Perhaps you've already used it for target practice but perhaps it's worth suggesting that rather than just binning the piece you could take a leaf out of @ataxian 's book and fit it with a seperate mouthpiece. I'd fully understand if you just wanted to put the whole issue behind you but, hey - this could be the CIVILIZED option! Hope your holiday is going well.

or a tiny dab of something over it to keep your lip from touching the cracked spot.... can the crack be felt with a razor knife rubbed over it or is it an internal crack?

Thanks but it looks like Ataxian puts MP on glass that has a joint for mating the MP to the piece. Sadly, I don't see anyway to make that happen easily on this bubbler.

The more I think about it, the more convinced that this happened during cooling and they won't make it good. I wasn't that upset before, but the more I think about it, the less charitable I feel toward Paramount.

I certainly won't recommend them and may even warn others off based on my experience.

Anyway, I'm a bit worried that the joint might be too fragile to carry the weight of both the stem and the vaporizer (in this case a U/D). Here's the piece I have in mind with a circle around what I fear might be it's weakest link.

The fab egg GonG will be fine, I broke my last one trying to twist out a dirty banger and snapped off the joint but as long as you don't put your back into it the reinforcement is enough for most use.

My second egg is still going strong 1 year later and I use it with a dropdown and enail.

Right? That one is spec'd as 2 inches tall! The orange fab egg is 15cm or about 5.9 inches tall, which has me drooling..

By the way, I messaged them for clarification and you get two of those tiiiny little rigs for $22 or something. I getting them for me and my roommate.

The vortex is on point too. If your on the fence, jump and buy it. I also asked to have it with no sandblasted logo in the comments. He replied that all they had was sand blasted logo but it did come with no logo. So that was a bonus for me.

I quit smoking about 15 yrs ago and decided to 'pick it up again' for medical reasons late last year. So much has changed since then, especially with glass. Went into a head shop recently and thought I'd walking into a chemistry supply store. Still learning all the new terminology and devices. Things were so much simpler back in the day...

Hope that your 'medical reasons' are not too severe and that, perhaps, there are some recreational reasons also.
I'm new(ish) here too but you'll find plenty of help and advice on this thread from more experienced FCers especially if you decide to dip a toe into the wonderful sea of Chinese glass. The water is warm and inviting but just watch out for the quicksand .

I def enjoy the other benefits but the pain relief (daily scoliosis and sciatic nerve pain) is the goal. I live in an illegal but decriminalized state and have kids, so I only smoke at night when they're asleep.

I'm interested in a small bubbler for the FW4 that I can set up, use for a quick session, clean and dry (for the most part), and hide away. Smell is a big concern and I keep my gear locked away in an airtight container. Any recommendations?

Many of us know how you feel. I didn't ever take a long break away but for years I used mostly glass spoons and simple old-style bongs now and then. Things have gotten a lot more complicated but the water tools have also massively improved. Vapor plus nice glass suited to your preferences improve on the old experience by a lot. I was RECREATIONAL when I was a YOUNG GUN!
For me it's 100% MEDICAL these dayz!

D020 is a great starter BUBBLER.
D022 for a LOG. (I could be wrong however I like it?) sunshine store is safe.

PORTABLES = BUBBLER and small cans
LOGS = WATER pipes with a medium can
DESK TOPS = Whatever will handle

I have had 40 or more. (just saying!)

Find what set-up is best for your needs?

Thanks, I'll definitely be reading through the Glass 101 thread. I currently suffer from a different kind of VAS (Vinyl Acquisition Syndrome) but now I'm worried that I might eventually suffer from both kinds. Would that be Full-Spectrum VAS??

Yeah, it's definitely taken some getting used to. I've let it cool down to about the same feeling temperature as my 3mm banger and it didn't seem to retain as much heat as I thought. Granted, my old banger has been seasoned but they feel about the same temperature to me and I don't get as much smoke? I've been q-tipping it, so I torch it for a while since I can't see it even faintly glow orange. I get a better hit when it's hotter than I feel I'd like. Also, the clear joint was killing me when it would swing around while I tried q-tipping it. Last time getting any DHGate clear joint for me. Nothing really matters now though, since I broke the bubble cap tonight

I think I might just find the best wide dish 3mm banger vendor as well as a decent Toro Grail knockoff. That vendor topglass has a lot of nice bangers:

I can't see it glow at all either but I've come to a pretty good place now with the heat time/cooldown to get a pretty solid low temp hit. Also qtipping.

Only thing I don't like about it is the heating thing since I'm going through butane a lot faster now, might just need to invest in a bigger torch. I wouldn't be opposed to trying a good toro knockoff either though been curious about the slit design.

Yeah, I feel like I couldn't hit it as low as I usually could on regular bangers. And I definitely hear you on the butane waste - that dish is approaching 30mm! I got some regular 3mm XXL bangers from Beyond1688. Good review history!
