh I definately make my hopper whistle as I like to draw fast, a little more practice and I may actually be able to play it like a tin flute. :D

Yep I definately like the idea of a cuboid mod case that can take multiple 18650's. Wish I could drive a 3D printed heater from a cuboid.

Truth be told I don't mind the hoppers small 750mah batts, they last me a chamber (8-9mnth old GHB1's) and are easily swappable on the go.

However it would be awesome if HL could release a home power brick that can push enough power to drive the hopper even if the battery is drained. It would mean at home I'd never have to swap out the battery between bowls. Someone about a biiiiiiillion posts back had hacked a case holding 4x 18650's into a sort of MFLB style power adapter for the hopper. Looked good, was kinda hoping to see some more about that. Every time I unscrew my backend I can feel the Ti treads grinding away, less batt swapping can't be a bad thing.

Project as a VC heater for hybrid hits?

I was actually thinking of the second scenario "Project as a VC heater for hybrid hits". Well OmniVap or VonG using a Project heater. I think I'd like the Omni but can't be bothered with torch lighters as a primary heat source.

With all the comments that I had read from the beginning of this thread, I have never used their charger... I've bought a nitecore d4 and I'm only charging my batts there.. I think that by doing so, you get rid of a possible cause of failure..
You just need to get an extra 3-4 batteries and an external charger.. that's all.. NO HL CHARGER FOR ME...

As a counterpoint, I've only used the hoppers oem charger. Though to be fair I've only put about 10 or so charge cycles. And I've got the latest version of charger and battery.

So, question for all you fine folks who own multiple hoppers: why do you own multiple hoppers? Love it enough to not want to be without one during a warranty claim? Like them in multiple locations? Color coordinate with your outfit? His and hers?

Hi for me the reason I have 2 hopper's is so one breaks down as they do I have a spare.not nice to be without a working hopper.

There is already a thread for that and is moving on great but man, Vapcap is not even close to Hopper's performance! :freak: Apples and oranges really! VC might be great at many things but it sure can't outperform Hopper in vapor production and taste... ;)
If and when Hopper gets to be more reliable and with somehow improved battery life (cause they crap out really quickly...) I am getting on that train for sure! Not yet though... Can't afford it. Still an expensive game for me. :)

Having my (or better my gf's) Hopper since two weeks (Xmas gift to her). Like it more and more. Maybe it will get love.
Disliking vapor temp. Actually working at 3.2-3.5 for hazy flavour hits (3-5) then uptemping to 4 w/o or 5 w/ water tool. W/o one vape is getting to hot IMO (and I'm still a combuster!) and Backend is getting pretty warm (most people would say 'hot' but I'm a passionate hobby chef and can hold really hot stuff) after a long and fast draw at 4-5.

I already love form, handling and stealth factor, hope someday I'll love all of this pretty little shitty thing after an intense learning curve. ATM I'm always a little bit anxious. Will it stay? Temperature normal or bad backend? Oooh, some flickering! I'm really alerted, maybe nearly paranoid after all of your (bad) experiences here on FC over months.

First time I've tested the Hopper in June and I was absolutely excited about this thing. That was the reason for me to enter FC for more researches. Thanks for that, Hopper!! I'm deeply grateful. Love this forum and its users .

After all bad news here about the Hopper and its performance I hesitated to buy one for half a year, permanentely waiting for an all-clear, no more probs with the hopping pen. It was waiting for Gordot but I finally got a victim of my eagerness and couldnt resist anymore.

I have the SS and would like to buy a Ti too but its to risky to me. So I'll wait for technical improvements in hope to get a permanent functional device with no troubles anymore - some day.

Up to then there are some very interesting devices to buy as a backup w/o such danger of malfunction.
So I bought the Sticky Brick jr. for herbs the last days. Awesome! Not perfect for on the go but always reliable, tasty and powerful.
Next one for me will be the OmniVap/VC ti woody esp. for no full melt hash. These are well performing backups with no risks and someday when (if?) there will come an all-clear I'll buy a ti GH too.
But atm I really dont understand why to buy more than one of these unreliable lovely fuckers? Sometimes I'm a danger freak but not in this case. It's like falling in love with a slut while you know she is one. You get the warranty to have the best times in your life but the worst ones too :2c:

Enough striptease of my soul! Keep on hopping!

It seems to be a kind of masochism or humility exercise? Or just addiction? ;)

We are doomed to the absurdity of this obsession, seeking meaning when we are incapable of grasping it. Like you, rather than continuing my inner dialogue between Gogo and Didi, I stopped waiting. Before the second act began, I got online during intermission. My SS Godot was sourced from your side of the pond. Then I ordered the TI directly from GHL, because I want to see how the play ends.

Just popped in my mind, had this type years ago, maybe cheap small portable hopper mouthpiece?
3pcs-lot-Wood-font-b-Foldable-b-font-font-b-Smoking-b-font-font-b-Pipe.jpg

Wonder what the bowl sizes is and why no one can't just make a hopper sized threads into such a foldable mouth piece?

That is how this started actually, me searching "foldable pipe" :D

Maybe just buy the Firewood 4.0 mouthpiece OR make my own

But need to get a new handsaw so it look pretty

Moving forward we will be delivering accessories which were delayed in favor of getting everyone their units first. We will be tackling leather sleeves, water pipe adapters, and metal cases first. Updates on the progress of these will follow in the coming months.

Just a thought here: That SS case idea? If I'm not mistaken, that GHL case is tubular; If it will roll, then it's definitely not for me.

So, question for all you fine folks who own multiple hoppers: why do you own multiple hoppers? Love it enough to not want to be without one during a warranty claim? Like them in multiple locations? Color coordinate with your outfit? His and hers?

Yes to all, actually (well, the first two, really)... I have two: One for daytime Sativa-dominant, and one for nighttime Indica-dominant.

Speaking of this, I sent my grey Ti in for diagnostics as the new backend seemed to make the output "anemic"; thin clouds, no holy-shit hits.
I'm left with my raw Ti, and now I think something is up with that one too. Same issue... suddenly I feel like it's just not performing... AND it's just about battery-recycle time, so I wound up trashing all my 5 original GBH-1's, one by one, introducing new GHB-1's, but still, it seems like I only get hits worth writing home about are at T5.

QUESTION: Anyone else have this issue? Higher T's necessary to get clouds? I'm using herbs from the same stash, and it's dry, as I always ensure. It sucketh greatly that I don't have the other Ti to make comparisons with. Speaking of Shakespeare,

Same, I cancelled my SS case and got a spare plain Ti mouthpiece instead. I already have a few 3rd party cases that I'm quite happy with.

I only run my hoppers at T5, not noticed any reduction in cloud production from my purple but the g
Green Ti is definitely a little lazy. Waiting for it to die so I can warranty it. Changing batts or swapping backends makes no difference, it's my Green Ti's body that's weak.

I bought two hoppers so I had a backup unit for when the other was in warranty. It's nice to have but in retrospect, for me, it was overkill and I'd rather have gotten a different backup vape just for the greater variety.

Hey thanks, Green. Seems like an identical thing here.
And now that you mention it, I agree completely, that rather than have two hoppers (given the temperamental issues), having something else like a Firewood would be wiser.

The worst part of having a temperamental hopper is the battery circus that ensues. Start this Ning, "top off the battery and try again", "try a different battery"... Oy!

So they want me to pay $40 USD to ship 5 batteries ($35 USD) to Australia.

I don't think I'll bother...
Daaamn. That sucks. I just had a look at ShopMate via AusPOST, which gives a US address forwarding service to Australia. Unfortunately batteries can't be sent with the service, but there might be third party options that will. There might even be options cheaper than DHL too, or there might be a slower option that is cheaper with DHL. I would ask Caroline to find another quote, because for a tiny package that is an unreasonable cost, but it is considered to be dangerous goods so $40 bucks might be the go.

At the full $75USD price for 5 batteries, they are only 2 bucks a pop on top of AusVapes price of $18.95AUD ea. before postage, for proprietary batteries it's not terrible. But I feel your pain and I'm not looking forward to my next battery order! Though it'll be a long while before then

why do you own multiple hoppers?
A few months after pre-ordering back in '15 I added a second unit for the limited reduced price of 175 (HL gave everyone who waited a free battery and a cheaper buy in).
I got it because the failure rate was very high at the time and postage to Australia takes ages, the price was still cheaper than any other viable options I found, and that way I could use both simultaneously.

The next day I bought one from Vapefiend, sold my original pre-order to a friend at cost and got my first hopper 6 months before I received my pre-order.

I figured that it would be so easy to sell a unit there was little risk in buying lavishly, so I added another unit to max out the purchase price whilst avoiding all import tax.
After using the first one, experiencing it break and being made to go without for a few weeks had me very tired of my EQ and very keen to finally get the back up GH.
After finally getting the back up, having perpetual hoppered days since has been overly worthwhile.
The hoppers have seen some cool places with me, they're tiny and easy to lug around everywhere.
Plus when both are in peak performance, which has been most of the time, simultaneous use is next level.
When both are working well, I do find it overkill having two of them and generally only use the blue one.
But if I had the chance I would do the same every time.

Yea when you compare to the AV price it's not so bad... I've looked into forwarding but didn't see many options cheaper.

I'm waiting to hear back how many I can get while keeping it at $40 postage. I am acquainted with 2 other Aussies with Hoppers who might be keen. If I can get say 15 and split it three ways it will be $67 AUD for 5 batts ($13.40ea).

Also it makes me sad seeing people recommend vapirisors that aren't available in Australia yet :(

E: Have you seen this from Aus Vapes review?

Hopper Labs won't support this product in Australia.

Hopper Labs will not send Aus Vapes spare batteries.

Hopper Labs knowingly sent beta units to Vendors for sale to customers.

Hopper Labs support for the beta units (I have one - that can be confirmed by checking the serial number on the box) is to replace the unit outright - this can't happen in Australia.

Hopper Labs has a lifetime warranty on this product but seemingly that is only applicable to US/Canada customers only - International customers luck out there.

Staff at Aus Vapes have been very helpful trying to resolve issues with the product but Hopper Labs have ignored them up to this point.

Problem is - no batteries, no spare parts.

I had to buy a Arizer Extreme Q to get by while Aus Vapes wait for batteries to ship that have been on back-order for over 12 months.

So for me, only wanting one stealthy portable vape, I have had to spend an additional $230.00 just to get by while I wait for batteries.

Don't buy this unit - that's not an issue with Aus Vapes but knowing how widespread the issues are with the unit and Hopper Labs lack of any support outside US/Canada this unit can't be recommended.

I would give 5 stars if the unit actually worked as advertised and I could buy spare batteries but am giving 1 star for Hopper Labs ongoing disregard for it's paying customers.

Yeah nice, that's probably the best way to do it, splitting the order.

And yeah I wish USB power standards were better so other devices could work easily the world over. Very happy HL managed to pull it off, but I reckon it's the most efficient electronic vape available. Not many other designs weigh up, still not overly fussed by the competition.
Though I'll have to look into this Project Eraser, but already the stirring thing has stopped me being too curious.

I have seen that review. I thought it was odd and badly written, maybe misconstrued.
It seems he has only tried warranty via Aus Vapes, while HL themselves would have served him better. Aus Vapes, unlike Vapefiend, did not support HL via indiegogo, and so don't really have the same relation. Vapefiend has worked with HL to support their customer support ability in the UK, and vice versa.
Aus Vapes I guess managed to score a similar deal but with less priority, furthermore their 'vapour quality' rating (67%, they give the EQ 83%. The GH is vastly superior, technically, flavour wise and with cloud density. Also amount and consistency of extraction is much better with the GH) this leads me to think that they aren't too stoked with their available stock and aren't promoting the device at all, it's not on the front-page and rarely I have been unable to find the GH section through their search engine. I feel they have no ongoing communication with HL and that leaves Aus Vapes unable to personally serve their customers (which they genuinely excel at).

If the guy who wrote the review had contacted HL himself, then he would know how much of a pawn in two companies games he is. I've had no trouble getting service in Australia and have received 5 parcels from HL over the last 10 months. My first hopper was from Vapefiend and I went directly to HL for service back in like March or something, and it was no hassle.

The other thing I was going to mention before is, depending on how bad you need the batteries, you could add a bunch to a warranty parcel. But if they're shot, or near enough, new ones are worth the extra coin (despite the annoyance of course).
I believe I'm seeing better performance from my GHB2s, although it will take another few months to have a clearer idea there.

So yesterday it seemed like both my ss and ti hoppers were underperforming. I am used to a very thick milk up and watching thick vapours dance around my water tool, especially on temp 5, but yesterday they both seemed much more wispy and thin. I have switched around a bunch of strains and they seem to be producing the same quality of vapour regardless of oil content. Everything gets vaped up properly as the ABV is dark, however it just seems to be doing it in a different manner....much slower...almost like it's not getting to 210c max temp? Tried changing around batteries, back ends, etc... same result.

Hoping it's just my technique or light, but more testing will reveal WTF is up today! I just noticed alot of irritating heat, but super thin vapour and it took longer to extract. It's like both of my hoppers are acting completely different! I did unscrew and twist the temp selector and did see at one point the results I was looking for, so maybe the threads just need a deep clean which is something I stopped doing after getting anxiety from the cleaning blog post! (I still use ISO towelettes!)

Hopefully these thin anemic clouds don't last very long.... I feel for you @JoeMama !

Starting to consider moving over to the Ethics thread :o
