Phattpiggies Wood Shed

@Squiby I had to cut a piece with my table saw for the blank which left red dust, like Outback Oz red, everywhere outside, then turned it and it was everywhere inside.
Really rich color, it was your new stash which reminded me to cut it up. The guy must have cut loads of it at the wood shop he had a huge pile of deep, deep red saw dust.

@Mr. Me2 Happy New Year to you as well, I read your post about Meerschaum and totally forgot to reply.
Myself I would use one, some craftsmanship out there, as long as it didn't smell or taste of baccy.

Had @Ruta round today and we discussed condenserless stems and we agreed an all wood stem was to be treated like a seasoned pipe. You'll never get it properly clean but that used to be called 'character'.

Perhaps the Meerschaum could be 'seasoned'. I don't do reclaim. If I did I wouldn't use it.
Meerschaum, 'Foam of the Sea', @Hogni excellent word, is light and looking at it porous so I would let it build up a thin layer of oil and just 'maintain' it rather than deep clean. It's each to their own.

@myfairlady thought you would enjoy the look of the new stem I made today
Breakfast at Tiffany's meets Bloody Mary Jane for Lunch.
Happy New Year folks.
Padauk, excellent rich color.

Gorgeous! Love the style and the wood. And the thuya burl one you made too, I definitely have got VCAS now!

PS I got my OG vapcap the other day and I LOVE it!!! Totally lived up to my expectations and more, already planning my next order with Dynavap and stems from you! :-D

I did make the lid but it was originally made for a 5 fin tip, the same Crab Apple wood just dyed. It's wasn't a snug fit and my thoughts were to use some kind of cord to hold it in place. There will be another lid made as it's just too nice not to see finished.

Ever thought of putting a little magnet in the lid? Would that work or be too fiddly?

I know there are a lot of materials that can be made into stems but there's not much more beautiful than wood. My 2 stems are absolutely beautiful and I use them exclusively. For some reason I can hear the clicks more clearly although I can't imagine why so I never combust. Which I was better at taking pictures.

@Squiby Little Maggie has a Teak with brass and she also has the Thuya Square.

@little maggie I will be doing some 18mm stems once I've had a chat with some of the people in the UK with RBT stuff. I need some dimensions as from what I can see folk are preferring a smaller bowl than the 18mm glass joints offer.

These ones just need finishing off and they will all get sent out, sorry for the video quality once I get my digi camera set up it'll be better. Wood turner, engineer, and now bloody video production. Who knew it would be so complicated but a moving picture is better than a still. IMO

Maybe usefully to overwork the vid with description text?

It's hard enough just sorting the video out let alone do that or add music etc etc, silver surfer here :myday:
well maybe salt and pepper.

Had a busy day and only had little time here and there to sort this out.

In order of appearance
Cocobolo, Ebony, Lacewood, Lemonwood, Lignum Vitae, Camphor, Pink Ivory, Thuya, Tulipwood and Zebrano

Each one is beautiful, but you know which is my favorite...

Herb gardener...
This thread sure is picking up pace...
And for good reason....

Think I'm gonna order one of these new fangled tips and caps....
Are they really any different???

Trying to figure out what's most economical, as I'll be having another stem off you @phattpiggie....

Feels like I lose out if I just buy a cap and tip, i may as well get another woody...

Oooooooh, I use 14mm stems in my Mistvape Touch. I'd love to try a wooden one, 100% interested if you make them in 14mm.

Nice video phatts. Those stems are true works of art. I think I really appreciate the videos instead of a pic. You can get a better idea of how she will look as light hits it at different angles. I'm sure nothing is as good as seeing them in person but it's a hole lot better then the avg pic.

Again many thanks to everyone for the kind words and likes.

@HD Springer I'll get on top of this video business one day, luckily I have @Ruta and his son to help point me in the right direction. I have to agree 'flicks' are so much better than fotos, when they are in focus.

@StormyPinkness this was made as another 'point prover' the Red Malle developed a crack but rather than bin it I carried on to see if it would work and look okay.

The 'modular' concept takes another step forward. When I get time a revised version of this will be put together with the Vong and MP from the same wood.
